In North America, particularly the large Polish communities of Chicago,

Johhny, when you copy and paste directly from the Internet, put your quote in italics and provide the source. That would be more honest.

Like this:

In North America, particularly the large Polish communities of Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, and other large cities across the Midwest and Northeast, Paczki Day is celebrated annually by immigrants and locals alike. The date of this observance merges with that of pre-Lenten traditions of other immigrants on Fat Tuesday.

With its sizable Polish population, Chicago celebrates the festival on both Fat Thursday and Fat Tuesday.

Fat Tuesday has arrived, but I must pass.
No unnecessary sugar in this old body of mine.
Fat Tuesday is here and that signals Paczki Day, when people arrive in the wee hours at bakeries to grab these Polish pastries.

I am not a great lover of spirits, Wodka even less so.
But for me it would have to be Zubrowka.

grey goose.

Too expensive, try żubrówka with a little bit advocat ad then full sprite, mixed, it's a Polish-German-American Drink. Very nice.

Sounds more like very quick way to empty your stomach of all contents and/or regret the day you were ever born.... brrrrrrrrrr

empty your stomach of all contents

I heaved when I saw the bit about advocaat.

There used to be s bar in Warsaw, an underground bar (literally) with a 'ghostly' name (if you know you know), not hipstery or trendy that had its own signature drink, Żołądkowa Gorzka and Sprite. Sounds nasty, but it was actually better than you'd think.

Too expensive

In Europe,Yes,I wonder why even though its European.(France).In States it costs only 39.99 $ for 1.75 ltrs, but Belvedere,Chopin etc cost 55$.In Poland so hard to find 1.75 ltr bottles,so I buy Finlandia 1.75 ltr for 106 Pln I think.

try żubrówka with a little bit advocat ad then full sprite

Zubrowka & Advocat is a no no for me,I like my vodka on the ice or mixed with beer to kill the vodka taste or beer as a chaser.

With Belweder and Chopin, you're paying for the fancy bottle and their marketing budget.

I buy Wyborowa and/or Żytnia.

Grey Goose has the same kind of fancy bottle.

Isn't that French?

I used to buy Siwucha. Not in many shops now and Poles prefer a cleaner taste however Siwucha has character.

Siwucha

Siwucha is a specific brand that uses a pre-war recipe. As you'd guess, its name comes from the slightly greyish tinge (that the French vodka Grey Goose doesn't have).

Yes, from its colour.

The brand called that uses a pre-war recipe and is quite special.
