UK, Ireland / New British Based Points System [30]

namibia

Dont you go ruining Namibia with your 'dodgy' emigration ideas. Frankie Fredericks would have a nightmare.

You could try Columbia though. :-)

Love / Polish girls and this age thing? [173]

"So Debbie Magee, what first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?"

When i was in Poznan i saw lots of younger women wearing fur coats and looking very well maintained, unfortunately they all seemed to be with old, tubby, bald men wearing black leather coats and smoking heavily.

Then again in my local Tesco i have seen several Asian women dolled up on the arm of fat, tweed wearing farmers.

So England and Poland are not so different.

News / China to buy 150 helicopters from Poland [47]

It appears that you know very little of what actually is produced by the Chinese. Look at the recent stories in the USA of contaminated toys, toothpaste and animal feed. Most people didnt even know these products were produced in China before the reports. When a country the size of the US has to import dog food it goes to show the influence that Chinese industry has. This is why most western countries are now looking to China for trade agreements and alliances.

Any attempt to boycott ALL chinese products would cause numerous industries to collapse and seriously harm the world economy no matter how much people dislike the fact.

News / China to buy 150 helicopters from Poland [47]

No, I think you will find that lots of people are well aware of where most things are produced

How naive you are. The average guy on the street doesnt know or/and doesnt care where the product is from as long as it cleans his teeth/makes him coffee etc. Most people are so detached from the suffering of others that they do not care if a 6 year has worked for 20 hours a day to make his childs toy just as long as it does the job and is cheap.

The rules of supply and demand are what is making China strong.

News / China to buy 150 helicopters from Poland [47]

I really think you underestimate people....most really didn't know, but that is changing as we speak

Unfortunately, i know what the 'average guy on the street' is like having spent some years publishing public register/freedom of information data on the internet and working on government projects to get everyday information to the 'common man'. People who work 45+ hours a week for a 'meagre' paypacket are more concerned with how far their money goes rather than is this product 'morally sound'. As with most things in life, money talks and to the masses they do not care as long as the product does its job be it made in China or Taiwan or anywhere else.

Nike was critisised for many years for using sweat shops and child labour by the Press. Did it harm them? No, free publicity of their products. When a brand is endorsed by Thierry Henry/Michael Jordan/Tiger Woods who cares where it is made. It is a sad endictment of our times but unfortunately true.

"Only someone with money can have superior morals."

UK, Ireland / The best place to buy a house in the UK [120]

You could try somewhere close to Lincoln. There is a large established Polish community here, housing is reasonably cheap and the location is good for the countryside/coast/EMA.

Life / Those Stella Artois Ads (filmed in Poland) [28]

I dont know why but it does seem to make people more aggressive than the typical lagers. Even the ones which are stronger like Becks (not vier).

Similar to the depressive effects of Gin on most people.

Love / The relationships with the Polish girls? "Platonic friendship." [36]

I wold never want a girl that goes to the bed in 3 hours

Get a life! Have some (safe) fun!

Well I’m sure you plied her with lots of booze in those 3 hours and of course rehipnol takes a while to work !! :-P

No vodka laced drinks required! The rohypnol even lasted until the next morning and appears to still be working 5 months later! :-P

Lluvia, you just sound bitter and childish because you didnt get what you wanted. Your ego took a big hit and you want someone to tell you that you are great and that it was the girl at fault. Sorry thats not going to happen. Get over yourself and move on.

So obviously they're doing something right by eating veggies in the morning

People put on weight by consuming more calories than they burn up. Very simple. Doesnt really matter what food it is (as long as it isnt pure fat!). I would have thought it is more to do with lifestyle than consumption.

UK, Ireland / Gang attack Polish man with knife [87]

Its a prozac county

You obviously havent been for a night out in Boston, Grantham or Sleaford centres. Both Boston and Grantham have been on national television for the amount of violence that occurs at weekends.

Riot in Boston

UK, Ireland / Are the Poles in England hated? [450]

I have heard how english men talk about Polish women, they think they are cheap prostitutes who will sell themselvs for a penny.

Not all English men think that. I have found that Polish girls in general have far more morals and decent values than there English equivalents.

UK, Ireland / Documents for visiting living in England [2]

What documents does a Polish person need to visit England, is an ID card enough or do they need a passport?

What documents does a Polish person need to move to, live and work in England?

Thanks!

UK, Ireland / BBC article on Polish food in the UK [22]

Many Polish immigrants are returning home, according to a report this week, but the big supermarkets have been stocking up on their native foods. Will classic dishes such as beetroot soup or pillowy dumplings, find their way into British kitchens?

Real Estate / Current price of Homes in Poland [41]

Yesterday, Channel 4 had a interesting episode of "A place in the sun: home or away" with a woman wanting to move to Krakow but her sister wanting her to stay in London. Comparing prices and quality of property there was not a contest to which city won. She could get a tiny 1 bedroom flat in an ok London area or a impressive 3 bedroom flat + large bathroom + garden + maintenance team for half the price in Krakow. She moved to Krakow.

Programmes like this will only increase the number of Brits that are likely to move in Poland as they realise that their money goes further and the lifestyle is slower.

UK, Ireland / Entering the UK on just a karta pobytu? [7]

Is it possible for a Polish citizen to fly to England for a short holiday with just an ID card?
Have had mixed responses from searching google. Most reliable info from British embassy says Poles can travel with a passport or ID card, is this correct?

Life / Anti-spanking law in Poland? [76]

Assaulting children teaches children only one thing, that it's ok to be violent

Think thats bollox. I was hit as a child, but only when i had done something wrong. I knew what the punishment was and duly deserved it. Never in my life have i been in a proper fight or hit someone in anger, because i was brought up the right way.

There is a difference between a beating and a few smacks to discipline an unruly child.

Life / Anti-spanking law in Poland? [76]

assaulting children

It is a crime. However sensible physical discipling of a child by an adult is not.
There are pros and cons and examples of each on both sides of the argue. While the law allows parents to use their discretionary discipliary powers to spank their own child it is their choice and we cannot challenge that.

Life / Anti-spanking law in Poland? [76]

Spanking children destroys self esteem and the same children that are spanked, end up abusing and in abusive relationships

What a pile of cr@p!!! That is one of the worst generalisations ever made! Never in my life have i read such an utterly stupid comment, and ive read most of michal's posts.

celinski

So you are saying that no matter what i do now i will be in an abusive relationship because my parents physically disciplined me???! And every other person who was smacked as a child is going to be in one too? Sorry, but your talking cr@p.

Think you should take your 'American studies' and shove them. I have never been in a proper fight and would certainly never hurt a female.

UK, Ireland / Are polish pupils harming native british childrens education? [280]

Polish kids 'Harming native British childrens education' is quite simply bollocks

Depends upon the area and what requirements the child/ren have.
Some schools now are having to produce and/or employ someone to produce learning materials for the polish children that have recently started at schools and have no knowledge of the english language. This of course is another expense on the already limited budget of a school. And the knock-on effect could possibly be deterimental to the english children in the classes.

This is of course true for an child who does not speak english entering the UKs education system.
I remember in Nottingham the council having to produce leaflets in 13 different languages with further languages being available upon request.
The money has to come from somewhere.

UK, Ireland / How to get cheaper texts UK to Poland? [5]

I got myself an orange international PAYG sim card (£1 to buy or free with a £10 top-up), put into an old phone and now pay 16p a text. Doesnt seem a lot but when your monthly text bill to Poland hits £80 it saves a bit!
