Travel / How to get from Okecie to Olsztyn! [9]

Ach I see, it's another town. :P
Well, then it's really nice of you to travel to the middle of nowhere to surprise your parents! :)

You know, maybe I will visit cute little Lidzbark myself when in Poland. Just for fun to see what place it is. - Do your parents offer B&B? I could sleep in the hay-barn. Nie ma problemu! ;-)

Travel / How to get from Okecie to Olsztyn! [9]

For what I see, pkp offers a direct connection from Okecie to Lidzbark Miasto @ 56,20 zł 2nd class.

Travel insurance just covers the extra costs when something goes wrong while it isn't your fault. That could be many things, so still it is recommend to have a travel insurance. My bank offers a permanent travel insurance for a few euros a year, so maybe check with your bank for such a deal.

Well, have fun visiting your family! :)

Love / Is Polish girls' beauty a myth? [78]

What I like in Polish girls, is that they know what's going on in the world and that they can be a bit alternative as well. E.g. some like punk and indie music.

All-in-all I have the idea that Polish women are less the cliché "thick make-up doll gold-digger girls" who like to go to 50 Ct.'s candy shop.

However, you reap what you sow. If you are a complaining prick, you probably attract girls with the same mentality. :-)

Love / Polish Lady making me Bigos... [przez żołądek do serca] [18]

It nice to make and it tastes great indeed. Only you have to be aware to put the cabbage into the freezer to night before for easy removal of leaves. - However I forgot, but after good boiling the leaves came off easy as well. - Still it takes up some time to make the whole dish.

So far this Jamie Oliver intermission. Now back to the studio..

Love / What are the perceptions of polish towards homosexuality? [106]

They are against the natural cycle

Well, what's against and along the 'natural cycle' is questionable. Since the number of homosexuals in society seems to be steady, it looks like it's just a part of Mother Nature.

As well, you see some homosexual and lesbian couples have children together. So you cannot even say that they are against the 'natural cycle' because they cannot have children.

Second a 'disease' implies that the subject is suffering and that his/her (mental) health is in danger. You don't see that with homosexuals.

They aren't less healthy or less sane then any other straight person.

Sometimes it helps to assign a static ip-address to your laptop.

Life / Tips on Polish television series? [3]

Thanks, I will have a look at the soaps and the kids programs. No slang and not too fast is a big advantage indeed! :-)

Hmm last one is quite an adrenaline rush. Thanks for the tips McCoy!

Life / Tips on Polish television series? [3]

To improve my Polish listening skills, I'm looking for Polish series. Already know Londynczycy, so if you could tell me other interesting series..?
Thanks. :-)

Love / Better place to meet women in Poland? Krakow or Gdansk? [5]

Krakow is more international and student-like. Gdansk looks cute, but it is small and from my experience the discos and rests close early (I was there 3, 4 years ago). Sopot is nice, but most parties are private. However I had a great beach party somewhere and they played 'We Are the Champions' with Polish lyrics. :P

Maybe start in Krakow, then three days Sopot and then home. :-)

Love / What is your opinion on the Polish Ladies in Krakow? [82]

@TS

Dude, just speak to girls. Some are nice and maybe some aren't. Never ever had any bad experience in Krakow. - And if girls are b*tching, well then it's their problem. :P

Ok, don't be a mothers-boy and just give it a try! Good luck! :D

Language / "Leje jak z cebra" [11]

Ah I was thinking of a 'cebra' (animal) because the English use animals as well in their saying.

Splashing water out of buckets makes more sense indeed! :D

Thanks!

Language / "Leje jak z cebra" [11]

Where comes this saying from? Do they mean 'raining so much like the thick stripes on the zebra'???

It's more strange then the English equivalent. :D

Language / Jest/To jest - to jest is often abbreviated to just to [24]

Kolokwium jest dużo pracy - does not make sense in Polish as well

Why doesn't it makes sense? To me it reads as 'The test is a lot of work.'.
'Kolokwium to dużo pracy.' would I translate with 'The test, (well) that's a lot of work!'.
