How to get from Okecie to Olsztyn!

I'm planning to surprise my family by visiting them randomly in October without telling them i'm coming but i need some help. I'd always get a lift when i was going home but i wanna get there all by myself and i don't really know Warsaw. So i need to know the easiest, fastest, cheapest ways of getting to Dworzec Centralny or some sort of coach station as i have heard there is a mini bus service that goes to Olsztyn or Bartoszyce. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please, i'll be very grateful! I will be in Warsaw at around 5 pm and it's in the middle of the week, not a Sunday or a national holiday or anything like that if that helps. Thank you in advance for your help!

Kierunek: Olsztyn
Miejsce odjazdu: Emilia Plater
Przez: Nidzica, Olsztynek
Godziny odjazdów: 14.50L 16.30L pok-tourist.pl

Or direct to Lidzbark Welski:

Kierunek: Lidzbark Welski
Miejsce odjazdu: Dw.Zachodni
Przez: Plonsk, Żuromin
Godziny odjazdów: 6.45L 7.10L 17.45Lm

This is what I could find. Don't know if it's good, since I understand little Polish. Maybe there will be a connection to Lidzbark Warmiński too, but I couldn't find it so far.

Anyway, make sure to get a travel insurance if you haven't got one already. When my friend went back from Poland to the UK one time, there was a strike on Warsaw Airport. She had to fly from another airport and sleep in a hotel because she couldn't get another flight the same day.

I found one from Warszawa to Lidzbark Warmiński as well via google ("autobus warszawa lidzbark"): e-podroznik.pl

Edit: I don't know why I thought you wanted to travel to Białystok :(
So with Olsztyn the Gdańsk airport would be probably a better solution if you can find cheap flights to Gdańsk.

But if arrive in Warsaw, take autobus 175 from Okęcie to Dworzec Centralny and a train if such exist, check pkp.pl website (Okęcie-Centralny takes about 30 minutes by bus, and better to check the trains timetable when you know the exact date of your arrival).

Maybe someone who knows Warsaw better than me will be able to tell you if you can go to dworzec Warszawa Zachodnia from Okęcie (at Zachodnia, beside the train station, there's also a big coach station so you could possibly find an autobus to Olsztyn there).

Ok thought i'd have a look myself as all this looks a bit confusing lol and i think i got it. Bus 175 to dworzec centralny, train to Olsztyn and bus to Lidzbark Warm - all perfect timing and very frequent in case i miss one of them, phew! Thank you everyone, especially Gość :). I didn't bother with travel insurance, if i land somewhere else i suppose i'll have to let someone know and ruin the surprise, maybe i'll see if i can find any cheap deals. Oh the flights are already booked to Warsaw, only wizzair fly to Gdansk and that's at stupid inconvenient hours, i'd have to rely on family or friends to get back and as i said, this is a surprise. So shhh!!

if i could drive do you think i'd be asking about public transport?

For what I see, pkp offers a direct connection from Okecie to Lidzbark Miasto @ 56,20 zł 2nd class.

Travel insurance just covers the extra costs when something goes wrong while it isn't your fault. That could be many things, so still it is recommend to have a travel insurance. My bank offers a permanent travel insurance for a few euros a year, so maybe check with your bank for such a deal.

Well, have fun visiting your family! :)

well you're wrong dear tomekcatkins as that is not lidzbark warminski you found a connection to. see there isn't a train station in LW.

Ach I see, it's another town. :P
Well, then it's really nice of you to travel to the middle of nowhere to surprise your parents! :)

You know, maybe I will visit cute little Lidzbark myself when in Poland. Just for fun to see what place it is. - Do your parents offer B&B? I could sleep in the hay-barn. Nie ma problemu! ;-)
