Real Estate / Construction (Poland Vrs where you are from) [66]
Actually I do. My brother owns a construction company and hired some Poles who claimed they know everything. Well, they couldn't figure out the measuring tape for one and tried to convert it to metric wasting time. Then they were suppose to nail 2x4's to the baseboard and they didn't measure it right so the 4x8 sheet didn't fit. Then they screwed up the closet putting screws in wrong spot and snd the dpoors were drooping. Then the sheetrock, fascia board, you name it, they screwed up the whole thing. So I do know what I'm talking about because I've seen it.

I hate C. Never could get used to weather in Poland being in the 20's while here the 20's is freezing.
Fahrenheit is much better.

That's why Poles who come to the US to work in construction always screw up. They cannot figure out inches. You tell them over and over again and they still don't get it, waste their time trying to convert into metric, then wondering why the windows fell out.
They always know everything and tell you that its better their way and they are right. They are having a hard time converting to the US standards of work and not getting so many breaks for ciggies as in Poland.
For building work here we use millimetres for measurements

Neither is Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day...But like everyone said, you work in Poland now, gotta OBEY them Polish rules....Sorry, boss was right ;)
However...the US embassy in Poland is closed that day....

Basements in US are luxurious living spaces yet when Poles in Chicago have to rent one of those, they feel degraded, comes from the belief that basements are for storing crap.

It depends what state you were married in. Some divorces can be done over the internet, some you have to stand in court in person.
The annulement would be better but it has to be done under a year.
But if you live in Poland and don't register there as married, no one will know you are.

Polonia has a Polish priest and so does Stevens Point which also prints the Gwiazda Polarna, oldest Polish Newspaper in the US. The older Polish generation of those towns are dying off, there is less and less of any connections with Poland.
But you can find the Krakus Ham in the local Walmart!

In the US mail is delivered on Saturdays, but Canada doesn't deliver on Saturdays. On Sundays only express mail is delivered.
If mail wasn't delivered on Saturdays the carriers have to work super fast and they would have more mail to carry. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, then after returning to work two days later, they are swamped. The mail gets delivered more efficiently and faster when working on Saturdays.

This Polish guy I know wanted to buy a car. I went with him because he "speak no English". Ok, so I went with him to translate.
Wish I never did. That was the biggest waste of an hour I ever had. This Polish guy was badgering and bartering and looking for all kinds of tiny little dents just get a cheaper price on the vehicle.
The seller wanted a certaine price because that's what the car was worth, but when this Polish guy got to him,(something he has never encountered), he got so sick of him that he finally sold it for the price this Polish guy was offering.
On the way home home he was laughing so hard, that he got such a cheap deal.
