Polonius3 994 | 12,367 7 Jun 2008 / #1Homosexuals and theri sympathisers held a parade through central Warsaw on Satruday billed as an Equality Parade. Police estimaterd from 2000-3000 participatns, whilst the organisers claimed there had been 5000. There was loud techno music, rainbow and communist flags, balloons, transvestites dancing and gyrating on moving platforms and males kissing one another in public. About 100 counter-demonstrators representing the right-wing All-Poland Youth and the National Radical Camp chanted slogans and waved placards but were cordoned off by police so as not to come into direct contact with the rianbow paraders. The chief spokesman of teh pro-homo liobby, Robertt Biedroń, told repoerters "See how similing and joyous we all are and how colourful our parade is. That stands in contrast to that handful of frustrated hate-filled hecklers."
Frank 23 | 1,183 7 Jun 2008 / #8Anyone who starts a thread....as this one has....aint up to no good...IMHO....:)
dtaylor 9 | 823 7 Jun 2008 / #10I think that he means the person who started this thread is anti-gay;)
Seanus 15 | 19,674 7 Jun 2008 / #11With very little foundation. He was hardly controversial in what he said. What is wrong with awareness raising?
Eurola 4 | 1,902 7 Jun 2008 / #13I don't see him posting his views on the parade. He just told us about the parade. I don't see it as trollish. It's the parade observers or participants who do (or not) and that's a whole different story. I see nothing wrong with a gay parade as they should have the right to do it. All in a good taste, however. I don't want see men groping and heavy kissing each other just as much as heterosexual partners doing the same in public.
Frank 23 | 1,183 7 Jun 2008 / #14HOMOS ON PARADE IN WARSAW.....So lets substitute "Cripples" for disabled......"Mad or Nutters" for those with mental health problems......Still ok?
Seanus 15 | 19,674 7 Jun 2008 / #15I disappoint u, how so? Eurola has just given a good account of what he wrote. R u so peeved that he wrote about gays? He meant no harm I think. It is written by a Pole I think and saying 'homo' is not that bad like it is with us. If he wanted to offend, he'd have written ciota or pedał.
Seanus 15 | 19,674 7 Jun 2008 / #17Where was the inflammatory intent? Prove it!! Did u hear his tone of voice when he said homos? No, of course u didn't.
Eurola 4 | 1,902 7 Jun 2008 / #18He intent was (I think) to start a conversation. He succeeded. It is about the posters now, if they want to turn it into an inflammatory discussion...Homo can be used as an abbreviation for homosexuals, a perfectly proper word.
Seanus 15 | 19,674 7 Jun 2008 / #19Absolutely, maybe he didn't know the pejorative overtones. Gays is taken badly by some too but it shouldn't be.
osiol 55 | 3,921 7 Jun 2008 / #20I do remember hearing a discussion programme on the radio in which one of the guests (who was, like most of them on this programme, plugging their latest book), kept using the word 'queer', and described himself as such. That seemed not just strange, but downright queer.
osiol 55 | 3,921 7 Jun 2008 / #22There was, maybe still is, a periodical published under the name "Gay News".That's "Gay News", not "Queer News", "Bender News" or "Poof Weekly".
Seanus 15 | 19,674 7 Jun 2008 / #25Maybe it came through the backdoor but, then again, u would've noticed.Anyway, top 10 Floyd songs Osioł
