Life / Queuing and Polish people [49]

What are the punishments like for drink driving in Poland? My wife's family have a couple of stories of crashing whilst drunk. The resulting punishments were either lax or non-existent.

Is it taken seriously in the media there?

Life / Queuing and Polish people [49]

I'll check out your stats. I know stats can be falsified, just as any other media statements. And Poland has been vilified by the media psychopaths the world over.

You think official statisticians in foreign countries exaggerate numbers dying on Poland's roads because they dont like Polish people?

are there many road accidents in Poland?

Driving onto one road, I don't know where, I thought we had driven into a high-speed florist's shop.

They do brighten up the place dont they. Very handy when you've just remembered its the wife's birthday also.

UK, Ireland / Views of Poles in UK on Bulgarians/Romanians coming here? [62]

I actually give up, because it would seem that its okay for Poles to committ crime in the UK because there are more of them than any others from Eastern Europe..

The point you seem to be making is that the crime rate has gone up because a million Poles have come to the country. I think the point other people are making is that a Pole is no more likely, in fact less likely, to commit a crime than anyone else. Your point seems to tell us something about people in general whereas the others point tells us more about Poles in particular.

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

irish rebals stood up against the british rule in i belive 1906 however i could be wrong about this year by a year or two and i belive this was the major factor in starting the troubles

You speak with such confidence about subjects you obviously know nothing about.

Welcome to PolishForums, you'll feel right at home.

UK, Ireland / Polish teenager murdered after arriving in UK [117]

It would apear that we English are an abusive and intolerant lot!

Exactly. It seems as though England is some sort of wilderness of predators lurching in the undergrowth waiting to leap on some poor, innocent Pole on his/her way to work for an honest pound.

UK, Ireland / Polish teenager murdered after arriving in UK [117]

Funnily enough - Poland has more murders in a year than the UK and nearly three times more murders with fire arms...

The level of 'Polonphobia' even in Poland is truly shocking.

Certainly not even in the nice areas there are gangs of thugs just waiting to attack at the first sound of a Polish voice....I admire the bravery of any Pole who risks their life in a city full of abusive English people......

I hope you're joking.

Christ almighty, the way some of you go on its as though theres been no murders of anyone in Britain in the last 3 years. I've had at least 3 murders in my area of London in the last 12 months, Newsflash- none were Polish, none were on the national news. One got into the local papers though, it was the murder of a woman by a Pole who had broken into her house. No one even suggested that race was an issue.

Grow up and stop looking for stories to feed your own paranoia.

he interviewed LECH WALESA .. if thats the stereotypicial person you are referring to with a moustache :-S and on a personal note i wouldnt think disrespecting a person that helped overcome communism in Poland and was president of the country as being stereotypicial as that would be rather disrespectful dont you think???? [/quote]

Sorry. I think the 'tache is wicked really.

I went to college in Liverpool and i'd imagine the Polish guys blend in quite well as scousers are also a bit over eager with the old home hair clippers.

'm surprised Putin hasnt voiced his objections to this Polish attack on his country's national symbol.

What has it got to do with Putin? Is Putin in charge of Poland?

No Michal, you're absolutely right. My mistake.

it was more a statement of fact rather than an accusation - but thanks for your input

Please provide relevant statistical evidence to support your 'statement of fact' as you call it. :)

actually religion helps you be a better person..

Religion and morality are not linked in any way. If you are religious you must follow the word of God even if what is said is against your own morality e.g. pluck out one of your eyes, kill your own son. Christianity also teaches that you can live a life of immorality, murdering, raping, abusing children and still get to heaven as long as you repent at the end, whereas an unbeliever can will burn in hell for all eternity regardless of their numerous good works. Thus the lesson Christianity teaches us is that your attitude to humanity is nothing next to your subservience to God.

Life / Why are the Poles picked on there is no reason to do this to them [108]

When people make fun of an external object whether it be a person or culture it's a sign of their own ignorance, insecurities and fear.

Not quite true. Theres nothing wrong with satire or generally taking the p1ss out of stuff. Theres a victim in all humour.

wat i want to knwo is the factors affecting this

The factors are that these people are morons with zero self worth who only feel good about themselves when they are intimidating other people. They live in a country which offers them all the opportunities it is possible to offer and they still fail.

Its just a shame that the junk food that they shove into their fat, vacant faces doesnt make them sterile.

This Michael Palin programme isnt as good as his previous efforts (Pole to Pole, round the world in 80 days)though as hes not really travelling in this series, hes just being 'delivered' to the appropriate locations. We're therefore not seeing the more mundane stuff that really makes up a country.

UK, Ireland / Polls for Poles in the UK [178]

The queue to vote at the Polish Consulate was massive by the way, you would have been waiting for hours. My wife is pregnant so she asked if there was a different q for pregnant women and was told to go straight through. I told her her afterwards that she must be sure to phone her family and tell them with pride how she had represented Poland approriately by both voting and pushing in a queue to do it.

Theres no contradiction to being a member of the BNP in England. There is a contradiction in being a Polish Nazi.

Polish Nazism is like turkeys voting for Christmas. Being an English fascist is not.
