It's virtually unheard of for a brown or black bear to attack a group of more than three people which makes me think that the bear was the victim in this case.

thank God it wasn't a Polar Bear...or else there'd be no survivors

True - but with a few more years of global warming we won't have to worry about them will we?

Thought i would update this via the following article:

The body of a bear cub, stoned to death by
a gang of tourists, was found by Tatra
mountain rangers. Two of the group reported
to police that they had been forced to kill
the year-and-a-half-old bear after it had
attacked them, though doctors in Zakopane
reported that the suspects’ injuries were
inconsistent with a bear attack. According to
press reports, the six tourists had been feeding
the animal with sandwiches and sweets
and later started pelting it with stones, finally
dumping its body in a mountain stream.
The RMF FM radio station reported that
the culprits may get away with mild sentences
due to “absurdities of Polish law” –
the law currently punishes the killing of
pests and vermin more strongly than that of
protected species.
“Killing a fox is more harmful to nature
than killing a bear, a goat or a groundhog,” a
Tatra National Park official told the station.
“In addition, Polish law does not directly
directly punish the killing of protected
species,” Jaros³aw Rabiasz, the park’s chief
ranger, added. “If a poacher kills a dear he is
punished. Here we also have to prove serious
harm to the environment.”
If one small bear does not constitute serious
environmental harm in the eyes of the
court, RMF FM commented, the tourists
may walk away unpunished

What has it got to do with Putin? Is Putin in charge of Poland?

No Michal, you're absolutely right. My mistake.

Too Right, I suspect it was a small thing apparently theres an investigation going on now whether they stoned it to death :(

now I am appalled, looking at the size of the bear, which looks like a young bear
and judging by the size of the two men carrying it, Id say that they wanted to
poach rather then save someone life.

that was just another excuse to kill a animal.. sorry folks, not buying into this one
Polish or not, poaching is a crime, and although the bear was capable of attacking
I dont believe the whole story.. smaller bears look for food, and they could have
diverted its attention.

when I read the story, I was expecting this huge bear that was 7 foot tall.

It makes me sad that in a world where certain animals are becoming exstinct people are killing them for fun - You expect if of less civilsed countries but in Europe, no excuse really - Brave men aye!

no excuse really - Brave men aye!

thats what I say.. it was ashame the bear didnt bite one of their arses and leave
his mark before he died.. or give them rabies.

and if two guys can carry a bear, my guess is this was more then likely a young cub
who was looking for food.. I bet a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich would have kept
the cub busy so they could make their great escape, but they chose to kill.

No, but that never stopped him from "voicing his objections".

Good one Kilkline. :))

I object to bad humans being described as animals.
Animals do what they do. Bears, for example, hunt and kill their prey for food.
They do not kill just for a laugh. I don't think I'd be over-anthropomorphising if I said bears are noble creatures.
If bears ever attack people, it is because they have come to associate people whith a source of food.
That food is not the humans themselves, but the food that humans take with them when they enter the realm of bears.
When I read that this bear was so young, it shows these idiots up for the cowards they are.
Go wrestle a fully-grown lion next time... or a donkey.

Glad someone got it.

I still do not get it as it has nothing whatsoever to do with Putin. Anyway, who cares about a little bear? The Japanese have killed all the whales in the sea yet everybody still buys Nikon cameras, Nissan, Mutsibishi and Honda motor cars. Nobody complains, do they?

Not quite all of them.

Nobody complains, do they?

Yes they do.

When do I complain?

I don't think there would be enough room for me to put in links to all your posts where you have complained about anything.
