The Japanese have killed all the whales in the sea yet everybody still buys Nikon cameras, Nissan, Mutsibishi and Honda motor cars. Nobody complains, do they?

That's a point worth repeating. We all say one thing about the treatment of our fellow animals but when it comes to the race to possess shiny things we clearly act in a completely different way. See diamonds for another example.
