Love / moving to poland to be together is this the right decision? [67]

Coming to the bottom, the status quo might not be such a bad situation after all. We have from one side a man of duty with love affection and understanding for his family and girlfriend and on the other hand, you who loves him and understands him equally much. In Greece we say , that there where is love, (it is as if) all the other things are in ambondance.

I have never seen absolute happines but i have seen average happiness being destroyed on the way to achieve absolute happiness. If you now manage to achieve a balance between these two extremes for sure this will happen slowly and gradually. I think that time is on your side on this

Real Estate / Looking for apartment in Poznan. What are their prices? [6]

Real Estate / Looking for apartment in Poznan. What are their prices? [6]

I am finally hopefully going to move to Poland and in particular to Poznan.

Could anyone give me any info on renting apartments?

I am interested to know what are the monthly rent prices for 1 or 2 room flats.

And if anybody knows a web page where I could check, i would be really grateful.

Thanks a lot :)

Being frustrated doesn't lead you anywhere. Only relaxed you will make it through.

Maybe it is time you push the situation a bit. Meet them all :) And maybe his family turns to like you. Sometimes good people understand eachother without many words. They grasp the good intention instinctively. In any case, even if you do not feel necessary to meet his family i think it is necessary because it is a part of his life, past and present. He loves them.

It is certain and obvious he is previous relationship has not finished 100% in his head. He doesn't want to hurt his x's feelings since he doesn;t want you to meet, even accidentally, Because maybe he loves her, not as a woman but as a person and as part of his life. From what I have been reading he is not a scum or malevolent person. And people that are constant on their duties towards their family are somehow rare today. He is trying to compromise everything in his life.

Just risk it and push a bit more so that you enter also the other half of his life

Travel / road trip from Greece to Poland [5]

Thank you for the replies! All of you.

Osiol....dogs must be driving also in Greece...elseway it would be hard to explain our EU road accident record

Dnz...you really seem to be calm in a situation where an average person would feel at least a bit stressed. I will partly try to adopt your attitude.

Travel / road trip from Greece to Poland [5]

I am a greek and in a couple of weeks I am planning my trip to Poland. I am going to make it by car through FYRoMacedonia, Serbia, Hungary and then either Slovakia or Czech Rep.

Could anyone give me any advice on the quality of the roads in Serbia/Hungary/Poland compared to Greece/FYRoMacedonia/Italy/Turkey/Romania/Bulgaria?

From my experience, only Bulgaria is awfully stressing and dangerous. What stands for Poland? Although I have been 4 times, i do not know what it means driving there. Only around Wrocław I remember that the urban roads had a not of holes and faulty paved asfalt on old german stones. How about the roads connecting big cities?

How dangerous is it for my car to get stolen conciderring that it carries greek plates?

Do traffic policemen stop you for typical controls and then "force" you to bribe them to let you go for trivial things, like they do in Bulgaria?

Thanks for the help to come :)

Life / Downloading polish films [7]

Hello to everyone

I would like to ask where on the net i could find a site to download or watch online free films in polish. It would be a great help for me in my effort to learn polish. I know there are also films that for educational reasons have subtitles in polish.

Any help welcomed:)

News / Are there any other countries that Polish immigrants are going to? [70]

I am refering to the climate not seriously but for a joke... this is the point...climates do not change(or so we think...he,he).

In sociology the climate and geography appears to have a definite role in a society's evolvement

the greeks are in the eu for 26 consecutive years. They have adopted the euro and are massively euro-optimists.

Their moral conservatism has nothing to do with EU integration. It has to do with their history and geographical position. They look a lot alike spanish, centre-south italians and portugese. The South of Europe is part of Europe geographically, historically, culturally and consitutes part of the european identity, it is not an entity on the way of integration,on the way of becoming Europe(or EU)...it is one part of Europe and European Union.

In order for attitudes to change you have to change the climate, the land, the institutions, the class formation of the society and other staff. These things if they don't change naturally they do not change at all. And the truth is that things change over here as time goes by, but not towards a north european model, but towards an original model that fits the region's special characteristics.

Why you mention the irish....As I told you polish people are probably the most integrated into the greek society and also to the greatest extent accepted by locals.

Hey Frank...rational question.

Greeks are like that. It is not an opinion everyone shares but the majority of the people are traditional and conservative. After all it is the european South with all its pros and cons. (Imagine the level of hypocricy since people are nagging about the overflowing numbers prostitutes from eastern europe while in the same time they consitute the demand for those services)

If you ask me, I have no problem at all with legal prostitution and I respect the right of every citizen to choose a profession.

On the other hand I recognise that the majority of "sex workers" are misstreted and prostitution in South-eastern Europe in contrast to the West is after passing some numbers an indication of social malfunction. If you are interested, I can analyse the reasons in another discussion.

In greek there isn't such a term as "sex worker" but rather that of "prostitute" so you get what kind of mentality we are talking about.

Most people here really look up to Germany and Netherlands as a development models but even me I don't think that there are only positive points to attribute to these societies :)

There are many polish also in Greece. There must be much more than 3500 in Athens and a coupe of thousands more in the rest of the country. There is also an elementary school and highschool in Athens as well as a polish catholic church. There must be more than 2 newspapers also in polish concerning the polish community in Greece.

Greeks although xenophobic and prejudists in general, we have a positive opinion about polish people mostly judging on their performance in work and their low rates of criminal records (contrasting to albanians or romanians). We also see positively the fact that there are very small numbers of polish prostitutes.

Life / Getting new passport for stolen/captured passport [9]

Dear neigbour Sarbel :)

Now that I know you are from Turkey I am happy about you polish gf coming to you. From my personal experience, I can travel to Turkey with my ID and without a passport and i really believe since she is an EU citizen she can do the same.

Please tell her to call the Turkish consulate in Poland-Wasawa and ask to be sure. A phonecall is no big deal.

Good luck my friend

If she is above 18 she will have to report it to the police.

In case you live in an EU country or Turkey she doesn't have to use a passport. Her ID will be all the documents she needs.

take care

Ukinpoland is right but it is really advised not to replace passports that easily since they are very serious documents.

UK, Ireland / polish girls outnumbers polish men interms of relationships with native from uk or ie [178]

The issue is very easy to solve dear Marek from Canada and rest of wondering youth :)

. It would be enough to go back to some sociology books I have from university. In this society there are roles, known as gender roles. In highly developped western societies these roles tend to be of lesser importanse and expansion while in less economically and socially developped societies they are stronger.

The woman is consiered to look for safety and power so that she can find her warm nest and bring up children. Economically powerful men seem to attract women because they can satisfy their need. The vast majority of polish men living in Poland is not as powerful and cannot provide the security an average englishman can.

During my studies in France and England it was very funny to see that all the polish girls would mix and make relationships with western europeans while polish guys would either have polish gf or not at all.

The same goes in Greece, my homeland. There are numerous polish girls with greek guys but I have never met nor ever heard about a greek girl with a polish guy. The same happens with every nationality of economic immigrant.

So, it is a question of power that in today's world translates into money. The basic mechanisms and reflexes of a society do not change over the years

Polonia / Your opinion about Greece and the Hellenic Histrory [16]

There are many english going out of limits in Zakynthos night-life. Zakynthos has two very beautifull beaches on its northern part where sea turtles come to breed

I am more in love with the island of Ithaka. It can be seen from Zakynthos. It is 40km in the north and it has a few villagesby the sea and on the mountain. There are many small beaches with white pebles and light blue waters. My family is building a house there at the moment.Of course it is less big and crowded than Zakynthos.

Not that i agree with this kind of barbaric acts but...maybe you could leave a burned "cerwona-biała" out of her door. It would make her blood freeze
