News / HUMANE TREATMENT FOR CHRISTMAS CARP in POLAND [55]

Check out the show Deadliest Catch on Discovery. It's about crab fishing in the Bering Sea and what they go thru just to fish crabs. I can't believe that many people want to eat it.

Love / Friendship With a Polish Women [29]

I hate to be the one to tell you...chances are she's not interested and almost cold when she realizes you might want more than a work relationship. This thought enters her mind and she doesn't like you in that way, so she wonders what she can do without hurting your feelings. She might be thinking this guy is really getting on my nerves, I don't really want to be with him outside of work. Why can't he take a hint?

News / HUMANE TREATMENT FOR CHRISTMAS CARP in POLAND [55]

Is carp highly developed? The fish is on the lower end of the food chain and will be eaten. Give it enough water to breath in until it's time to cook dinner.

The only two seafood I can't stand: crabs and lobsters

I am always amazed fishing boats will go thru so much just to catch those spoilt tasting crabs. If it were up to me, they would never need a season because all crabs would be left in the sea. Same with icky lobsters.

All other fish taste ok.

News / Does Poland count in Europe or is it ignored? [428]

(mind my word perfectly, I am certain you omitted it)

I doubt all Polish people born and raised in Poland speak it perfectly. There's always people who have bad grammar and mispronounce words in every country ;)

You are right about language being a nationality factor in Europe and Asia, but not so much elsewhere.

Oh, she is Aussi" just from the way a person speaks.

I can't tell the difference between the Aussie accent and the British one nor the Canadian and American. Same goes for Latin American countries. All speak Spanish, one speaks Portugese, yet they are not actually from Spain or Portugal.

It depends on where you are in the world.

After all, they speak perfect Polish and that is the most important factor in recognizing one`s nationality, isn`t it?

Oh yes. I speak English, I must be from the UK.

When you think about it, language doesn't have much to do with one's nationality at all. In America, we are not English, yet, the majority speaks English. In Canada, not everyone's English or French, yet those are the languages they speak. Same goes for Australia. Your nationality is one thing, your language is something else.

News / Farrell makes the statement that a type of dinosaur was even 'dumber' than Poles [19]

It's how blacks and jews got Hollywood to listen...make a huge fuss over the black face and cheap shots by comedians. I suggest the Polish community make as big a fuss as possible or Hollywood will get the message it's okay to pick on the Polish...but no one else. Even fat people are getting picked on less and less.

It's just a tasteless joke at the beginning of the film. The entire film sounds so commercial and the true fans of Land Of The Lost the series are getting ripped off. It sounds like they were trying to do the same thing they did with The Brady Bunch. Make the movies really raunchy while the television shows were these benign productions.

The jokes in Land of the Lost are most likely, completely witless humor designed to make a Neanderthal laugh.

I've never seen the film, but have seen the original television series. The film didn't do that well in theatres.

I just clicked the link. I can't believe what they did to this show...which was originally for kids. They gave it a "PG-13" rating and sleazebagged it up. Yes. Avoid it!

UK, Ireland / Why Poles choose to die instead going home? [12]

Why only Poles have this fate, live in tents in very harsh conditions?

Poles aren't the only ones. There can be several explanations. In this case, the shelter was closed, so, these people might have not had any options in Thetford. Maybe they thought they could tough it out for a few days of cold weather. Maybe depression is a factor, and they don't care what happens. Maybe they wanted to stay because they like the UK.

Life / Why do so many people in Poland have issues with Judaism? [69]

What mindset? I don't like imperialism or land grabbing, period!

It's been happening for centuries. What do you propose the world do about it? Everyone that ever took land give it back to the people who had it before? It's not possible. People have been "stealing" land since the beginning of time. Does anyone really own any land, or does it all belong to the strongest and those with the best weapons while we only have the illusion of ownership?

Life / Why do so many people in Poland have issues with Judaism? [69]

Seanus, that's just one part of it. To add insult to injury, the majority of Israeli Jews are far too liberal for the Arab population so it makes it harder for them to get along and want to cooperate. Before you bring up how the Israelis took land from the Palestinians, keep in mind that Europeans have been taking land for centuries, so please, do not get self righteous.

At some point, some willl be given back, but face reality, the Israelis aren't going to give everything they took to the Palestinians any more than the American govt is going to give everything back to the native Americans, or the Spanish to the Native Americans of Mexico, and on and on and on. Is Australia going to give everything back to the Aborignees? They should, by your logic, because they came in and took it. Britain just came in and took that land from the natives.

You are going to have to get beyond that mindset, Seanus, because your part of the world has done more taking than any other.

What is your take on Kosovo and how it applies to the ME conflict?

They are two different conflicts entirely. Part of the middle east crisis is that Israel is percieved as being too liberal, which, in this case, is just a euphemism for "western", since many Diasporadic Jews adopted customs of the lands they lived in for generations and these customs aren't as conservative. The Old Testament gives insight into this and can be used as a blue print to avoid disaster. What could the ancient Israelites do to avoid trouble? Follow the commandments of God. That was it. Many times, they did not and the results were not good. It's not that I consider myself to be a conservative, because I believe in flow, but the Bible clearly states many times throughout the Old Testament, it's in the best interest of Israelites to follow God's commandments and not stray.

Since the whole reason Jews have moved to the Middle East is to preserve their heritage, their culture and way of life should revolve around what is in the Old Testament. Their commandments say they are a conservative people. Otherwise, why have commandments? Why have Judaism? Judaism was conservatism in a sea of liberalism. That is why it came about in the first place. It's only natural that Israel be a conservative state, since that is what Judaism is about to begin with. The whole point is keeping God's commandments or you might as well go be a Pagan.

Seanus, one of the major complaints is Israel isn't as strict as other countries and there's a clash of values. Too many non traditional values. If you read the old Testament, you will see, there were times of lawlessness when the Israelites ignored the commandments God gave to Moses on Sinai and when this happened, God punished the Israelites. God doesn't want the Israelites to be a liberal people. He wants them to follow his commandments. It's not that much different from Islam, in that respect.

Even if you don't believe in what the Bible says, you have to look at the underlying meaning and refer to the stories as metaphors.

It's strange, you see the same situation happen over and over in Hebrew history. It must have a significant meaning. It should not be rationalized away or ignored.

Judaism becomes too liberal, and then there's trouble.

Seanus, I say, reconnect the Palestinians with their possibly Jewish roots and tone down the liberal craziness in Israel and we could have people who want to share Judaism living together in the Israel, including Jerusalem.

As for the liberal Jews in Israel, I refer them to their own stories about the sinners and God's wrath. God would want them to tone it down.

Sigh. Why not let Yehudi have his country? Why insist on telling him that he doesn't deserve one?

I'm not anti Israel. In fact, after spending some time reading threads on PF, I am more pro Israel than I was before. I can see Israel is needed to preserve the Jewish culture and religion. In the past, it couldn't sustain itself for various reason, it's Jewish inhabitants lost control of Jerusalem and the region. Even if most of the people there are Jewish converts, I believe Judaism should have that tiny fragment of land.

What we need to do, is get people to realize how they are connected to their past, not just connected to Islam. Once the Palestinians realize their ancestors could have been Jewish two thousand years ago, they could embrace Israel. Israel needs to become a bit less liberal and in line with the middle eastern countries. Judaism was there before Islam. It seems like, Islam replaced it.

Yeah, Germany is so close to Southern Russia. I can actually walk from Hamburg to Russia in less than 20 hours!

It's closer to Hungary which is closer to Khazaria. Khazaria was close to Russia, too.
It's almost a given that Hungarian Jews were Khazars.

Poland and Russia were fertile breeding grounds for them, PP.

You forgot Hungary, and at one time, Germany. What you also forgot to mention is the proximity of these places to the the old Khazarian empire.

LOL Ever heard of exile and transport?

Some might have gotten there that way. Perhaps, some were converts. People associate "convert" with "less Jewish". According to Judaic law, that isn't the case. It's alright to admit to being converts.

Life / Why do so many people in Poland have issues with Judaism? [69]

Polish forums has it's fair share of threads about Jews due to the unique history of Poland and because Jews lived in Poland for quite a while, so it's natural for people to wonder where the Jews were before they moved to Poland, where did they come from before that. It's understandable. People are curious about what happened after Hadrian destroyed their Temple and if Jews in the middle east are descendants of Israel's original twelve tribes. It's just normal curiosity and questions everyone who knows or wants to know something about Polish/Jewish history has. I've always wondered how the Jews got to Europe, where did they come from, and why their eyes are blue and skin very light. I've also wondered what Old Testament Jews looks like, and the ones in the New Testament.

Love / Are expensive gifts offensive to polish guys? [30]

An expensive gift is never offensive but give at your own risk. Just because you give someone an expensive gift won't make them like you or want to be with you forever.

Life / Duży Lotek (Polish Lottery) - How to Claim a Prize? [11]

Lottery winnings are taxed? That's news to me.

Most definitely they are! It's a hefty tax, too. The govt takes a good chunk of the money if it's something like 45 million, you only get 35 or so.

Food / Eggs - how do you like yours? Poached? Unfertilised? [60]

I like mine scambled, hard boiled, sometimes fried. I like scrambled with three whites per one yolk. Devilled eggs are good. Pasteurized egg whites are great in fruit juice smoothies.

Life / Why are Polish people so ruthless? [87]

Most likely yes, they will treat me like dirt after I have helped them.

I'm not really sure what's going on. Sometimes, people don't want to like someone just because they did nice things for them. They feel like you are being nice to them just to weasle something out of them and they don't want to reciprocate. It's just part of life. Some people want to be friends, while others do not.

Life / Why are Polish people so ruthless? [87]

I fell in love with a Polish colleague so deeply that I took it upon myself to learn the language, albeit I am not fluent but can have conversations. However I never did anything wrong, we remained very close friends. Then one day she just decided I was nothing when her boyfriend gave her hassle because she is not allowed to have male friends. The last time I saw her was nearly a year ago.

I don't know if this has got anything to do with it? It's a bad idea to get involved with people at work because if it doesn't work out, people tend to take sides.
