Polonia / Germans: Do Poles like them or dislike them? [217]

hehe Frank I dont think we agree on this

Rome and thre third reich didnt fall over night either :P Im saying they failed due to oppressive regimes. The EU is not.

The euro, i share your sentiments also that it may last. And Currencies you gave as examples, eh, you didnt mention any in particular or am i blind? what are these 3 other european currencies that have failed before?

Both poor examples frank!

both were empires, run by masters and slaves

now your not a stupid person so i dont need to point out the differences between them and the EU.

where is the difference between Irish-speaking Irish and non-Irish-speaking Irish?

that IS your only differnce! are americans who are not native, not americans because they cant speak cherokee or hudson?

I am native irish, and i speak little irish - doesn't make me less irish at all.

"Deportation of Germans from former German lands to Germany, as a result of peaceful solution to stop future possible multicultural conflicts is right and Germany has been punished and they deserve it" - Are those words - made him Nazi?

a nazi under a different name would smell as sweet

...that basically means, yes. Germany made its reparations (served its time for the crime) and MOVED on ages ago! germany was one of thr founding nations of the EU poland is now apart of!

and is funding (with the rest of the EU) polish infrastructe, CAP, et al!!!

telling germans to get out is ludicris!!!

...and racist

News / Poland over the next 10 years? [79]

my two cents,

Ireland did not have anybody come home for hundreds of years! It was not until the start of the 1990'd that they did! p1990 population 2.5m, today itss near 4.6m (including poles etc etc)

minority of native Irish and Scottish peoples

your just trying to provoke it now aren't you! :)

There are english, irish, welsh and scottish people. Some unified under the term 'Great britain' with ENgland as its mainland.

However, we are all European (geographically & politically)

Polonia / Germans: Do Poles like them or dislike them? [217]

Russians quoted as saying their current enemies are Poland and Lithuania........EU may only be a temporoary entity...so you'd be surprised....!

Id retort and call your view pessimistic.
And your quote is out of context. Russia did not say lithuania and Poland is Russia's enemy in WWII, Armageddon context at all! and Russia is not about to 'MARCH ON WARSAW!' so id add sensationalism to your post :)

the EU is an ideal! and its 50 years since! and it has achieved more than 5,000 years! or any empire or dictator could do! thats due to the power of democracy (with all its flawS)

Dont think the EU is going to crumble overnight frank

daffy if only it was always like that...but I can guarantee you..if trouble arises...then make no mistake.......all old past differences/emnities will be raked over as if they happened just 24 hrs ago....

Thats could be said of your brother frank - put in a situation outside of normal control! just watch 'lost' :)

Its part of why EU is about unity - so that it cannot happen again

'lest we forget'

Don't get your feathers all ruffled Daffy.....it's better than personally attacking members of the forum

Quoting: Babylon
I mean what you feel in your heart when you think Germany or Germans, remember that Politician view originate from peoples, Hitler was chosen by peoples, they knew what was his politic view and they voted YES WE WANT YOU.

Hitler took advantage of a people that were down and out - you can get a hungary man do to almost anything for food! Hitler manipulated, the nazis manipulated to accomplish their MINORITY views. They told the german people what they wanted to hear and abused their trust.

There is no excuse for what the nazi's did - it was a crime. Do not paint all the german people for such. I wonder to accuse ALL americans for dropping the atomic bomb?

Move on mate! tackle real issue's like, rape, peodophila, vandalism, hooliganism! crimes of TODAY rather than this bullsh1t thread

UK, Ireland / Polish Degrees for a social care work in the UK [5]

short answer, NO. :( most eastern degrees are not recognised

Please check with EU websites or your university. BECAUSE all EU institutions have no GRADED degrees in each country. In ireland an 'ordinary degree' is level 8 i think, honours fegree is level 9 i think. something like that.

Also, The degree you have will help you get 'exemptions' in Irish & UK colleges to get a 'shorter' time to get their versions

Love / Polish girls are polish girls [6]

well i found my gf very special! ive been with few nationalities and she is the best! (i know its an individual thing - but i see many of her traits in her friends to a degree too)

Its a generalisation Paul yes -but why do men like brazillians or italians? there is a reason stereotypes exist.

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

well i thought Ireland featured in the poles 'like list'?

And Ive encountered the 'we hate the germans cos they think they are better than us' thing. its just as bad as the irish, 'we hate the english, 700 years of occuption etc etc.'

My gf though, has a fascintation with the Russian language and wishes to learn it...i dont really have a position, I like the Choral music and the hats :P hehe ok ok, it goes deeper than that, i like alot of cultures really, elements thereof. But i havent come across pole not liking russia attitude but i can understand if they do! (that whole catholic priests as secret police spies...yea)

Every country has there rivals and there friends, generally speaking

UK, Ireland / Polish Thoughts on Britain and the British [273]

eh, Ireland is in two parts, Northern (british & irish passports) and the Republic of Ireland (south) nothing to do with the United Kingdom.

Considering over 700 years trying to gain independance from tyrannical rule seems only fair to keep the distinction. Today i say, go EU!!!

I hope that the idea of being european citizens is a growing one! though we are all incredibly different on cultural levels, we do share alot of idealogys....my impression anyway

Love / Do you think that Poles are faithful [74]

Yes, it is a growing trend unfort. that men and women cheat, i dont know if men cheat more than women (they just talk about it more!)

which worries the hell outta me! that if my girl/wfe cheated on me, she wouldnt say???

and how would i know?

scary stuff - i wouldnt cheat and would hope not to be cheated on

As to generalising polish - nah, its an individual thing, you either are or are not

I just really want to raise a family with my girlfriend, living in a beautiful place (not meaning big house, but a lovely part of the world)

is it so much to ask?

Love / relationship with polish man [40]

laura, i bet you £10 you stop sex or love making and he would be gone.

i dont mean to be cold hearted - i just feel that - if he loves you, he will understand and respect your wishes until HE gets a divorce

Life / Situation of women in Poland and the society [25]

bollix! pick any country in the world and you can find any statistic to support women are an under appreciatted being.

It is unfair to single out poland. my experiences have been that its very equal and agree with the statement that she is the boss in the home! i live in a house of 4 men and my mother is definitly the boss hehe!! :)

and in poland the same! my gf (girlfriend) for eg is doing a masters in university and so are here friends!

you could take that speech of yours and erase the word poland and insert any freaking country!!! but its not as bad as you make it out in the EU
