Genealogy / Polish and Slavic too(?) [7]

So like the quoted chap said he'd only just learnt from his uncle he had Polish roots AND SLAVIC ONES TOO. Does that not suggest that Slavic here is being treated as something separate.

or he could just be ill informed and stupid?

Food / Why did Taco Bell leave Poland? [82]

Taco bell came to London too and had a prime spot in Leicester Square but disappeared after a very short time in the early or mid nineties. Maybe nobody in Europe took to it? It was fairly nasty by all accounts.

UK, Ireland / Why do Poles come to England? [514]

Another thing I'm trying to show you is to expose how much ignorance is around us

I won't say how many of you have got Univ. education because i could count them on my hands :)

Yes well obviously you would know about ignorance...:)

History / Polish contribution to England during war [62]

I have grown up with the thinking of England controlling Britain so when I say British or English it's the same thing...
While Scotish or irish or Walish is an other matter (more respect to thoose parts except for Wales know little about that part

Well you're wrong, and mistaken on more than one count.
Great Britain = England Scotland and Wales.
Most power is concentrated in Scotland.

News / ARE POLISH PEOPLE TAKING OUR JOBS OR DOING OUR JOBS??!! DISCUSS. [126]

Would you like to wipe toilets, mop floors, pick up garbage, or paint fences?

That is such an old myth...trust me those are NOT the jobs that Polish people are doing here, I have said it before so sorry if I am repeating myself, but Polish workers in UK are electricians, dental receptionists, supermarket workers, insurance sales ppl, doctors, nurses, etc etc. It's time for this silly cliche of "Polish workers do jobs that Brits don't want" to be knocked on the head for good.

Oh and Polomintz nobody can read your posts.
Maybe put them in a normal readable font?

News / ARE POLISH PEOPLE TAKING OUR JOBS OR DOING OUR JOBS??!! DISCUSS. [126]

....i mean no wonder they are all honeys:D

hardly.....
There were two Polish biatches who both had faces like bags of spanners in a restaurant the other night, making rude comments about everyone around them. The only thing you could say about them was that they were skinny.

Quite honestly we all have to just get on with it and do our best to get work in any part of EU.

Food / Is there McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut etc in Poland? Food survey. [222]

Maybe there are some closet McD`s lovers...lol

oh yes!!!
The thing with MCD's is they HAVE SO MUCH RIGHT!!!
Their restaurants are bright, clean, affordable, noisy, clean loo's, and anonymous.
Ideal for families! And they give out free toys and have ketchup taps!! What's not to like?
Shame the food is shite.;(

UK, Ireland / "Polish ambassador warns - think twice about coming to Britain for work " [126]

its time poles woke up to the fact that brits or irish working in poland do nothing for POLAND.

its a level playing field now

in your tiny mind, obviously not.
The handful of British and Irish working in Poland are a tiny fraction of the MILLIONS of Poles who are just in UK or Ireland for financial gain, many of whom spend most of their time being bloody rude to and about the people here.

Love / Received an email from a young Polish woman - Is she too good to be true? [70]

'Get a nice woman of your own age.' I have been trying for over a year but apart from all the emotional/relationship baggage women of my age seem to lug around with them, they just can't keep up with me, if you know what I mean ;-)

yeh sure...
or in other words you're a sad old perve? who else would even be entertaining scam emails?

Travel / Ski holiday - suggestions for ski resorts and chalet contacts [14]

lonely
This year we went to Zieleniec which is near Kłodzko and Duszniki Zdroj.
It was a fantastic holiday.
There is a website with accomodation contacts.
sadly I have lost the number for a really good agrotouristic guest house just out of the vilage, but you might find it on the website. It was at Laszowka.

UK, Ireland / "Polish ambassador warns - think twice about coming to Britain for work " [126]

until very recently, many people didn't want the lousy jobs that Poles were doing.

Just recently I have dealt with a Slovakian WPC, a Polish dental receptionist, a Polish doctor, a Polish cafe owner, and a Polish life insurance salesperson.

These are not lousy jobs.

I think it's sad for someone with no degree but perfect natural English after say, 9 years in UK, to return to Poland's inflexible job market where the college paper seems to be everything.

Language / Polish dictionary that included English pronunciation [11]

I'm looking for a dictionary that works in the same manner, does anyone know of one that works like this?

You could just study the phrasebook and learn which letters make which sounds....? It's not like English with thousands of variables..what u see written is what u say..

Life / The Elderly and their Psyche in Poland. [20]

Maybe its because we care. Giving respect to the dead is something humans have been doing since the beggining of time

sure but if it involves bankrupting yourself it seems somewhat misplaced........maybe it's like "keeping up with the Joneses"......"oo look we could afford a bigger headstone than them next door".

Respect can be given without spending money u don't really have, a flower bed, a bench with a nameplate, whatever.

Life / The Elderly and their Psyche in Poland. [20]

if a person is dead would you rather pay 1,000 PLN for an average funeral or 20,000 PLN for a grand one with tomb stone to match??

the cheap one.......what do they care if they're dead?

Food / Is it just me, or is the Polish diet rather unhealthy? [119]

Brits eat beans for breakfast

they do?
weird.
I love Polish food and don't see it as "unhealthy" at all....it's all made with fresh ingredients, not from a packet like so much English food.

Life / Why do Poles drink so much? [161]
