Love / ARE POLES ROMANTICS?? [36]

OK Arien - we can agree to mostly disagree. But for the record I am not looking for a virgin type. And don't stereotype me as a Chrsitian prude, because I think you are trying to do that in some sense. I just have my tastes and know what I do not want. I guess I haven't been jaded to the point where I've given up on being a "one woman man". I still have fairly good morals and still feel things. Don't emotions and feelings separate us from the animals?

Love / ARE POLES ROMANTICS?? [36]

ARIEN- you are something else, you know that? And kind of an a s s . I don't have time to be specific because I'm visiting family right now, but a lot of what you write is what's wrong with modern day society. Sounds like you are the typical sleaze at the bars? :) Kidding! Anyways buddy, I don't wanna f girls that are f-ing other guys! If that makes me conervative than so be it! Not my taste (no pun intended)

I also have an Austrian roommate with a girl back home, and he says he would never cheat on her. He seems more conservative and down to earth (but we'll see). He'll be in Canada for a year. I thinks it's awesome he's not some sleaze bag who's just travelling abroad to bed other women. See, that's romantic!

Anyways, I would love to find out more about other European cultures and how romantic they are in relation to Polish people (I still think the Poles are more romantic than Swedes or Germans). If anyone has any experience that is. For example, the Italians are stereotyped as being romantics.

Merry Chrsitmas everyone! And dont' fight.
Wesołych Świąt.

Love / ARE POLES ROMANTICS?? [36]

so were you hanging out with them, or were you interested in one of the women.

Not interested in any of them. I am just judgmental and base my opinions on the experiences I've had with people for an extended period of time. What I was doing was comparing my mentality/beliefs to theirs. And funny enough they turned out to be these stereotypically Euro people who think Canada is too conservative :)

Look- it's not secret that a lot of women in Scandinavian/Western nations have turned their backs on family, etc. You know, the whole "liberated" women BS. Hence the question- are Poles still romantics at heart?

Love / ARE POLES ROMANTICS?? [36]

Hello Everyone,

I live in Toronto and have had the "pleasure" of getting to know two Germans (male and female) and a Swede (female). They are studying here but going back to their countries after the New Year. Anyways after hanging out with them on a few occasions I've learned that they are your stereotypically liberal thinking Western Europeans- mostly after casual sexual relationships and anti-family. Being raised Polish in Canada, I feel like I've had a greater sense of family values instilled in me- and I am proud of that. Also the two Germans and Swede do not seem to identify with Christianity (this does not surprise me). The German guy said that Germans do not really date. I found this hard to understand.

Some of the Poles I've known in Canada seem to to much more pro family and not so cold. So I would like to know if Poles in Poland are still the pro-family, romantic types? I would think for the most part they are. But I'm not joking when I say this- after meeting the Germans and Swede, I am not attracted to these kinds of cultures and people, if this is the norm that is. But I have read that the Germans are cold like this :)

Life / How do Polish people view themselves? [92]

Often times, I've gone too far with my "Polishness" for this reason. It's not that were arrogant (or at least I try not to be) its just that we are proud to be Polish, even if nobody else cares.

I don't give a sh*it about the wops and leprechauns. It's the American Jewish owned media that doesn't like Poland (and Germans either). That's why North Americans don't know much about Poland. But I'm always supporting Poland wherever I go. And yes the Arabs and Russian are apes :)

Life / GERMANS LIVING IN POLAND vs POLES LIVING IN GERMANY [30]

I live in Canada but have family in the Wrocław region of Poland. I read that in that part of Poland especially Opole, there is a German minority. Apparently they have German speaking schools and their own media (newspapers). But I hear that in Germany, Poles don't have as many rights. For example, can the Polish community in Germany open up Polish churches like we can do here in Canada? Are Poles allowed to start Polish newspapers for the ex patriot community? How are the Germans accepted in Poland? I am curious about all of this and would be glad if someone could clear things up for me.

News / NEW PATRIOT MISSILES FOR POLAND [178]

Does Poland want to get burned again?

Why would they get burned??? A sovereign nation has a right to protect itself any way it wants. In fact I don't know why countries even disclose the kinds of weapons they have.

News / NEW PATRIOT MISSILES FOR POLAND [178]

WARSAW, Oct 16 (Reuters) - A senior U.S. official told Poland on Friday it could be one of the sites for interceptors envisaged under President Barack Obama's revised plans for missile defence in Europe.

Poland and the Czech Republic are still smarting from Obama's decision to shelve a Bush-era plan to install elements of a missile shield on their territory to protect against possible long-range missile attacks by Iran.

Under the new project, Washington will first deploy sea-based interceptors and then in a second phase deploy land-based systems involving SM-3 interceptors targeting short and medium-range missiles.

Article from Reuters.

Discuss.

News / Poland Rejects US Missile Shield (talks will continue...) [80]

The times of unconditional Polish support for USA have just ended and hopefully they
will never come back.

I need a few clairifications: I thought Poland received those F-16's like they were supposed to. Also, Tusk said that the USA will still give Poland 100 missiles for it's own defense. Sorry for this but I'm following this stuff from Canada.

Is there anything else I should know concerning this?

Food / Is it just me, or is the Polish diet rather unhealthy? [119]

I wouldn't go as far as to call the Polish diet unhealthy. I grew up with a lot of Polish soups and my mom makes a salad called "mizeria". Tomato and cucumber mixed with cream. Very good.

I always tell westerners that pierogies for example aren't supposed to be fried. Bigos I would not call fattening either. Even Polish bread is more nutritious than that cheap white Italian s'hit. Funny enough people seem to agree that the Medit. diet is the best but the Medit. ppl are the most over weight (Italians, Greeks).

News / Gazeta Wyborcza: US Backing Off Polish Missile Bases [40]

Don't think so , if the economy is in so good state, where are thousands immigrants from other country's?
Why Poles are forced to work and live in the foreign lands?

Look at it differently: Poland's economy is quite comofortable and the country's not in a recession- while there are a few thousand Polish workers abroad!!! What does this tell you? That Poland has a surplus of skilled workers. Smart, motivated, skilled workers don't need to emigrate. Poland is still lucky they don't have to import Indians or Chinese people to work for them :)

News / Gazeta Wyborcza: US Backing Off Polish Missile Bases [40]

Hmmmmmm: the Georgia conflict happened about a year ago. Poland immediately agreed to host the missiles. Russia got hostile. Bush left and Obama came in. Now about a year later the Yankee's seem to be backing out on this missile business. Is it possible that Poland agreed to this just to pis's off the Russians and say "we can do what we like" knowing all along that this was a bogus deal? Is this all one big game???

Life / Wonderful Poland.......but the attitude of Polish people [150]

I think a lot of Poles are racist. I also think I know why. There are not that many foreigners here, so they are a couple of generations behind (as compared to UK) in gaining experience of living with foreigners.

Let me tell you something: MULTICULTURALISM DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!
I came to Canada when I was 6 years old (25 years old now). Have lived in Toronto almost 4 years. This city is totally different from the rest of Canada. They predict that by 2012 white Europeans will be a minortiy in a city that was established by white Europeans! Hello. Maybe time to wake up?

Now there's a ton of Hindu's, Paki's, Tamils, Arabs, Blacks and Asians (Chinese). Guess what? They all stick together!! You think you'll ever see an Asian with a Hindu? Never seen it. The Chinese do not like them. I do see a lot of white men with Asians though :)

But I digress. The point is that there is more crime now in Toronto, people are ruder than ever. Hmm I wonder why? There are also gang problems- black gangs!!! Why is it that wherever black's go then they turn those neighbourhoods to shi't??? South Central Los Angeles, Bronx+Brooklyn (NYC), New Orleans, Detroit is a black hole, parts of Toronto, Paris suburbs- there's more. These are not coincidences!!! Look at Africa for christs sake! I believe it's in their blood. Poland is very lucky that is still homogenous. I hope they do not make the mistake of following western nations in this multi-cult cra'p because it will destroy the country again. By the way I had a French roommate who told me because of all the goddam muslims moving to France that they they'll see a civil war in his life time. Interesting isn't it? They only people who preach tolerance are the ones who have never lived in a multicultural society.

Life / POLISH MALES FAVOR FAMILIES, FATHERHOOD [8]

Polish feminists trying to paint Polish males as insensitive, irresponsible machos

I wonder why that is? Oh well let them run to Arabs.

Life / PAYING TO TAKE A PISS IN POLAND, it's BIZARRE [77]

Or do people still have to buy a coffee and a donut (or a breakfast) first if they want to pisss?

OK fair point. Some- and I stress "some" places lock their bathrooms and only open them if you're a paying customer. Usually these are mom and pop businesses. But I'd say 90% of public places like airports, train/bus stations, shopping centres and big chain restaurants/coffee shops don't give a damn if you use their facility to pee. I always manage to sneak into a Tim Hortons for a leak. If it's night and everything's closed than I find a brick wall hehehehe. The girls though don't have that option unfortunately.

News / Dealing with constant insults against Polish [323]

Also what part of the country do you live in?

MediaWatch
Thanks for that great answer. I actually live in Toronto, Canada. In terms of media, we are saturated with American shows and news. We used to get Stern and Opie and Anthony up here but they were taken off the air. Has Stern smeared the Poles lately on his show??

I have seen S.W.A.T and know exactly which scene you're talking about. It wasn't funny or necessary to the plot of the film. If there was a sequel to it I wouldn't go see it.

As for Amy Poehler, I know she made a crack about us concerning the missile defense system on SNL. What else has she said? Now is her ancestry Jewish or German?

In my opinion the only good Jews in Hollywood are Steven Spielberg and Roman Polanski.

Life / PAYING TO TAKE A PISS IN POLAND, it's BIZARRE [77]

I think it's a good idea. It keeps the bums from going in for nothing and making a mess

I don't buy it. In Toronto there's loads of bums and beggars. They don't all crowd public toilets. Public places like shopping centers all offer free pee service. If there's a problem with bums then security just kicks them out or the owner will do it. When I go to Poland I can never get used to this idea of paying to urinate. It's a basic human function. What if you have one or two złotys and you have to decide between peeing or for a ticket home?? Or what if you've got a weak bladder? You'd go broke ehehehehehe.

Life / PAYING TO TAKE A PISS IN POLAND, it's BIZARRE [77]

I live in Canada and couldn't get over the custom of paying to take a goddam leak when out in public. Why is this done? North Americans must hate that cr*p. I know I did. I understand the French also have this custom. Did the Poles pick it up from them?

What other EU countries make you pay to take a p*ss?

Love / POLISH GIRLS AND LOOSE JEANS [36]

What city did you noticed this ?

I was in Warsaw, Wroclaw, Brzeg. I saw Anna Przybylska online the other day and happened to get a glance of her ass. The jeans were loose. Not ass tight. And she's very tight.

This is loose to me

Love / POLISH GIRLS AND LOOSE JEANS [36]

Ok this topic is totally random but I have to ask this.
When I was in Poland recently I noticed that most women there wear loose fitting jeans. Here in Canada where I live most women wear very ass tight jeans no matter where they may be. It could be winter or fall but the jeans/pants are usually ass tight (whether they have the body for it or not). If you live in N.America and have travelled to Poland you may know what I mean.

Fun topic to discuss.

Love / Polish interracial dating [333]

Nick- you speak the truth. Number one it's good that there's not too many Africans in Poland. Secondly, if Polish broads wanna experiment so badly they can do so at their own risk. Usually it's the dumb ones. I myself have seen in Toronto in poor ass neighbourhoods white trash girls, smoking, pushing a stroller and I take a look at the kid and it's mulato. Never see a daddy though. Serves them right.

News / What is the future of Catholic church in Poland. [154]

I hope the young Poles continue to see that Poland is a special place and should not try to imitate all things western.

That is such a great quote! Seriously- a quote for the ages.
I am a young Pole (living in Canada) and yes the west isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Poland shouldn't change to be like everyone else. Be unique. Don't be like the French and look away from Catholicism (their roots) while being taken over by Muslims slowly but surely (it's a fact, sorry).

I have a st**id Canadian acquintance who was Catholic but now claims to hate the Catholic church because of it's "backward'' ways. He claims to be Atheist and therefore more "progressive". Fine, people can have opinions on these matters. But I've told him before that once he gets sick or his family becomes gravely ill he'll be on his knees praying to God.

News / POLAND'S CREDIT CRAZE [34]

My parents are in shock how much in debt Poles have gotten themselves into. I have a cousin who's building a house in Oława for 400,000 złoty. He drives VIP's between Poland and Germany as his main source of income. He's basically an above average taxi driver. My parents say his kids will be paying off their mortgage in the future.

News / Dealing with constant insults against Polish [323]

The media is reluctant to say good things about both Germany and Poland

So in your opinion this anti- Polish campaign is still being implemented by the American media? I'd like to hear more from you in this regard.

I dunno about you but I haven't heard any real racist type jokes about Poles on TV in years. I'd say the "hey day" of Polish jokes was in the 60's and 70's with shows like "All in the Family". I know Howard Stern's gotta problem with us (him being an American Jew) and I heard Opie and Anthony on the radio call Poles "stupid Polaks" sometime in 2001. But they've been off the air in my area for years.

News / POLES STILL NEED VISAS TO THE U.S.A!! [84]

So since lots of people want to see the USA we should allow even more people in there who will stay illegally and put more of a burden on the US?

Just want to point out that Prime Minister Harper took down the visas for Poles travelling to Canada this year. Proportionally Canada has just as many Poles living here just as America does. The standard of living is better in Canada than in America and Poles do stay here illegally as well. Didn't stop Canada from abolishing visa requirements. Now Polish students can travel here for student exchange programs and Poles can travel here for business without a hassle.
