Life / Scientology in Poland [24]

Scientologists believe that when they die they are taken to a station in Venus where they are cleansed and then return to earth.

I would far rather believe that a virgin got pregnant to a guy that was also his father and then died but then came alive again and lets bad stuff happen now and then to make him look smart ( cos only he knows why it happened ).Oh, and he also gave Scotland a s**te football team.

History / Polish contribution to England during war [62]

I was talking about Polands contribution to the BRITISH!

Sorry, I thought you said -

Polish contribution was very small in the Napolenic era when thinking of contributing England.

It's what the threads name is right?

No, the threads title is
Polish contribution to England during war

History / Polish contribution to England during war [62]

I think Polish contribution was very small in the Napolenic era

Two of the best Marshals that Napoleon had were Józef Antoni Poniatowski and Jacques MacDonald.

History / The Battle of Vienna - Poland helped save Europe [57]

Certainly thats what the French did !
At that time in history were the Germans allies of the Poles ?
They also had to keep fighting the Turks for another 16 years.

UK, Ireland / Exhibition celebrates Bonnie Prince Charlie's Polish links [18]

Can anyone clarify whether it is Sobieski or Sobieska ? Or are the two names interchangeable ?
There are many Polish/Scottish links from this era. For example,Maurice de Saxe, the illegitamate Son of the King of Poland, planned an invasion of England in 1744 and defeated the Brits at the battle of Fontenoy in 1745.

Thanks for the link Eagle.

UK, Ireland / British news: The Poles might be leaving but the prejudice remains [52]

Read Costa Vs ENEL 1964 and the notion of direct effect.

I'll take your word for it.

I could speak about this notion for a long time if you want.

No, honestly ;-)

loss of sovereignty

Ok, so I suppose there are varying degrees. It would appear that in this context we are talking about willful loss of sovereignty in some areas for the greater good of your country.

you are an insignificant little upper part of the Island

So why are all the London based parties objecting to a referendum.

I'll parade my ar$e up market steet when they get total financial independence!

The rest of the UK will need to rent its ar$e whenn Scotland gets total financial independence - to help pay for the loss in revenue !

Hell, it'll be people from Newcastle next

Geordies are welcome to join anytime. Newcastle could be a tax free haven - a sort of Monte Carlo.

Travel / Polish Zoos and their animals [27]

OK no more Shih Tsu jokes....after this one...

A man starts his new job at the zoo and is given three tasks.

The first is to clear the exotic fish pool of weeds. He starts on this when suddenly a huge fish leaps out and bites him. He is not going to let a fish have a go so he beats the offending fish to death with a spade.

Realising that his boss is not going to be best pleased, he tries to find a way to hide the dead fish. He hits on the brilliant idea of giving the fish to the lions as lions will eat anything. So he throws the fish into the lion's cage.

He then moves on to his second job, which is to clear out the monkey house. He goes in and a couple of chimps starts throwing coconuts at him. Un-amused he swipes at the chimps with his spade, killing them instantly. He's really worried now, so what does he do? He feeds the chimps to the lions, because lions eat anything. He hurls them into the lion's cage.

Anyway, he moves on to his last job, which is to collect honey from South American bees. He starts on this and quickly gets attacked by the bees.Alarmed, he grabs his spade and smashes the bees as hard as he can, squashing them to death. By this point he is not too worried about the death of bees as he knows what to do by now. He throws them into the lion's cage, because lions eat anything.

Later that day a new lion arrives at the zoo. It wanders up to another lion and says "What's the food like in here?". The other lion says:

"Brilliant, today we had fish, chimps and mushy bees"

Edit - Doesnt the Chimp in the picture look like Barry Chuckle ( one half of the chuckle brothers ) ?

UK, Ireland / British news: The Poles might be leaving but the prejudice remains [52]

Scotland staying in the "Union" makes as much sense as Poland staying in the Soviet Bloc did.

The only country in the UK which doesn't have the right to self determination is England!

I'm all for an Independant England - go for it !

there's nothing wrong with being british.

To a lot of people there is.

never heard the level of anti scots sentiment that I hear re the english when north of the border

Obviously the English have less to complain about !

but when I hear scots moaning about the english it just sounds like chippy, little man syndrome

Indeed it does and for years the Scots were guilty of it.
Over the years Scots have realised that complaining about England gets you nowhere and that as a nation, Scotland has to look within itself to improve their lot. There is an increasing sense of national pride in Scotland.

all you deluded wanna be 45 ers

Should have stopped at Newcastle !
3000 regrouped at Ruthven after Culloden but by that time the Italian f**er Tearlach Sobieski had done a runner.

Travel / Gdansk - need some information about it [21]

If you are going to Gdansk enamour yourself by referring to it as "Danzig".

Greet the locals by saying "Pear Doll She" to everyone you meet ( saying this to doormen can also get you in free )

Koorva can mean many things and should be used liberally - in restaurants, trains, busses etc - its kinda like a universal, "Hi", "I'm OK" "Hello - "how are you" kind of thing.

A fun day out is a trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mines - its a great day out and a taxi should only cost about £5 for a round trip The Taxi driver might look surprised but just reply " Is I a beasty ? " which he will understand.

Alternatively, you can use the search box in the top right of your screen where Gdansk will feature in many threads.

Love / Received an email from a young Polish woman - Is she too good to be true? [70]

I have a little saying: 'I may be old and at times foolish but I’m not both old and foolish at the same time!

....and there is no fool like an old fool ( where women are concerned - no offence intended - I'm sure you agree ).

First thing I would do would be to run a detailed scan of your PC, swipe your HD, reload, then change all the passwords they have taken from your PC.

she is emailing from an internet cafe.

It'll be a proxy server which will be harder for Mastercard, Visa etc to trace.
