UK, Ireland / Cheap text messages to Poland from a UK mobile? [6]

Does anyone know of a system on a mobile or over the internet to send cheap text messages from a mobile (Vodafone) in the UK to Poland (Orange)?

I have tried to find free text messaging on the internet but all have now disappeared, lycos allow you 1 text a month, the rest charge.

News / Will Poland become green? [122]

The climate is so complex that it isnt controlled by just one or two factors. Numerous influences effect the climate including CO2 emissions, el nino, sun activity etc. At present no one can say for sure exactly what is causing climate change. However the general consensus is that the Earth is warming and man is to a certain extent influencing this.

UK, Ireland / Anti-Polish sentiment of England [253]

Blackzilla i think you need to open your eyes. Britain hasnt been and still isnt the tolerant nation that you make it out to be. My ex Boss was attacked with knives in Leeds not many years ago because he is black. Go to Lincolnshire and see the looks on peoples faces when an asian or black person walks by. Not everywhere is like this but that is the same in Poland. There will always be tolerant and welcoming areas but conversely there will be hostile and violent ones.

UK, Ireland / Anti-Polish sentiment of England [253]

The racism is the UK usually stems from the poorer less well educated areas i.e. traditional industrial cites and countryside backwaters such as Burnley, Leeds, Lincolnshire. Places were the income is low, jobs are hard and unemployment high. These are now the places targetted by the BNP with some success using the immigrants stealing jobs line to fuel the deep seated fire inside the uneducated proles.

There is a vast lack of 'chances' in Poland especially for the less intelligent. I have a Polish university graduate friend who is working in a corner shop in Wroclaw as she cannot get a decent job. She has many friends and family members in the same situation. The pay is low and the cost of housing high. She is considering moving to Norway to get a decent job.

Seanus - stealing is the term the BNP use to persuade voters, not mine.

Love / Divorced Polish women [63]

Depends on how secure the guy is. He may want her undivided attention and a lady with a child/ren would be unable to give a man this.

UK, Ireland / What's So Great About The UK? [416]

The squadron that shot down most planes in the Battle of Britain was made up of Polish nationals and i am sincerely glad that they were allies.

The UK has always be innundated with immigrants from all over the world. From the vikings, gauls, romans, huns, normans, french, germans, many slaves, the irish, caribbeans. the list is endless and in most cases they have made this country what it is today.

Do not blame the Poles or any other nationality if you believe the UK is in crisis. That would be making a scrapegoat of any problems that the government has created.

The UK is 'great' compared to 2nd and 3rd world nations. British people may not think it is but that is because most have been pampered by: our health care system, unemployment benefits, education, democracy. I would like to see these naysayers live in a country such as Nigeria or the Dominican Republic and then come back and complain.

Love / Is it worth it, is my Polish guy trying to avoid me??? [49]

ancilla - i quite often have texts to my Polish friend go missing. The message received report on my phone is good for showing this up.

Sometimes the texts get 'stuck' and dont get through until one of the mobiles makes a call.

Go to Dom Vikingrow in the main square. The bar maids are the best especially Barbara (Pasche?)! and the beer and food arent bad either! ATB were in the main restaurant when i was there.

The UK has quite a good motor industry with several of the large Japanese firms having plants in the UK.

History / THE POLES ON THE FRONT LINES OF WWII [92]

how about your researches of Jewis gold robbed by nazists have you found any

From what i remember a program called "Hitler a warning from history" which is always on UKTV history, had an episode about Poland. In it there were several accounts of Polish nationals who had joined the forces of the occupying German army and were seeking out Jews and other minorities (gypsies, gays) and sending them to concentration camps and stealing their belongings.

It is an interesting incite into the way the human mind works. Altruism is a strange thing.

Best war film has to go to Where Eagles Dare. Superb

Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

Just came back from a few days in Wroclaw and i have a hearty cough. Got the same after i came back from Poznan in November. Not good as i am rarely ever ill. The smokey atmosphere in bars and clubs really effects us Brits now we have the no smoking bans in place and arent used to taking in someones second hand smoke.
