Love / Attending a Polish wedding on my own (I'm English) [25]

If you are going to a country wedding: church bit same as UK. Dinner soon turns into party. You will be seated next to a single girl who will keep looking at you. You will soon become the centre of attention with all the middle aged ladies and you will be offered Wodka very early on. Even if you say no - you will get some. They are relentless. You will drink the Wodka because the men will call you a pu*sy if you don't. Wodka has a delayed reaction. You will drink and think ,"this is nothing!". Later it will suddenly kick in - the wedding will spill out into the garden/street - you will find yourself singing your heart out with the rest (even though you don'y know the words) - you will find yourself dancing with some strange crazy woman - and the rest will be history - for you to remember for the rest of your life. Do NOT plan anything for the next day - because you are still a guest at the wedding (Day 2) Do not plan anything on the third day - because you will be very ill.

If you go to a city wedding (same as above) but there will be no garden.

Travel / What are nightclubs like in Warsaw...? [33]

First of all you can't compare Warsaw to NYC - so forget everything you know and start from scratch. If you want to go the the places where people "want to be seen" you will not find them. They are too exlusive for you - unless you know someone who knows. The street level clubs are also sometimes hard to find. They vary from tiny holes to large 2,000 capacity warehouses. Some are located in the "wild west" the area flattened by the nazis and is only now being rebuilt. Generally - they feel more innocent/fresher than western decadent (up their own a*s) clubs with an inspired mixture of good music and a light friendly atmosphere. Warsaw is not a great place to go with your girlfriend because your eyes will be temped by gorgeous women. They are all natural provocative dancers. If you are that way inclined - don't get invloved with a Polish guy when trouble flares - you will not win. There is a strong code of honour and they are all John Wayne in a saloon punch-up (if provoked)

Love / Confused, a Polish girl disappeared after I talked and danced to her [44]

Have you seen the film 'GroundHog day'? Thats what you need. Eventually you will find out what happened and/or win her heart. Girls pick up on petty, small, trivial things which can sway their opinion of you - just like that. The whole night could go well but one action or one word can take you right back. It's like studying all year with great course work and then fu*king up the exam.

Having said that - I find that the best way to attract a woman is buy TOTALLY ignoring them after a positive contact. It drives them crazy - and they want to know why...

History / Comment on YouTube regarding Powstanie Warszawskie [32]

do you really expect anyone with a serious interest in this era to believe that the Home Army could have defeated the germans in '44?
Youve obviously got your agenda, not sure what it is,but it runs contrary to logic and military facts,a **** poorly equiped resistance army has NEVER liberated a country on its own, never,no matter how brave or spirited they may be its just an imposibility without outside help, and before you ***** about the UK again just remember where the vast majority of arms and supplies for the AK came from.

Ok finally we are getting somewhere. My agenda - is to protect the honour of those fighting for freedom and justice. You see it all in black and white.

In 1939 Poland is a free sovereign country. Russia thinks she owns Poland. Russia does not want Poland to be free. Russia tries to invade Poland in 1920 but Poland kicks her a*s. FACT.

Russia is chicken and is partly responsible for WWII buy encouraging Hitler to invade. (The Pact) bla bla

Hitler kicks Russian a*s - Russia now wants to swap sides. Russia becomes ally of west including Poland.

Polish Home Army does it's part and clears Germans out of Warsaw. Yes they do defeat the Germans - they kick them out of the city. Job done. FACT. (wait for it!)

resistance army has NEVER liberated a country on its own its just an imposibility without outside help

Correct. That is why allies should work as a team. Polish home army does not get the help it needs and Germans come back. So far nothing wrong with behaviour of Poles. The Russians - hmmm?

The Russians wait because they don't want Warsaw in Polish hands.

Yes of course Russia cleared the eastern front. This is obvious. But they were clearing up their own mess. They were not fighting to liberate Poland - but to steal it.

where the vast majority of arms and supplies for the AK came from.

Yeh right - and most of the bullits didn't fit the guns.
Sometimes you really make me laugh - or is it cry.

You know the Polish army invented BlitzGrieg (Lightning war).
In 1920 the young Charles De Gaulle was fighting with Poland
against the Russian invaders. This was one of the first wars
after WW1. The polish army, after seeing slow trench warfare
did not want a repeat so they developed small mobile units of
cavalry strike forces which penetrated deep into Russian
advances and helped to confuse and defuse them - leading
to ultimate victory for the Poles. De Gaulle was intrigued by
this approach and wrote a ducument explaining how this
could be even more effective if motorized. Hitler later saw
this and put it to the test.

News / Poles learning from the British? [42]

ogorek: The Brits nicked tea from India

Tea was "nicked" from China, its not native to india...

I know - but brits nicked it from India - who nicked
it from China.

ogorek: you have a written constitution,
er,Britain doesnt have a writen constitution....what we did have though is Magna Carta in 1215,only a few hundred years before Poland had anything close....

oi dingbat - I meant proper constitution - not some tatty petition. Oh thats right Britain doesney have a proper constitution.

ogorek: why you are not a Muslim,

yeah, coz vienna didnt fall in what the renaisence....

Vienne was rescued by Sobieskis mob. From here started ottoman decline
in euro.

Never heard of a boat? 1066?

The full might of spain

the spanish were destroyed by a storm in channel not by brit

After the battle the Pope and other foreign dignitaries hailed Sobieski as the "Savior of Vienna and Western European civilization

History / Norman Davies on the Warsaw uprising [50]

And the point? Isn't it about time to stop nitpicking on who's to blame, as it's like playing in the playground of history.

I find this terribly interesting BUT with all due respect, what is the relevence of any of this to today?

A quater of a million men women and children were butchered in ways you could only begin to imagine - whilst the rest jostled for self interest - and when it was all over - the Poles were "gagged" by the allies so they could celebrate "their" victory with a clear conscience - and that those who survived the soviet executions - those who remain to this date fighting the uprising - like lost souls looking for closure - in this - unfinished business.

You will never know.

History / Russia tells teachers to lie to students about "Katyn" [139]

But I repeat you again... death of RA's soldiers is NOT a lie.

Sasha - here is the bottom line.

In 1920 RA soldiers invaded a soveriegn country - Poland. They wanted to take what was not theirs. They wanted to enslave - to take Europe after WW1. Throughout history Russia has tried to control Poland - becuause it was in the way - an inconvenience. Occasionally Poland would fight back - with affect. Russia would respond - with revenge. Poland was fighting for basic survival - against a huge 'Bully' neighbour.

In 1920 - Russia invaded Poland and tried to take it - this is a crime. Poland had enough. Soldiers were angry.

If it is true that RA soldiers died - you have to ask yourself the questions. Why were they on Polish soil. Soveriegn - FREE soil. FREE SOIL.

Ask yourself - WHY were RA soldiers on soveriegn soil?

Then you can continue....

History / Russia tells teachers to lie to students about "Katyn" [139]

it seems like the only thing your interested in doing is making everybody else cry about your history

War is War, many things happen

Don't mean to be offensive - but it's obvious that you -
your relatives - the people around you - your country
has not been fu*ked in the a*s for a loooong time.

History / Norman Davies on the Warsaw uprising [50]

but what's your point?

I'm answering your question.

what is the relevence of any of this to today?

the relevance is that people are still alive today - who were
fu*ked in the a*s in 1944 - and will have to live with that to their grave.
RESPECT them.

Many of us on this forum have lived here in Poland for years, I myself for eight years. You do not see Polish people crying over what was, rather the opposite they are survivors, and proud of this.

It's called honour and dignity. People from this generation are solid
men and women. They don't cry or moan. However - at their core -
believe me it's still very real.

History / Russia tells teachers to lie to students about "Katyn" [139]

Big news here, but hardly anyone in the world cares about Polands history, the world has moved on from 50years ago.

What you have to remember here is that Poles have moved on - a large % don't even know what happened in their past becuause thay have been brainwashwed by the communists.

Of course the world does not care about Polands history - why should it.

Here it comes...

Poles only bring up the past when people like you come onto Polish forums and threaten the Honour and Dignity of Polands EXTREMELY sensitive and tragic history - to open ones mouth without knowing what the deal is.

Poles only open their mouths when provoked.
I would not dream of commenting on the complicated problems in N Ireland.

History / Russia tells teachers to lie to students about "Katyn" [139]

So its all the visitors who come to PF that start the History threads is it??? about who killed in on 1930 odd or 1830 odd, i don't think so.

...and so...Polish Forum -

FORUM (meeting, assembly for open discussion or debate)

THAT'S WHAT A FORUM IS FOR. They discuss.
Do you know the difference between discuss and moan?
The visitors come one (not being Polish they are a little green in the
department of Polish history) and tend to pi*s off Poles (unintentionally)
The Poles defend their patch - as thay have been doing for the past 1000 years.

Sorry, but when did i do that. was i not stating my own opinions

It should be left in the past, and forgotten maybe.

This is where you dropped your clanger.

Norman Davies should shut up on your opinion then?

That's what he does professionally. He knows the deal...

Why not? Are you banned from commenting?

....I don't have much knowledge of what happened in N Ireland and
therefore cannot comment.

So may I perceive that as your consent on that RA's soldiers died? If "yes" then there's nothing to argue further about since it was the only my issue on the initial text of this thread.

No - I said "IF" - do you understand?

If "yes" then there's nothing to argue further about since it was the only my issue on the initial text of this thread.

You can't get out of this so easily. You started this issue - now finish.
Finish by answering my question.

Poland. Main goal is to restore Poland in its historical boundaries of Rech Pospolita in 1772

I was talking about 1920 - when Poland was very poor and harmless. The rest of Europe was exhausted after WW1. Russia was not provoked. She simply saw oportunity to take Europe but underestimated Polands defense.

Excuse moi. Does it sound as a statement of sovereign and innocent country that doesn't bully anybody and doesn't claim to be an empire? :)

Thank you for admitting that Russia never wants Poland to become powerful and have ambition - and would prefer her neigbour under her foot like all the others.

Sounds familiar?

News / Apology to Russians for Osetia and American missile base [78]

never heard so much bollocks in all my life.

That's why such a military base is so useless!
No planned attack against them where such a thing might be needed and in case of an attack by them it won't be used anyway...what else does it but poisening the atmosphere further?

...it's very simple. The US stated the use very clearly - to deal with rogue nations - who get their hands on nuclear weapons - AND you are not qualified/or have the information/knowledge to determine otherwise. You are all talking from your ****.

Just a matter of time - gentlemen.

Speaketh of enlightened ones - allow me to dig up good ol' Nostrodemus with rants about terror from the skies - the devastation of Western Europa by Arabs - and Europas salvation being found from vague descriptions of the Isles of Britania and opposite to her - baring to a location which currently - today - is found the land of - Polonia.

News / Poland boycotts German goods? [266]

Slavs first appeared in the area of Eatern Europe which is now Poland. They then migrated West and mainly East. The people in Poland usually being quite radical and forward thinking adopted the western alphabet into their language and also years later threw in the first modern European written constitution.

News / Poland will take half a century to catch up with the West [240]

Germany is like a big fat spoilt brat that sits in it's cot and needs constant attention and loving care - otherwise this little brat will go around smashing up all the other kids toys. The only way you can stop this brat from smashing up others childrens toys is by giving it much bigger "shinier" toys to keep it out of trouble. Uncle SAM gave this little shit lots of toys to play with and now this brat has been forced to share his toys with his reunited twin brother -so now both brats are as one with all their toys.

Next door the Polish baby gets as* f**ked by it's neighbours who take away it's toys and one of them moved in for over 40 years for regular in-house abuse. These 2 neigbours were eventually kicked the f**k out and after years of neglect the EU salvation army gave the smelly Polish baby a brand new cot and mattrasse, milk bottle, dummy, teddy - all the essentials. Because this baby was well behaved and did not demand attention, it was not spoilt with many toys to keep it out of trouble. It was only given what it needed.

News / Poland will take half a century to catch up with the West [240]

In Poland for your work you receive half the money that your French or German comrades do, and yet everything costing twice as much.

France did not fight in WWII and had to be rescued by the Americans - and therefore preserved her wealth and social well being - which thrived after the war. Paris is one huge monument to cowardice.

Germany fought a losing battle and was rewarded afterwards by the Americans to keep out of future trouble. America (and alies) rebuilt germany and now it thrives.

Poland fought alone for God honour and Country and in doing so lost everything. It was then betrayed and sold off to the retarded communists which stripped Poland of any remaining dignity and soul. Poland was held back for 50 years. Poland is just starting to recover and rebuild her cities. The above comment is ignorant and imature.

Lets make it clear - these 'fans' of communism were part of the same retarded communists I refered to earlier. These 'people' would not have had any serious influence had Poland not been betrayed.

Poland as a sovereign democratic country as a whole did not want to be communist. Who are YOU trying to kid?

many lost confidence and looked afresh for the certainty that communism provided

It's called brain washing. Poland is split in half. Under 35's/ over 35's. Most of those over 35 are brain washed - by the communists. I don't mean in a 1960's Sc-Fi show way but in social/behavioural/mentality/attitude way - being more soubtle or not depending on character.

You have strayed from the original discussion - we were talking about Poland being forced into communism and you saying 'there were many fans of communism in successive Polish governments, let's not kid ourselves' - and I was saying that Poland did not want communism. You were making out as if the Polish government was responsible for commi rule which it wasn't. Poland was sold out which gave the commi minority power to link up with rest of commis.

UK, Ireland / Supermarkets in Poland: differences and similarities to the UK. [62]

Holly - in Poland you arrive at your local supermarket - grab a trolley and you push it around the store and sellect the items that you want. When you have all you want (aided by a 'S-h-o-p-p-i-n-g-l-i-s-t' ) you go to the checkout where you checkout and pay for your shopping. They take cash - vouchers - cheques - and credit cards. When done - you load up your car and drive away.

JESUS CHRIST WHAT DO THEY THINK THIS COUNTRY IS?
