not at all - more women in the UK die from domestic violence than breast cancer - but that's not saying its all British people we have a very mixed nation, we also have a growing number of children being taken in to care due to violence and abuse but again i will make it clear that we have a large number of none nationals living and working in the UK so it's hard to say what proportion are actually British (English / Welsh & Scots) but as a country the stats are not too good.

No, I worked for an Engineering company and funnily enough they were all English,

I think the reason they DD has been made clear - its lack of respect for English law - pure and simple - same reason as speeding - in Greater Manchester circa. 10,000 cars with foreign reg plates were caught speeding but because they are not registered with the DVLA they cant fine them or give them points!!!! - but this is going to change - so hopefully if people have the same pressure as in their own country then they might think twice about breaking the law!
