News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

And the USA?

Them too but they were not involved at this time. That was later at the Yalta conference.

Labelling th e reasons for this a betrayal is your opinion

I’m not labeling this as such, I’m pointing out the lies given and it is a fact.

I will spell it out... The concept of betrayal is a subjective notion, NOT a historical fact.

Keeping true to the Franco-Polish military convention the Saar Offensive started on September 7. The attack did not result in any diversion of German troops from the Polish campaign. All together there were approximately 110 French and British divisions in the West against the 23 German divisions. If all-out assault was to be carried out Germany would have to divert some of the troops to the Western front. Germany would have been forced early on in the war to fight on two fronts and most important on its own soil, which would greatly demoralized its troops. But because of British insecurity On September 12 in Abbeville France it was decided that all offensive actions were to be halted immediately by the Anglo-French War Council. As a result; Gamelin ordered his troops to stop short of the Siegfried Line and withdrawn to the Maginot Line. Poland was not notified of this decision and Gamelin had an audacity to lie about it by informing marshal Śmigły that half of his divisions were engaging the enemy, and that French advances had forced the Germans to withdraw at least 6 divisions from Poland. Than French general informed Polish general that the planned major offensive on the western front had to be postponed from 17th to 20th of September. Yet another obvious lie knowing the decision reached in Abbeville on the 12th.

The arguments were made by some historians that if the initiative was seized by the Allies at that time the war could have been finished right there and then. Whether that is true or not is irrelevant to this discussion. These are the facts; and when you deliberately lie about the situation on the ground to your ally and break previous agreements without even notifying them of your decision I call it a betrayal. You can only speculate as to the motive for this but not if this is an act of a betrayal or not. Knowing the facts there is no doubt it’s a betrayal. We got screwed by everyone involved; Germans, British, French and Russians, but you paid dearly for your indecision or rather cautious stand early on in the war. Read about Abbeville conference, Saar offensive, Sitzkrieg and you will know what is subjective notion and what is fact.

News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

No sh!t! Really?

Once again you are lying. Warsaw uprising implies citywide uprising which in fact Jewish insurgency in Warsaw Ghetto was not, it was confined to the Jewish Ghetto within the city of Warsaw. There's a reason why historians named those events as they did. You name it like this so the ignorant westerners will think it’s the same event in History.

Nice to know that you consider we can't call the uprising which took place in the Warsaw ghetto a "Warsaw uprising" because it was Jews who decided it's better to face certain death with honour than almost certain death with cowardice.

The problem with twisting words around is that it changes the meaning of, same goes for the concentration camps calling them Polish, another Jewish lie. It is your intention to change the truth because of your Jewish bigotry toward Poles while portraying yourself as an innocent victim.

Was it my ancestors or yours who gave returning Polish Jews warm welcomes like the one they got in Kielce in 1947?

While you at it why don’t you remind everyone of the reception given to the returning Poles by your ancestors Jewish Communists, especially to the one’s returning from the western front or those fighting in Poland itself during Nazi occupation. The witch trials that the Communist Jews have organized against those that fought for your freedom but were Polish, and the Jewish NKWD members who were the executioners in Katyn forest and later on in Poland after the war who executed AK members. Nice reception wouldn’t you say?

You live in the city of Warsaw yet you don’t know anything about its history. You’re just someone with a chip on his shoulder who is either ignorant of facts, or deliberately twisting the truth. The amazing part is that you believe your own propaganda no matter how outrages it might be.

Let me return the favor and point out only the latest lie told by you. I don’t want to embarrass you too much.

Although we’d better not include the 1943 Warsaw uprising, you don’t consider those people Poles do you.

When you learn your history better maybe you will stop confusing events, just because something sounds alike does not mean it refers to the same event. Just to remind you so you can read about it.

Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
Warsaw Uprising

When you refresh your history you will see that 1943 event was called Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and it was Jewish insurgency.

Warsaw Uprising was in 1944 and was orchestrated by the Polish Home Army and it had nothing to do with “those people” as you put it.

The rest of this post I’ll take as your opinion so I’ll refrain from pointing out the obvious dishonesty, you just don’t know any better.

News / Poland Needs to Shape up [43]

2. Fire all Polish postal workers.

Latest news is that US Postal Service is in for massive layoffs. So be careful that’s the only country I know of that they do go Postal on you. Perhaps you should reconsider your decision.

History / Should we use original name of Berlin - "Kopanica" [103]

No I have already compromised. So my argument was that even Prussians in 1850 did not claim him to be German but in the inscription on the monument stated as from Toruń. Mind you that was at the time when Poland did not exist and they were not so bold to call him German.

Some sources state that his Father was from Cracow another fine German City. German was dominant language at that time in Toruń and the language of administration so for him to speak German was only logical wouldn’t you say.

Not curious at all, during his time there were two languages spoken in Toruń German and Polish. Many Poles speak Russian or at least studied the language including myself dose that make me Russian?

History / Should we use original name of Berlin - "Kopanica" [103]

You know Piorun, you Poles are very selective in what facts are important and
count and which not...so...stuff it!

Selective the cities did not exist before this time so it’s impossible for the Germens to Live there. Besides German influence in Wrocław did not materialize till after the Mongol hordes swept the region in 1200’s, and contrary to your belief original Prussians were not German. Copernicus studied in Italy for 10years so he probably spoke Italian, does that make him Italian?

And before there lived Germans for much longer!

Where? In those two cities. Here’s a little trivia in case you don’t know your history.

Gdańsk was founded by Mieszko I by building first fortified settlement there around 975. First mentioned in the book “Żywot Św. Wojciecha” (Life of St. Adalbert) and bearing the name “Gyddanyzc”.

Wrocław is situated at a crossroads in this part of Europe and who founded the settlement is unknown but it bears the name of a Czech prince Wratysław. City was first mentioned during the reign of Bolesław Chrobry in the year 1000 when Pope has named Wrocław as a seat for a bishop, who in turn was a subject to the archbishop of Gniezno.

Before Slavs came to settle there it was the home of the germanic tribe of the Semnoni before they packed their bags during the big migration period...

They moved to Florida to be known as Seminole Indians where they still failed to establish any cities. You can find this information under “Lost Tribes of Germany”. (But I'm sure you knew that already) :))

UK, Ireland / My friends upset at Brits.... [51]

Wasnt that a couple of years ago?

Yes and This was the headline.

The Queen's composer has ruffled feathers after police found the body of a swan at his home.
Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Master of the Queen's Music, was cautioned over the discovery of the remains of a protected species at his house in Orkney.

I asked the police if they would like to try some swan terrine but I think they were rather horrified

Sir Peter Maxwell Davies

So the Swan eating myth is not a myth after all, it seems that people do eat swans on some remote islands in Britain but they are British through and through.

Should I give out an award for the first one to bring me an anti-polish hate propaganda

Most powerful Nazi anti-Polish symbol. No explanation needed I hope.

"we bring Poland death." Painted on German Ju-52 transport-plane fuselage during the 1939 invasion of Poland.

Fatalnie = to feel awful (In this case anyway the one you described)
However it also could mean most unfortunate if you say something like “fatalnie się składa”

News / British war memorial in/near Trojmiasto? [19]

does anybody know of any of an British war memorials I the Trojmiasto area

Instead of war memorial how about visiting a simple grave for the fallen, who had been executed on the spot by Gestapo or SS. I don’t know how accurate this information is but there seem to be such grave near you, in the forest near the village of Gostomko. There lie the remains of British airmen who according to the locals eluded German capture and were hiding in a bale of hay for the night in the village of Ogonki. Unfortunately Germans were searching local villages at least once a month for the Gryf partisans or perhaps they were in the area because of the downed airmen, and this night they were searching the village of Ogonki. They were discovered by SS who surrounded the place. They were then taken to the nearby woods where their grave is at, they were interrogated and executed. Next day in the morning the locals uncovered the fresh grave in the woods to check if it’s someone they know from surrounding villages. The grave contained 3 bodies that were badly beaten and only had their underwear on but it was no one local. The news that they were British airmen they have learned from the Gryf partisans. After the war the locals erected a wooden cross and placed a grave stone making it a proper grave. According to the locals the bodies were never exhumed after the war.

After the war there were commissions that investigated those cases and exhumed the bodies of the fallen airmen. So the bodies might have been moved to another location, bodies of the British airmen in that area were moved to the war cemetery in Malbork and Yanks were taken back home to the U.S. Did they investigate every such case? I doubt it. In cases such as this I tend to believe locals much more then the local officials. Perhaps another interesting place to visit on such a day would be a prisoner of war camp for Allied airmen Stalag Luft IV in the vicinity of Tychowo but it’s a bit too far from Trojmiasto.

News / Poland has an old ambition to become a regional power [37]

to say something like that to a Serb

Easy there Crow, that’s not what I meant, besides what the author refers to as an “Old Ambition” he means it in a slightly different direction. What’s interesting to me in this article is the very fact that many foreign politicians out there perceive us as a potential threat (a regional player) and see us even stronger than we see ourselves. I would expect that kind of accusation coming from our eastern or western neighbors but I would dismiss it as just another rhetoric and never take it seriously, but southern? Interesting food for thought.

from Baltic to Balkan via Balaton?

LMAO tempting though.

Is that a proposition to run over those former commies that are nothing more than a mouthpiece for Russia and making outrages claims? He should stick to environmental issues he may be better suited for it NOT.
