Life / What should Poland and Poles do, after first day of nuclear war? [133]

Rubbish, Stalin would have our Home Army shot and murdered anyway

I don't believe this would have been possible for Stalin, if indeed the Polish army stayed in tact. Furthermore, if Poland was actually a reliable and useful ally, I don't think Stalin would want to trivialize this enitirely by wiping out the entire intelligentsia of the country, right away. Such a large purge... I see it highly unlikely that it would happen so efficiently in non-chaotic/war environment. It would be the blood of many Red Army soldiers.

Who knows if it would even come to blows with Germany? Such an alliance would have at least made Germany think twice, especially if France and England still held on their guarantees to Poland (however fruitless they were), that was unknown to Hitler.

Stalin was more interested in Ukraine and some portions of Eastern Poland, as well as a bulwark against the Nazi's. If Poland would given into such demands, but in turn, asked for support against Nazi Expansion... it's not out of this world..

We see that Stalin allied himself with fascists, liberal democracies, even republican govermnent in Spain was aided by Soviets because it was preferred to the communists over fascism. He was not nearly as concerned with whom he allied himself with, as long as it met some goal.

The important people would still die, Stalin had very specific views on Inteligentsia, the economy would still get broken, the country would still lose its sovereignty and we would still not be able to partake in Marshalls plan and have to build huge heavy industry which was expensive and pointless.

Like I said, there would have been less destruction overall. I am looking at this in pure practical sense. Numbers wouldn't even be close.

Re-settlement? Any links for those numbers? I don't think he would show any more mercy, but he surely was not a moron.

history had to gain from siding with Russia?

Allying ourselves with the Soviets in the immediate pre-World War 2 environment would have been most favourable for Poles in the long run. It is positive that Poland would have suffered less, even if the Soviets decided to invade us anyway, to meet Nazi expansion (if it even came to that) Less deaths, and less destruction overall. Polish population would probably be 45+ million right now.

just think to myself...

My last words, after a quick prayer to my ancestors, and a shot of some good wodka... i dont know, probably something like 'Dobranoc Filip' lol...

Crow, any last song you'd like to listen to, when the time came?

But come to think of it, its such a horrible way to die.. without honour, without glory, just reduced to vapour in a split second.. all your human dignity...

in a perfect world, we could die like heroes, on horsback, charging an impregneable defense... romanticized view..
in reality, some of us even die on the toilet of heart failure.

Genealogy / strange Polish mixes [116]

lovely blue eyes, a square jaw, high cheek bones, dirty blonde hair...

Yes, typical characteristics for Russian population in Siberia.
He is probably quite fair skinned too.

I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality that I can judge whether a guy is good looking or not, and Slavic males have good genetics.

I'm half Greek myself, but I take after my dad who is Polish, more than my mom, and I'm happy for that. I inherited his green eyes, high cheekbones and brown hair, and my moms darker complexion.

50% Russian

Slavic genes are very nice.
If you had girls, they would probably grow up to be very attractive.

Love / Could "food" potentially come between us? [25]

he becomes red as hell but he
LOVES it!

Yes. Especially if you force him to change to your diet (if you get married), you'll be ensuring that the poor fellow dies a young man...

Love / SOS!! I feel a little hopeless with my Polish husband... [58]

Maybe he is addicted to porn?

Or, he might be having an online relationship with another woman. It is worth looking into. That might explain why he is getting so defensive whenever you approach him at the computer.

When he is gone at work, or gone drinking, go on his computer, and check the history. See what he's up to... it might save you some grief.

I know a girl who had to get a divorce because her husband was addicted to porn, and couldn't for the life of him, get away from it.

They had problems with Prussian expansionism

Partly true. Danish court was also quite influenced by Poland at the time, with some of the court even being part-Polish etc. The two countries had some ties from anti-Swedish alliance decades earlier. It was more a symbolic gesture of solidarity, rather than anything really concrete.

Love / Are you in a Polish-nonPolish relationship? [150]

Although I am a bit nervous about goin

You might get a few stares, which some might find rude, but if I were you, just ignore it. Most of those people have seen very few people of color. It's not racism, more like curiousity. It would be the same as if a Polish man flew into some African village and got a few stares from the local people. He might feel a bit strange at first, but it will wear off.

Have fun in Poland!

News / Donald Tusk - the worst PM of 3rd RP. [79]

All very good points.

Gumishu, I suggest you just quit while you have a shred of respect left. You are making us Poles look like fools.
