USA, Canada / Renewing Polish Passport in US [30]

actually there is only one polish embassy in the USA and that's in DC. all the others are consulates. here is the one in Chicago: chicago.msz.gov.pl/en/

good luck with contacting them. i never ever got any kind of an answer until i actually went there.

now, almost all the forms are on their site but eventually you will have to make a trip in person one the one closest to you. they are anal about the picture so have a pro who is very familiar with polish/eu rules because they rejected my first set.

Travel / Polish rutted roads [9]

The A4 for the most part is a EU standard motorway, rock solid and un rutted but as soon as you pass the toll East on the way to Krakow it all goes to shite. Did somebody not lay the motorway foundations properly or what?

just showing off the quality of our work to euro2012. lol

I guess part of the problem is caused by overloaded TIR's on a soft surface.

american lorries are most likely heavier and no such issues here and our roads are 1/2 what the autobahn is.

News / Poland: the 51st state of America [119]

There is a push toward a national insurance in the USA, many people oppose, because they don't want the government to decide who gets the care and who does not (the young or the old). Besides, who wants to wait for a specialist for two or three months?

this is what i don't get.. who has ever said that one couldn't still get to a specialist or have some of these test done? socialized medicine in the states will never have lack of choices. i think having basic medical care socialized is totally the way to go.. any thing above and beyond that will have to be either supplementary insurance or just one's cost. nothing wrong with that.

it will have to be a two tier system to fly.

News / What American Foreign Polices towards Poland would you Change? [11]

usa ought to treat PL like a partner and not just to be used for usa's pleasure or posturing. usa needs friends and thus far PL has stuck by usa.

maybe a more pertinent question is what Polish policies toward the US would you change?

i think, for now, PL ought to make it harder for americans to obtain a visa to PL.

UK, Ireland / Poles and Poles in the UK = animosity [42]

the local "boys" are the big league,

you may not want to underestimate these dudes that much.

My wife was advised NOT to work for other Poles when she came to england three years ago, because they tend to rip off their fellow countrymen.

yuppers.

USA, Canada / How to get american papers after visa expired ???!!! [55]

not a waste of time and money but you two obviously have been talking to the wrong lawyers. they right ones can make a world of difference.

as to the expried visa, you're kid of screwed as you are illegal now and you showing up may warrant a detention and deportation.

Life / Why can't Poland recruit Polish soccer stars? [42]

agreed on the complaining.

actually, there are very few foreign athletes that compete for USA in the olympics and the like. now, in the major leagues in almost all sports there sure is a fair share of non americans but USA likes to be represented by its citizens not someone who may play well but be from somewhere else.

Life / Why can't Poland recruit Polish soccer stars? [42]

And how many medals (Olympic or World championship) did the USA lose because of doping?
Do I have to make a list of all those athlets? It would be quite loooong.

i surely agree.

* correct answer: Poland

hell yeah. :)

Yeah, Brazil sucks at futbol.

not a 3rd world country

What cheating? Roger joined fair and square. I approve of Poland fielding the best possible side, if that means foriegn players, that's the way it must be.

hmmm.. doesn't seem to fit together in that sentence.
