I heard him speaking on a polish radio station and he pronounces "r' in a funny way...did he grow up around the eastern border in Poland?

I heard only much, much older people saying 'r' this way...the ones who were moved from the Russian territories to the western Poland after the war. My two brothers in-laws spoke that way...well, just curious...I don't know him and i don't really know what he stands for...

A very good observation £ukasz. It's time to get sausage, vodka and bigos (great things nonetheless) out of western minds. It may take however another generation to do that. Poland is such a new kid on the block and the government is not helping. Promotions and good, positive advertisement could do wonders. Unfortunately, it is the opposite in the media. I'm Polish and I was never made fun of. Quite to the contrary. Stop feeling sorry for yourself Amirah. And, where the heck did you go to school being the only white kid? Every time I drive by a school playground, I see variety of kids. Even in some "posh" neighborhoods.
