Life / A lot of "How safe is Poland" threads? [15]

MY employer does the same :/ not half assed like yours though. Krakow is fairly safe in my opinion, but like anywhere late at night you may run into some loudmouths.

I won't merge it on you. We can wait for other replies.

Travel / Driving from Poznan to Croatia. Best way? [23]

Thanks Shelley!! I appreciate the tips.

I heard dubrovnik is a popular destination for Poles. If any others have been, what do you say about Montenegro or Bosnia?

but it's not really touristy

As a tourist, I hate tourists....especially those cruiseship tourists :)

I'm hearing that extra insurance has to be purchased to travel there (with PL vehicle) and there a quite a few tolls to pay through CZ. Also, the route through Slovenia I hear is treacherous. Has anyone driven through here?

I'm off to PL in 3.5 hrs. See you all in a couple of weeks !!

I hope everyone behaves ;)

Travel / Driving from Poznan to Croatia. Best way? [23]

We're thinking Dubrovnik because at this point it looks most beautiful, but we're still looking. We'd like to drive because flying is always a hassle and we like road trips :) We can stop anywhere we want....besides, I'll be flying for 10 hrs the day before so the last place I'll want to be is on another flight :)

I'm thinking we're going to tour the coastline. I think this will be best being that Dubrovnik isn't too big.

Anyone know anything about the nightlife? I hear there is none....

Travel / Driving from Poznan to Croatia. Best way? [23]

Well, we were supposed to take a trip to the Baltic coast at the end of August, but we're now talking about scratching that and heading to Croatia. We've never been there and supposedly the weather in Chłopy where we were going to stay isn't going to be that warm. We'll see.

you must be getting excited!!!! Enjoy!

You have no idea ;)

Travel / Driving from Poznan to Croatia. Best way? [23]

Has anyone ever driven from PL to Croatia? I think I'm looking at a 20+ hr drive. I've looked at a few direction sites and it's making me travel through Germany and requiring me to ferry from Bari Italy, but ther should be a route through CZ/ Austria. Also, any tips for travelling there? Anyone been? Shellster...you've been right?

Thanks everyone !!

Poland bound less than a week!!!

Life / Will western traditions eventually impact Polish tradition? [13]

I've noticed that some of the younger people in Poland are celebrating holidays like Halloween and Valentines day. Do you think with time more of the meaningful traditions will eventually be overlooked?

News / Should Poland send volunteers to Georgia ? [100]

so called western media

WHat else would you call western media ?

I haven't seen much about Tblis (except for the 1st day of conflict), but more of the humanitarian issue. Not sure which news you're reading/watching.

I don't think volunteers with weapons are needed, but I think medical aid is certainly needed and not just from Poland.

USA, Canada / DO AMERICANS/CANADIANS TRAVEL TO POLAND???? [57]

Ukpolska- you're a dummy. You never once acually stated that you were an ethnic Brit. I merely thought you were an expat Pole living in the UK. I suggest you read your posts a little more carefully

Well, we can all do without calling each other dummy...but, he is in Poland ;) The name says it all.

To the topic, I know many Americans that travel to Poland , but mostly because of family or GF. It's true there aren't many adverts for PL, but sometimes they do have European travel destinations and I've seen Poland on there a few times. We have a travel agency here thats famous for trips to Itally called Perillo tours or sth and this brings a lot of tourism beacuse they set up different travel packages. I think that we need one for Poland that offers the same type of package offering destinations all over and not just the popular cities. MAybe I'll have to start one :)

News / Poland to open its first-ever baby store selling human babies [21]

Being a surrogate mother in the US has been going on for years. Not everyone can have a child. Yeah, it says Baby store and you pay for the baby, but what you're really paying for is the Surrogate's medical bills, time off from work and other expenses. I think in the US you can get up to $50,000 for sth like this.

Life / What does a Ipod cost in Poland? [22]

Just go to media markt in Poznan and buy a different MP3....does it have to be iPod? Also, when you're there try craigslist.pl
