Life / Whats driving like in Poland? [70]

Poland consistently has either the top or second from top highest road fatality rate in the EU.

That's what happens when you line the roads with trees :) But I still think you're exadurating.

but you'd be hard pressed to find a developed country with worse drivers

Italy has awful drivers and USA has some of the worst. I hear Spain and France are also pretty bad. I can vouch for USA living in New York :) Horrible

True in many cases. I do agree, but I still think that PL isn't bad in comparison to some other places around the world.

I've just spent the last 2 weeks driving in Poland and most of you are exadurating.

they can buy new fast and expensive high performance cars on credit and it seems to be going to their heads a bit

It's called young kids. Everywhere there are young people you'll see showing off and bad driving.

I wouldn't avoid the country, but as anywhere else drive defensively

You dont see many Americans on this board because most of them couldnt even point to Poland on a map and generally have no interest in Poland

I agreee to a point. Some of our less educated folks aren't good with geography, but I can't imagine it being different anywhere when it comes to education. It's better than seeing these arrogant Brits that come in here just to slag PL ppl off because they were let down by a PL woman or can't compete for work. The Americans that do come in here are more interested in learning things and not complaining....and of course there's always the few nimrods :)

Travel / Britt In Poznan [28]

So you get alot of foreigners in poznan

Yes, there are more and more. There's a medical university in Poz.

There's Biskupin about 2 hrs away. This was once a Pagan settlement that has been rebuilt and is worth a visit.
Stary rynek of course
Kornik Castle
Raczynski Palace in Rogalin
Gniezno
Poznan Cathedral
Citadel (Army museum)
Lech Brewery
Paris church (Stary Rynek) I'm not one for religion, but this place is absolutely breathtaking.

These are just a few things you can do. You'll find stuff while you're there to keep you busy.
Let me know if you need help with anything else.

Life / "I can spot a Pole a mile away" - Polish fashion? [146]

I've noticed that the Mullet has become fashion again. Seems to be popular in PL...a sloppy one with short hair on top. I hear this came from British fashion. True? Why??????

Also, kids are shaving lines in the sides oif their heads. 80's coming back :) ??

Travel / Britt In Poznan [28]

Go to Dom Vikingrow in the main square

I don't like this place. People here seem old and it's too relaxed.

Blue note is ok, but it's usually hip hop.SQ is mostly House and Chill out.

Lizzard King is a nice atmosphere. Plays mostly rock, but not a club.

A popular foreign place is Dragon bar. I really like the atmosphere. It's pretty chill in the basement.

There's Tuba if you like the tanned look and huge muscle heads dancing on the bar shirtless.

Alcatraz is mostly hip hop, but an ok place.

Valhalla is rock/gothic

Morphine is worth checking out for live music

Maybe you can take her for Italian food (sth different ) There's a nice place called Figaro or a Greek place called Mykonos which has pretty good food.

Food / Polish Spirytus Recipes [14]

For the holidays:

Ajerkoniak

1/2(strong) or less bottle of spiritus
1 vanilla stick
glass of sugar
5 yolks
2 glasses of milk.
You have to put a crushed vanilla stick to alcohol first and leave for two days, then grind yelks with
sugar add boiled (but cold) milk then slowly add alcohol, you have to beat whole mixture while doing it
otherwise bad things will happen, then bottle that mixture and leave in dark place for few hours.

Feedback / "Shame the rip off companies in Poland" - new forum section suggestion [35]

Ha ha. Yes. I bet if you called corporate and complained, they'd give you a free dinner :) No kidding. I've learned that most food companies will try to make you a happy customer by sending you a free meal if you're unsatisfied. Are you in the states now?

Also I have never heard of an ISP that does not allow you to upgrade so they can make more money out of you

Sure, just like if you want to upgrade a phone with a wireless carrier. To get the discount you need a new contract.

If they can upgrade you and keep you longer? That's a good deal for them.

fantastic service here in the US

Funny guy today Bwoo ;)

When you accept a user agreement for lets say a downloadable virus program do you actually read the 30 pages of terms and conditions?

It may seem rediculous, but you should. Anything can be written within.

No can do!! I have to see the contract out for the whole three years cannot upgrade downgrade or cancel. i said look I,ll pay the extra just give me an upgrade... Sorry its not possible. Bottom line, for a faster connection I nee to start a new contract with another in line or stick with what i have. How stupid is that?

It's also pretty sutpid not to read or understand a contract that YOU signed. I don't see this as the companies fault just someone who lacks experience with legal agreements.
