It's official web page, unfortunately in Polish only, if I find anything in English, I'll post it for you!

As far as I remember, Suwalki is considered the coldest town overall in Poland (also in summer). Not to mention winter.

I guess you will get bored after weekend in Suwałki, not mention 3 weeks. But as it is quite a rural part of Poland you can make many trips from there to Puszcza Białowieska for example, or go canoeing on Czarna Hańcza. By the way Suwalszczyzna region is most beautifull early autumn. And it is true, that Suwałki is one of the coldest town in Poland :)

Have a fun trip!

My partner is from Suwalki and I have been there twice - the nearest airport is actually Vilnius in Lithuania - or alternatively Warsaw. Either way the train connection to there from the airport takes quite a while! Last time we flew to Warsaw and there is a bus connection from a private company that is about 35zl one way, but the name of it escapes me - it goes from the central train station in Warsaw to the bus station in Suwalki and takes 5 hours.

I didn't like Suwalki much, it is very communist style still and there is not much to do, unless you enjoy nature - some of the lakes and forests in the area are amazing.

In the centre there are 3 places that i can think of that do nice food:
Bar Polski - great home cooked food at extremly reasonable prices
Einstein - not bad prices, nice food - but trying a bit hard to be 'modern'- trying to make the food look 'fancy' rather than concentrating on traditional Polish food.

Another bar on the main street - name begins with 'S' - inside it is all painted with pictures of old town buildings and a night sky effect on the ceiling - also nice for a drink with friends.

We spent some time at Lake Wigry and went canoeing (my boyfriend is very experienced on the water being from this area he has grown up on the water) - it was really nice, but this was in the warmer months.

What else do you want to know?

I said to my boyfriend last time we were there "I have a 100zl a day budget" and he said that that was enough - or even too much, but the prices are going up in poland...

That bar on the main street - i think i remembered its name - nastarowsta - or something like that... doh!

Have fun!

I can walk, but i'm a girly girl, I'm sure i'll take some taxi ...i'll drink some orange juice LOL ps. I get really drunk with 3 polish beers :D

SO, It'd have three good meals.. per day. nothing fancy or 5 stars. 3 stars would be okay (: ++ did you mean "souvenir"?? if so, yes!!

I was searching more today.. at
Dom Nauczyciela Hotel
120 Tadeusz Kosciuszko Street
16-400 Suwalki, Poland

Each night from Mon-Thru =176.00 and Fri-Sun =141.00 (PLN)
Total 1,550.00(PLN) VAT (7%) Included

but when I go here>> Dom Nauczyciela - Suwalki

everything is cheaper!! :O :o :O lol(maybe because they calc. in USD :/) and they say *price with breakfast* does this mean i will only eat breakfast every 24 hours?

you mean - breakfast, lunch and dinner? Most places don't do this... you will have to eat in a cafe or bar or takeaway or get some food from the supermarket for 2 of your meals for the day. When we visited the lakes near Suwalki we got bread, cheese, meat, tomatoes etc and stuck it in our backpack so we could eat by the lake hen we wanted - it was lovely!

Suwalki ;)

if you are looking for parties and big city entertainment it is wrong place.

If you are looking for contact with nature It is one of the best places to go in Poland. Big advantage of this place ist fact that it isn't well known and it is rather calm (if you like it) some photos form places close form Suwalki.

rospuda.e-mazury.com.pl/2.jpg

north east Poland it is region where 3 religions live together for centuries.

Catholics

Church in Poland

Orthodox

Podlasie Poland

Muslims

muslim church Poland

and you will find many minorities like Lithuaninans Belarussians Tatars.

I have noticed that you are Techno music fan so I don't think it is good place for this kind of entertainment but this region has a lot ot offer especially in summer;)

I've only been to Warsaw and £omża (with half a day in BiaÅ‚ystok thrown in). I had been thinking about going to the south next time, but those pictures are tempting me to check out more of the northeast first.
