UK, Ireland / Looking for a Polish psychologist in England. [11]

Register with G.P, get referral to specialist, local Mental Health Services will run regular courses. You would be lucky to get a fluent speaking therapist though. Hows his English?

Good luck.

Life / 800 thousand Polish women are victims of domestic abuse yearly [180]

No, English Law is from the Anglo-American system and Scotland from the Romano-Germanic, quite distinct backgrounds really.

Thanks, thats what I thought - saves me from reading the rest of the article - if a piece is faulty in the first sentence then the rest aint gong to be much better.

I was told by the prof at uni if that counts for anything,

Question everything !!

SEANUS - get in here.

Is there such a thing as British Common Law that Harry's link refers to ?

Henry Ansgar Kelly has recently written a comprehensive and convincing rebuttal of the claim that the phrase rule of thumb derives from "British Common Law

You've been fed this feminist bullcrap and its been repeated so often that people accept it.

Yep, hands up to that Zimmy. That post didn't contribute much to the thread and could have been misleading.

It is interesting that your link is related to a Divorce site. I believe that when it comes to divorce and particularly children, there is a bias towards the female.

( Not trying to be inflammatory - just an opinion )

Some of the figures I have read -
12% of all domestic abuse victims are male
5% of male abuse cases are of the same gender.

That was in the earlier link I posted.

I do think the title of this thread should have a question mark after it as the true figure of all domestic abuse is unknown.

It could be lower or it could be under reported for obvious reasons.

History / Stalag luft III - Zagan [6]

Yesterday was the 65th anniversary of the events that the film "The Great Escape" was based on.

It was film night in Stalag Luft III and the dwindling band of surviving PoWs was marking the 65th anniversary of the daring breakout by watching The Great Escape. Even though this is Hollywood's celebration of their story and ensured their enduring fame, it wasn't the Nazis they booed - it was Steve McQueen and his motorbike.

Figures put male domestic abuse in Scotland at around 12% Figures and you are right - they are under represented.

Work / Stockbroking in Poland [6]

Also does anyone know any stockbrokers in poland and in what cities are they situated??

Warsaw seems to be pretty much it - the Exchange is quite small ( 366 companies ).

Have you thought about working in the banks, retail investments?
Knowlege of the language is essential.

Travel / canoeing/kayaking in Poland [13]

Kowalski

Thanks for the links.

Kayak the length of the Danube

Thats a paddle !

I have an open Canadian canoe ( about 5.5m ) which is fine for the big rivers and camping trips. I'm thinking of getting a smaller Kayak for the summer for the smaller rivers round here.

Travel / canoeing/kayaking in Poland [13]

Thought I'd bump this thread to see if there are any paddlers out there.

I'm just back from going down a local river ( Highlands of Scotland ), lots of water at this time of year, a lot faster than in the summer and a bit more exciting.

More hazards with hidden rocks and fallen trees. I capsized - the water was warmer than I thought it would be, maybe due to the shock !

Anybody in Poland paddling at this time of year ?
Do the rivers spate as they do here at this time of year ?
