Question about UK Government Reach! Polish citizen vs HMRC

If a Polish citizen needs to pay back money to the HMRC in the UK due to overpayment of benefits, are the HMRC or Government in general allowed to find out if the citizen has assets i.e.property in Poland?

Thanks in advance.

I should also mention that the citizen now lives back in Poland.

When the UK was in the EU, I'd assume they could've easily accessed an EU citizen's assets. Today, it's probably not the case unless there's a special / international warrant justifying that.

There are agreements between countries. The Polish "Urząd Skarbowy" and the British "His Majesty's Revenue Commission" both share information.
