Oxford Polish bride 'heartbroken' over arrest - accusations of sham marriage

but why to lower urself to their level, thats what i m asking. It is good and respectable that you defend England and british people, i do it myself wheenever someone says something bad and make generalizations but we are humans after all, just coz someone does something it doesnt mean we are justified in doing the same. And after all not all people are the same. Why to have the same attitude as the people whom u despise?

Human nature, I suppose. Or, giving as good as you get. I'm one of the politest, most respectful people you can imagine... unless you cross me ;) It's sad that it's my own people (Poles) who have abused me more than any other group of people. And people on here wonder why some people say Poland is "50 years behind the West". East/South-East Asians are the ONLY group of people I have never had any hassle from whatsoever, I'm sorry to say. It doesn't make me hate all the others, but maybe I have good reason to be more critical of Poles??

Do they? maybe those people who think that cant think on their own, same as you.
I am a polish girl living abroad and i dont know even one girl who would go with a guy coz he is dark skinned.

I keep telling people this but no-one believes me :)

I've had two Polish girlfriends who made the BNP look like yoghurt-knitting liberal-lefties, and I've only ever met one Polish woman who admitted to liking non-whites (or indeed non-Poles).

However, I'm sure there are plenty more - there are definitely some white English women who say "I only date blacks or <insert ethnicity here>" so why would Polish women be any exception?

I am sure you had at least one black boyfriend.

I wouldnt be surprised if new laws are intruduced making it even more difficult for certain nationals to marry in the UK..which is a shame for those who are actually genuine.

It already exists, and is already keeping the wrong couples apart:

They generally say "innit" a lot too..nuff said :D

I dont know what to answer for that LOL i use commas coz errr they are useful? coz it is easier to read when long sentences are partioned with commas? I dont know if it is correct in English or not, in Polish we use commas quite a lot (same as other punctuation marks) and i use them without realising it really.

Commas are indeed useful little things and yes we use them quite often in England too ;0)

Tbh i dont care if it looks cool or not :) i like punctuation marks and i will keep using them :P

Whats wrong with writing standard English, isn't this the goal of a none native who is learning? I'll tell you now, I'd much rather read your posts then someone who butchers English "I won dat a niiic Pols gril" which is what we often come across here on this forum.

I'm one of the politest, most respectful people you can imagine... unless you cross me ;)

We'll mark you out of 10 when we do the meet up lol :D Im going to have some score cards made up ;0)

I mean something more stringent - because what we have atm doesn't seem to be working :( Maybe the priest got to nob all the EE girls before he agreed (bad taste I know, but I couldn't resist)

Everybody calm down. So the gal made a mistake. Maybe she desperately needed some money for rent?

I dont think we will get something what would work in 100% cases - there always will be people who will want to earn money the easiest way. Maybe some education would help? those girls, it seems, are not realising what they are getting into.

So the next time some immigrant with a new green card marries a mexican for cash you can say, oh well she must have needed to pay her rent..Pllllleeeaze! England is tiny and we have immigration rules for a reason, these skanks were breaking the law, nothing more. By the way if you cant make the rent..go home.

I have nothing against Mexicans living in the US. Hell, they are our closest neighbors, are they not? What I and other Americans take issue with is them coming over here and bankrupting the fock out of things. Stop making it possible for them to do that. Make them put in more than they take out, but don't ban them from coming here.

haha the lads will have to do something similar LOL

Considering that terrorist laws can be used against people who over-fill their dustbins, I'm sure the legal profession could find a way round it - unfortunately, I don't think the will is there, when it comes to immigration at least.

I think that Scottish priest who killed that Polish girl a while back was "getting some", so you may even be right!

those girls, it seems, are not realising what they are getting into.

They know full well that they are doing something that isn't legal, so therefore they know they are breaking the law, so Im not falling for the poor naive Polish girl line...It's easy money and it's appealing to them. You wouldn't do it, would you? I know I wouldn't.

On politeness of course! We may mark you on your fashion sense, you are Polish, so I reckon nul point :D

The terrorist laws are a joke, the last lot claimed they'd be persecuted in Pakistan if we sent them back, so we let them stay! WTF!!

The law you are talking about was brought in to stop forced marriages - they assume that if someone is 21 they are old enough to say no to an arranged marriage to their uncle in Pakistan.

You can always try being a male order bride :)

No, you cant put a price on a day that is treasured forever..

Yeah, but to them it's fake. They rationalize it by saying it isn't true love, so it doesn't count. The woman gets what she wants; which is money. The guy gets entry into whatever country he's trying to get into. As long as he isn't gaining entry just to milk the system or blow things up, I don't see a problem.

Let them come in and pay taxes. What does that hurt? When he is safely in, they conveniently divorce and go their seperate ways so they may both find their true love somewhere else.

They know it's illegal but what it seems they dont know is what effects the "marriage" itself will have on their lives (apart from the whole thing being illegal, how can u tie urself down with a person u dont even know? those are legal ties etc) And i was not playing the "poor naive Polish girl" card. I meant it as for any girl from any nation who does such thing. I think they are poor in their stupidity. They will pay their price for being thoughtless, even if they dont realise it at the moment.

Yeah, but to them it's fake. They rationalize it by saying it isn't true love, so it doesn't count.

Then you have a very shallow view of the sanctity of marriage and a very worrying view of the abuse of law and immigration.

I live on a small Island, its more complicated, we are at breaking point and dont need people who dont have the right to be here - water shortages, infrastructuer at breaking point..I could go on but I know you can "rationalise" it in your own mind so there is no point.

They know it's illegal but what it seems they dont know is what effects the "marriage" itself will have on their lives (apart from the whole thing being illegal, how can u tie urself down with a person u dont even know? those are legal ties etc) And i was not playing the "poor naive Polish girl" card.

I personally, honestly dont think they care, I think that money is a motivator and after a quick divorce they will move on..Maybe do it again because the money was so easy...Its about knowing what is right and what is wrong and having morals..A person with morals wouldn't do such a thing, a greedy thoughtless person would..This is what makes us different to them. This is the difference between a thief and a person that works for a living, even if that person doesnt earn a lot of money, they have that self-respect and pride, some people just dont have this, because they found an easy way to make money at the price of others misery, these marriages are exactly the same.

There was one guy who sold his sister to sham marriage but she was mentally challenged. I think they were English. So it happens with Brits as well, less cases though.

Yeah, I remember that, thats why I was careful to say that anyone who does this is disgusting (I think my term was skank), but these instances are far and few between which is a good thing, this priest has married off nearly 400 to EE citizens - which really doesnt show these countries in a good light, I know people from Poland, Czech, Slovakia and Hungary, so I know very good decent people exist, but not all English people have these connections with these countries so it just magnifies the stereotypes that EE citzens are "bad" which is a shame.

But they use technology and taller apartment highrises to overcome that. Your country, like all other capitalist based ecomonies, would love nothing more than a huge boom that would generate unprecidented revenues, and for that you have to import people. These people create appetite which industry and govt fills...at a price, of course!

I admit I don't really give two figs about marriage. It's silly and outdated, since fifty percent of marriages end in divorce and people remarry.

The People discovered the shocking extent of the racket, which is thriving after a Home Office crackdown on marriages of convenience in Britain.

WANNABE BRIDE No 1: Nanny Katarzyna Machnio, 22, was ready to go through with a sham ceremony without even telling her builder boyfriend. "He'd kill me if he found out," she joked.

I guess when the Anglo finds out he becomes worse than the Stalinist.

You're right. I can imagine it is never the same after the wedding day. I'm sure the memories would be fond.
