hello. I am a Polish national that has been living in the UK continuously for over 45 years. I would like to apply for a british passport but need clarity on what is required? I am 69 years old, currently retired having worked and paid uk taxes for 40 years.

This might be useful to you.

It's from the C.A.B. which is funded by local councils and is considered authoritative.

You have a right to UK citizenship, which you will need to get before you are entitled to a passport.
Once you have your UK citizenship, you can apply for a passport.

Technically, he doesn't. He still has to apply for it and it may not be granted. Luckily, he wont have to take exams, as people over 65 yo don't have to take them.

However, if one asks me, living somewhere for almost a half century and nof having citizenship of that country is...weird

Technically, he doesn't.

My understanding is that he does, under the terms of the divorce agreement between the UK and the EU.

It is highly likely that he would qualify for settled status, living continuously in the UK for 45 years.
google it.
