Dekoder problems in UK? Cyfrowy Polsat.

Anybody in UK or even Poland, the US or wherever, having problems with their satellite box [Cyfrowy Polsat to be precise]? Ours has just stopped working for absolutely no reason. The box works [the power] but the TV is not recognizing it and saying there is no signal and no device, but it worked fine in the morning. Everything is hooked up fine, the cables are fine too. Is it possible that the bad weather in Poland could be causing this [the weather here is ok]?

There is always some signal osd, menu, insert card prompt etc present when power is up. Try another connection HF coaxial cable, composite or HDMI.

It won't make a difference. The problem is we have a flat screen TV pinned to the wall. It is really difficult to put anything in to the back. The guy put in a HDMI cable and a scart cable, the scart was used for the DVD player and the HDMI for the Polish box. Now suddenly the TV is not recognizing the box. We thought it might be due to the HDMI cable having a problem so we put the scart cable in to the Polish box and it didn't work [though it does work when it is in the DVD player]. I have not clue what is going on. It is unlikely anyone on the internet is going to solve the problem I know, but I am fed up with these Polsat people, we keep on having issues with them over and over. It's annoying to have to call them so much when you are paying for the service.

It won't make a difference.

switch everything off and leave for five minutes... then switch back on again.... the system should reboot.

It actually worked. I honestly didn't think it would. Thank you Wroclaw. To think of all the stuff that I tried, and just turning it off for a few minutes did the trick. I turned it off for a few seconds before and it did nothing, but it seems it needs more time to re boot? Interesting.

It seems it overheats or hangs or internal power supply is dying.

Spoke to soon. It worked for some time, then the same again. I'll unplug everything over night, see it is better tomorrow [I shouldn't really be watching TV today anyway].

No signal means mostly no signal - so first check connections and receiver setup. But if you have doubts about your card then just switch it with the working one.

Have this Polsat box for nearly 6 yrs now. All of a sudden when I try to press any button on the remote control the red light on the decoder will start flashing non stop. Can't change the channels by typing the channel number. Anyone experienced this before? It's not the remote as it is working perfectly with the second box in the bedroom.

The steps you may try:
- unplug the box for about 5 minutes and plug it again,
- press the power button for even as long as 60 second,
- press the power button for about 20 seconds, but without charger connected, then still pressing this button, plug again the charger in,
- try to power on without antenna cable attached,
- try connect the box to another TV,
- take out the decoder card and clean it gently with alcohol,
- replace the charger,
- bring the box to an electrical service
