I would like to get an idea of where Poles like to travel. Both to cities or regions inside Poland, and around the worlds. Tell where you have been, why you went, and what you thought about it.

what about it makes it that way?

My favorite place I have traveled is Algerho Italy. On the island of Sardinia. Food was the best I have ever had. Roast suckling pig, pasta, cheese, just amazing. I have never seen water so blue either...well besides the Caribbean. Definitely need to go back there.

Merged: New 7 Wonders-contest. The worlds best cities (7 from Poland)

Warsaw, Krakow, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Bydgoszcz, Katowice, Lublin, Poznań, Szczecin, Toruń and Zamość have entered the race for New7Wonders Cities contest.

I don't know how by any stretch of the imagination wroclaw thinks it should make it even to the next round.

I would say it's a far sight better than Katowice. Plus Warsaw shouldn't really be in the running as it a recreation...

Bydgoszcz or Barcelona........yea Bydgoszcz wins hands down.
Toruń or Turino.......yea, Polish one is the winner, absolutely.
Krakow is alright, but it's no Prague.
Katowice! Wow.

Gdansk and Poznan are both nice, Gdansk is a ghost town at night though. Isn't Torun only famous coz of some nutty religious guy?

What a joke.

most of the cities shouldn't even compete.
i like Krakow much more than Prague... it's more authentic.
only a total ignorant could say Torun is famous for Rydzyk only. it has a beautiful medieval town centre and it's a UNESCO site.

Where do Poles go on vacation?

In the summer, winter and in general? What part of the population prefers Sopot and Zakopane and who go abroad?
What are the most visisted destinations in Poland and abroad by Poles?

Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria? I know Ukraine has some nice unspoilt beaches with some of the cleanest waters in the Black Sea but it isn't very popular with EU tourists.

And for cultural tourism, do Poles visit Czechia, Germany, Slovakia and Hungary? Paris? Or do they prefer more exotic destinations like Rome, Venice, Plovdiv, Dubrovnik etc? Do Poles venture in the Baltic states or Scandinavia or London or do they regard it just as places to work for better wages? Which are destinations that are not popular with Polish people?

did you prefer cyprus or malta?

Cyprus was nice enough, I have no idea of the nightlife though. If I had to choose one to go to right this minute... probably Malta (been more times know my way around better).

Also I don't remember lots of non-European migrants as you see all over the place in Malta - a number of hotel workers were from Central-Eastern Europe but hardly any Africans or Indians (this might have changed)

Question.... why is there a very large US embassy in Malta? most countries have an office somewhere (or just a consulate) I'm wondering if Malta is a way station for lots of migrants who are actually headed for the US... but I'm too lazy to research it...
