About cars, electric and combustion in Poland.

After the last thread about cars disappeared, it's time to take up the topic of cars again. This time it's time to talk about electric cars, which driving long distances is not as problem-free as it may seem. Of course, we will also talk about good old combustion engines. 🚙🚘

Let's start with diesel. I must admit that after the dieselgate scandal I gave up on new diesels, even though my last diesel engine was extremely good. Now I only drive petrol cars and modern engines can be economical. Are diesels still sold in the US?

Electric cars are a scam meant for the idiots who only see the cars but not what is before, during, and after. A throwaway, irreparable junk... just like LGBTs...

Once again you turn a normal thread into your morbid obsession with anal sex

Here in Europe Lexus are moving heavily into hybrid models but that will be news to you as they remain a fantasy out of your reach

your morbid obsession with anal sex

What??? I simply follow the practice of providing a good analogy to illustrate the main point.

Why would any Lexus be a fantasy to me?

Lexus has become expensive, and its angular appearance does not convince everyone.

I was glad that the MG brand was revived. I once had one that I liked very much. Unfortunately, today's MGs are no longer sports cars, but family SUVs.

Stellantis has problems and may have to sell or even close some of its brands. I hope Maserati survives. As far as I'm concerned, for example, if Opel disappeared from the market, no one would notice it. RAM also seems to be problematic, but this is a more American problem.

Sacrilege! Didn't know they're available in Poland though.

I once had a 1967 MGB Roadster with wire wheels. Loved that car but it wasn't very reliable. It had overdrive and no synchromesh on 1st gear.

What model?

I know that but this thread is about cars in Poland and MG is indeed sold there:

What model?

Mine was an MG Maestro 2.0 EFI, blue with red seat belts. One of the few in Germany, a real GTI killer. I liked him very much.

I remember, my dream car VW GTI back in the 90' in Poland. Today not as popular though.

I have to agree. We will find another way in time, maybe Hydrogen....

Those old British sports cars were great when they started...... bloody unreliable British engineering though..

Mine had an electronic car starter, it always started.

MG Maestro 2.0 EFI,

To be honest I only ever associated them with sports cars.

bloody unreliable British engineering though..

You've got that right. I had a Frogeye Sprite that was equally unreliable.

Another great car!But as you say, bloody unreliable...... :-(

Hey, you were a bit of a "Sporty" so and so in your youth!!!! LOL!!!!

That's true, but the MG Maestro was a sports version of the Austin Maestro. A roadster was out of the question, I already had a wife and kid. Moreover, with 9 sec/100 km it was better than any MGB except maybe the GT. Yes, for me it was a sports car, especially since I moved to it from a Fiat 126.

Stellantis is a large car company that also produces cars in Poland. Unfortunately, the company has to save money because the last financial results were not so good. The first decisions have been made, e.g. Citroen is suspending car sales in Australia. Recently it sold less than 100 cars there every six months, which was less than, for example, Ferrari sells on this market.

And I appreciated the Fiat 126. I have always found a parking space with it, even where no one else would dare to park.

Men drive Corvettes until they can't get in and out gracefully. Then they use their wives' SUVs.

Nice, but I don't know if it's the most beautiful. But how can I talk to you when I am on your list of "favorites"?

I assure you that any woman can get out of a Corvette with even more class than a man.

Not me. I've got two left feet.

Here is the best-looking car ever...Nothing comes even close..

It doesn't look anything special to me.

As far as American cars go I would pick either the Shelby Cobra 427 or Chevrolet Corvette C2.

British, I would pick Austin Healey 3000 Mark III or 6os/70s Lotus Elan DHC.

It's not bad, but nothing special, I preferred older American cars from the 50's, 60's and early 70's.

@Feniks
I'm with you........

But probably not for everyday driving.

I've got two left feet

This means that you can only drive a car with an automatic transmission.

VW on the brink of bankruptcy again.

At least they can't get away with closing factories they have abroad in order not to close them at home.

As various commentators have been pointing out recently, Germany is an analogue country in a digital world.

analogue country in a digital world.

There will be no new Golf. 😪

Let's talk about LED lighting in cars today. On the occasion of the collapse of the bridge in Dresden, the media describes the condition of the other bridges. And between the lines I read that on the newest bridge, which has been in use for a little over 10 years, out of 1,320 LED light strips, only 770 are currently functional. This is terrible because my current car has full LED lights. This means that if just one LED light in the front headlights fails, the car will probably not pass the technical inspection and I will have to buy a whole new headlight for thousands of Euros. And to think that in my old car, replacing a bulb in the front headlight once cost me the price of the bulb (<10€) which the kind seller replaced on the spot at no extra cost.

Some guy from Eastern Europe sent his friend in his Ferrari to Stuttgart for inspection. However, the inspection was not registered. The German police considered it as illegal import of a car and confiscated the car. He will get it back after paying 33,000€ in customs and tax.........🤔 He would go to Katowice for inspection, it would be cheaper.

33,000€

If he can afford a Ferrari, he can afford that.

Katowice

In the EU too, so presumably taxable. Probably less likely to enforce rules than Germany though. An unlucky guy.

The most unlucky car owner I've come across was in Warsaw. He bought a new performance car. It was delivered to the street outside his house and stolen that same night, before he'd taken out insurance. Expensive for him.
