Gdynia to Bournemouth/Southampton

Hi

My partner wants to travel here to the South coast from Gdynia, (Gdansk airport). She wants to carry a decent weight in luggage. She has travelled to Luton before, but doesn't want to travel "Budget", like Ryan air etc because of luggage restrictions and extra costs. Does anybody know of a good, alternative route or solution. She doesn't mind an easy-ish transfer in another Polish or European airport or two, or maybe bus/coach/train on the way.

We're just wondering if anyone has good,/regular experience of this journey and maybe has a better idea than us.
Many Thanks,

If you use KLM and are in the frequent flyer programme you get a luggage allowance unless they've recently changed it. I've gone with them Poland-Manchester vi Schiphol or CDG.

There are also some cheap deals occasionally from LOT. I had to travel at very short notice recently and the best deal was LOT to London City Airport via Vilnius.

Sometimes it's better though to pay the baggage allowance on Wizzair or whatever.

i second this notion. With Priority boarding and Flex option you get lots of luggage. Full Service Airlines like Lufthansa and BA are stingy with their baggage anyway on intra Europe flights.

I did it last week and it worked. And the young lad on check in at Leeds Bradford Airport got the details wrong and let me check my cabin bag in for free.

I was a bit worried about luggage since I had a big suitcase packed full with an air fryer, sausages and bacon, HP sauce, gravy granules, English cheese and a shed load of Yorkshire lamb.

Now how did you smuggle that in the EU from a non EU country???Esp in the US now its a crime that remains on your history and you can be removed or refused feom the Trusted Traveller or Global entry program.I know my friends wife was fined even for first offense and now has a criminal record.

LOL maybe the business class in that flight didnt have a middle seat lol

details wrong and let me check my cabin bag in for free.

I know all the dishonest people do that.I hope the airline sends you a bill with interest before the statute of limitations expire lol.

@ Amiga,Priority boarding is only good in business class as you can get snacks, drinks but sitting there in the back is a pain waiting for boarding to be completed.

MYOB.

I know my friends wife was fined even for first offense and now has a criminal record.

Poland don't generally fine you for bringing in food or a bit extra duty free. I often bring an extra bottle or so in and the only time I was checked the customs lady complemented me on my choice of booze and lt me bring the bottles through.

I know all the dishonest people do that.

Fortunately I'm not among them and asked him to check when he offered to check my bag in. He checked and incorrectly said it was included on the ticket and since he's an airline employee, why would I disagree? On Wizzair they sometimes do that, especially if there's not much hold luggage bing checked in and plenty of large cabin bags.

How's Shamrock Bar? That cheap brown leather jacket is beginning to look a bit scruffy BTW.

Priority boarding is only good in business class

Paying for Priority Boarding on Wizz gets you a free large carryon in addition to a small cabin bag. Plus priority bag drop.

So what. They don't care much about that having other priorities right now,

Anyway, the thread is about transport routes UK/PL and not your view on customs.

Now the drunk's passed out on a wet sofa, I've just had a look on Momondo, the site I usually use for planning air journeys.

I looked at GdaƄsk to Southampton (possibly cheaper if you use another UK airport) and there's an option on KLM with one piece of checked in luggage changing at Schiphol, return flight for 2100zl. It would be cheaper if she joined KLM's frequent flyer programme before booking since it gives the luggage free or at a discount. I generally check prices on that site then buy the ticket direct from the airline rather than through an intermediary..

Here's the site I use. Don't forget to check the box about luggage if you want an accurate price:

Thanks for the response everybody.

I agree,.... it is probably more simple to go "budget" Ryan Air, Wizz etc and pay for hold baggage.
However, it would mean landing at Luton and we'd like closer to The New Forest.

Thanks jon357, I coincidentally just discovered KLM to Southampton before seeing your post,..and now you've kindly confirmed it for me.
