Is the landlord allowed to charge unreasonable fees for such a small damage?

On a door in the flat I'm renting, I made a very small dent. It is so small and close to the floor that I never noticed it. It changed absolutely nothing to the functionality of the door.
The door is worth 1000 PLN new.
Without telling me of the charge, he had the door replaced and made me pay 2000 PLN for the door and labour. He sent me the receipt AFTER the door was replaced.
He never sent me a quote before, and just made me pay 2000 PLN for a damage so small it was barely noticeable.

Is he allowed to do that?
Is there a law that mentions that charges should be reasonable?
Or a law that specifies that he should give me a change to have it repaired myself, or at least show me how much I will be charged beforehand?

Yes, he is. He is allowed to charge you 1 million PLN.
But you are allowed to refuse that payment. Then the court will decide if you need to pay it. I hope you had taken the photo of the damage before the door was replaced.

Hmm, it doesn`t hold water. How could he replace the door without your consent?? It is illegal for the owner to enter the rented property, let alone with workers.

All in all, this door replacement case is a nice trolling act. I appreciate it. Thanks. :):):)
What`s next??? ):):)

He could offer him 2 toilet brushes for PLN 500,000 each as compensation.

I vaguely remember there was a cat involved, sold for a ridiculously huge sum of money.

The landlord can try to charge unreasonable fees, but if (according to him) the damage is worth more than a new replacement, ignore it. I mean, you can negotiate the price and it's even expected. Tell him "I'll pay you 500 zloty" and then see his reaction. He may counter to 1000 but then you can settle at 700 max. I'd personally start with 200 PLN to settle at 500 PLN.

I would start with demanding compensation for the illegal invasion of the rented property and doing repairs to the door without my consent. E.g, 3000 PLN would be enough for a start and then I can go down to 1500. If not, we shall meet in court.
