doubt that is in the US.

Why not. My Indian lady shoes really hate Iranian boots and that is in Germany. I have also 3 pair russian shoes, some of them pro Ukrainian and some contra and last but not least Afrikan shoes but they don't want to walk during ramadan. Crazy shoes world.

Do you notice shoes much?

It is impossible not to notice red shoes. But seriously, good shoes are important for the modern man as well as for the woman. Although I'm not a shoe fetishist.

in the US.

It seems that American products like your Levi's are sold abroad as luxury products which they really are not because in the USA you can buy them for next to nothing. The best example are the English Clarks shoes which I bought during my trips to England, while in Germany the same shoes cost 3 times more because they tried to locate themselves in the luxury segment.

Next to nothing ? Ha !
Yes you can buy the cheap thin as paper Signature series Levi's at Wal-mart for $30 but if you go to say Penny's big box store to buy the real thing that are three times the quality as the cheap ones that only last three months compared to years.

You will pay about $60 for the 500 series to $150 to $300 for the designers.
I know because I wear them every day.
The last pair I bought were about $90 that I wear every day and will last me at two years to three years..

Next to nothing

That's what Cargo suggested, apparently he buys Levi's for $ 20, which is impossible in Europe.

As I posted above, those are the cheap Signature Series Levi's that are light weight paper thin.
Don't waste your money on them.

They aren't bad looking, they just don't last but of course those lipstick smears don't wash out well so I understand buying new ones all the time. :-)

Let's go back to the shoes, it was during these holidays that I realized what is the basic difference between Polish and German women. Namely, that German women even go to work in their Birkenstock sandals and Polish women even go to the beach in high-heeled shoes. 🤔👡

I like my Creps the best year around.
Wear them out in the snow quite often.
They are very comfortable and they give your feet tremendous support.
The only problem with them is they don't last for more than six months or a year.
Most are made in China or Vietnam.

Alien, 2 years since you started the thread, it is high time I contribute. to it. I never buy shoes in shoe shop/boutiques , only in big shopping centres. They must be comfortable and cheap. After time it shows if they are also durable. If they fulfill all three conditions I mentioned, I go back to that centre and try to buy more pairs of the same line if they are still available. This saves me time coz wearing them out lasts two, three years. Time is money, remember.

To avoid making a thread about jeans/pants, I apply the same style of shopping for trousers.

Nice song.
@pawian
And so the thread that I started two years ago with women in mind on this forum has been visited twice, literally twice by a woman in 2 years. Something's wrong here. But it can't be shoes.

literally twice by a woman in 2 years.

Because women hate shoes. They cost like a used car, are uncomfortable, make them taller than the guy, can't do anything in them other than a short walk from the car to a Gucci store, and they need 365 of them to keep their friends jealous. I have three pairs and still think I have one too many.

I am happy with under 100$ shoes.I wonder why some of my Euro friends here spend4/500Euros on shoes. Most Americans will never do that.

Creps, Cargo, Creps !

I like my Creps the best year around.

They have about a nine-month life expectancy before they break down.

here spend4/500Euros

And they are repairing those shoes for years,as there are plenty of shoe repair shops at least in Poland.

Most Americans prefer to buy a new shoe than repairing it.I have rarely seen a shoe repair shop or never needed to in the US,just go buy a new one.

in the US,just go buy a new one.

Of course as the arches are broken down so they have no support and after six months they usually stink like cheap vodka.

My experience tells me that shoes are not worth repairing, only with very expensive shoes I made an exception with a rather meager effect.

Shoes, socks, condoms, and underwear should never be repaired.

socks

These live their own lives and most often get lost. I remember one of our old washing machines swallowing socks. It had a cut rubber door seal hidden in a fold so it couldn't be seen. We didn't realize until the washing machine swallowed about 25 single socks. Interestingly, the washing machine did not leak.
