Runnings shoes, or creps, with socks confine your feet in the summer which makes them sweat which makes them a petri dish for toe jam fungus.

Especially if you workout at a kick boxing gym like I do.
Once the snow is gone my sandals come out.

I just don't see how anyone can fast walk in sandals.

In the original roman sandals you can even run....like Roman legionnaires did.

In a lot of the world people don't own any other type of shoes. They even play football in them.

In hot places where they're good all year round, most people only own sandals. They are worn with business suits or for sports.

They can take a while getting used to, however in west Africa I only wore conventional shoes for work and on the sunniest days to avoid sunburn.

Is there any reason to wear winter boots in summer? Same as for winter tires in summer. Lots of rain. ☔

You can use winter boots in the summer if you are at high altitude.

You can use winter boots in the summer if you live somewhere past the Arctic Cirlce.

You can use winter boots in the summer if you are a goth teenager.

You can use winter boots in the summer if you have exceptionally smelly feet. The reason - winter boots will provide a more hermetic seal - this making you a more pleasant companion. If you feel more attention that usual from people - tell them "I'm just breaking them in early".
