That's not an example of the rule of law being "undermined," it's an example of the executive clemency power being used, which is explicitly written into the U.S. Constitution and has been exercised by every president.

The rioters were arrested, charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced through the court system first. That is the rule of law functioning. A pardon after the fact doesn't erase the process or the findings.

You can dislike the use of pardons. That's fair. But pretending they're some Trump-only invention or proof the legal system collapsed is just political framing, not a legal argument.

I thought presidential pardons were to show mercy. In this particular case he's showing mercy collectively to violent protestors. If nothing else, I feel the rule of law has been manipulated for political gain.
