After some success in "Random", I would like to try out a thread dedicated to sharing rare or unpopular books.

My first entry is a timely one, in my opinion.

Here's one from my Russian collection...

unpopular books

I would certainly recommend this book to a certain bald KGB ars*hole, in his dripping-with-gold palace and stolen billions, as well as to his court and media wh*res. It would definitely be unpopular among them. :)

unpopular books

What qualifies as unpopular?

The most rare and unpopular book ever on the Polish Forums was, "Exploring Warsaw".

I think that book is still in use by the Muscovy military

Chapter 1 - recruit uneducated farm boys and don't waste too many rubels on their training
Chapter 2 - from the safety of your palace, order them to run into enemy machine guns
Chapter 3 - hide the results from the peasants
Chapter 4 - mmm 5 o clock, time for a cocktail and some caviar

What qualifies as unpopular?

Books that were in low circulation; books most people are unfamiliar with, etc.

Not books that are popularly considered bad.

Sorry, poor choice of words.

I am another one and that is because all the books here in the U.S.A. are written in English and I never learned how to read English in school.

I bet that I can make a better spitball than you can though.
Besides, we already know that you hate us.

I hate that you're buddy buddy with some local degenerates.

Have you smelled your book worm self lately ?

A behind the scenes look at Vatican II through the lens of one of its major players. He wasn't afraid to call an idiot an idiot. A fun and enjoyable read.

@AntV

Very nice!

Bought 3 random volumes of an old (and seemingly unsuccessful) encyclopedia series, at an antique shop in Cold Springs, NY.

I did.

A proud non-reader.

YES,a very proud one that laughs at the intellects esp here on forum who try to impress each other and worry about there next months financial budget to pay rent or mortgage.

I am another one

I have nothing against readers till they fu.cking dont look down upon non readers as they are not very brilliant,live example here of that nanny who asked me if I even own a book,and in fact I dont cuz I dont feel the need to and as a non reader(in fact hater) lives a better comfi life then em bragging about the crappy lil garden land she bought.in Poland.I rather invite ONE of the attorneys,Accountant or a Doctor for lunch to discuss what can get me ahead of the game FREE then brag on net how smart I am ISPIKING Angelski with my stupid knowledge that will be kapoot with me.

That is not saying much, most of your friends can't even read.....and Ziemowit is no great intellectual either!

most of your friends

Not like you, at least I have some friends.

.and Ziemowit is no great intellectual either!

What a snobbish thing to say, you don't even know the gentleman.
Ziemowit is not only an intellect but also very cultured and well travelled.
Compared to you he is a genius.
You may under estimate him because I think English is either his third or fourth language.
And yes, unlike you, he reads books constantly.

You haven't seen my library!

Now you can see my library...

I mean that's it. I hate reading books. I don't remember reading anything worth retaining and repeating. Poetry makes me literally sick like hitting two adjacent piano keys.

Let's have something a bit more cheerful, shall we? I don't know if it's rare but it's nice. A book of Russian fairy tales with English and Russian text. Then something that is quite rare, an Irish translation of Snow White.

@Bobko

No apology necessary. I loved those types of collections when I was younger. I guess it was the variety and brevity of subjects.

@Atch

Very appealing to the eye.

@Novichok

Is that an audio book?

I mean that's it. I hate reading books

That is your choice Rich.
I hate poetry too.....pointless waste of time.
But for my A Levels I studied Economics, English and French.
Which required a lot of reading books.....
I got into reading as a kid acrually,encouraged by my mum.
Currently, I have a small, quiet room on the ground floor that many Brits would call a "snug". It is quite small and square.The only furniture is two armchairs and a coffee table.

One wall is just a massive window.
The other three walls are floor to ceiling shelves.
One wall has my record collection.Vinyl albums at the bottom.
Them a shelf of vinyl singles above and CD' s on top.
The other two walls are my library, it may be small, but it has a good mix of fiction, science fiction, politics and history in there.

I have a lot of books on WW2 and European and especially Polish history.
" Poland" by James Michener is one of my favourites.
You can read and enjoy this book if you know Polish history or if you dont.
Just a great semi fictional read.
I first read it about 30 years ago and then again about 10 years ago and have just started reading it again.A great book!
He was American BTW......

I chose not to read books. I don't recall one paragraph in any book worth repeating.

The last one I read was by Dr. Phil. It was about how to lose weight. I even posted my review on Amazon. I wrote that the whole damn book can be condensed into one paragraph.
