On the bright side , PiS has accorsing to my knowledge not tried to blame Germany for this disaster. Probably because they can not deny in which direction the rivee is running.
Ruling PiS party tried to cover up eco disaster in Odra River
not tried to blame Germany for this disaster.
...because it's Putin's fault...hahahahaha...

Over ten tons of dead fish have been removed so far from the Odra.
how helpless are those PiS gangsters when it comes to dealing with such problems
It's on the news right round the world now, including here in Africa.

Read recently that another river in Germany is seen with a lot of dead fish too, with regard to a German factory. Don't know if it's correlated, odd tho.
Which river? The Rhine has historically low water due to the ongoing drought, but there is no pollution I am aware of.
Of course not. How would any kind of pollution from the German side magically teleport close to Wroclaw and then make its' way up to the sea?

Seems like I can't find the article so I can't confirm my source of information. Please ignore it.
With regard to transport of such fishes, companies can go great lengths as not to lose stockholders :)
But for now, can only relate to the information that is aveliable

Horrible... if PiS doesn't find and punish the perpetrators that will be a huge nail to their political coffin. They set up an award of 1 million pln (over 200k euro) for information about the source of toxic pollution.

what a tragedy, the Oder river is a key waterway for Wroclaw, could be Russia, who knows?
could be Russia
Could be, however this is frankly very unlikely.
It's more likely to be illegal industrial discharge or dumping chemicals by someone local.
Doubtless if the source of the contamination is found, there will be a protection.
Unless it's a PiS crony, in which case they'll probably try to cover it up as usual.

stench and mysterious discoloration: on the Oder with the "carcass fishermen"
focus.de/panorama/welt/focus-online-vor-ort-gestank-und-mysterioese-verfaerbungen-auf-der-oder-mit-den-kadaver-fischern_id_136650822.html
South of Szczecin, the mysterious death of fish in the Oder is getting worse. Volunteer firefighters pull hundreds of kilos of dead zander, pike and whitefish out of the river. Now they also report strange discolorations on the dead fish; and no one can explain them.
Discolorations? Isn't that a sign of poisoning?
Discolorations? Isn't that a sign of poisoning?
Usually yes. At least in mammals.
It really does sound like industrial discharge.
The question is, where from?
It's more likely to be illegal industrial discharge or dumping chemicals by someone local
My thoughts exactly.

Mystery of the poisoned Or solved? Mining group discharged salt water
bz-berlin.de/brandenburg/raetsel-der-vergifteten-oder-geloest-bergbau-konzern-leitete-salzwasser-ein
German and Polish authorities are still puzzling over the reason for the mass deaths of fish in the Oder. Now a Polish politician announces: A Silesian mining company is the possible cause of the ecological catastrophe!
....
The mining group KGHM has piped huge amounts of salt water into the Oder near Glogau (Silesia), MP Piotr Borys from the liberal opposition alliance KO reported on Thursday in the Polish daily newspaper "Gazeta Wyborcza".
KGHM mines copper, silver, but also rock salt. Waste water is produced during processing.
After an inspection visit, politician Borys explained: Between July 29 and August 10, large quantities of salt water flowed from the KGHM mines via the Zelazny Most reservoir into the Oder. ...

They talk about algae or some are talking about low water level that exposed some toxins they are leftovers from the WWII.
I wouldn't listen to him. Those people are proven liars.

algae low water level toxins from the WWII.
This or that, whatever. The accusation remains as it was posed in the thread name - PiS rightards tried to cover it all up.
I wouldn't listen to him
Of course you are so awfully biased against the opponents of PiS.
PiS rightards tried to cover it all up.
Even Venerable former Prime Minister Mr Tusk said it:
Tusk referred to the disaster on the Odra River and criticized the PiS government for its ineffective actions around the ecological crisis . - Unfortunately, all signs indicate that the authorities are ignoring the problem and are doing everything to hide something. This is somewhat reminiscent of - but on a much larger scale - the respirator scandal. The stench of not only dead fish, but the stench surrounding the whole matter spreads all over Poland - he said.

They talk about algae
Yeah....here now too:
Poison from golden algae detected in the Oder
spiegel.de/wissenschaft/natur/oder-gift-von-goldalgen-nachgewiesen-a-65897d16-ec26-442d-a00a-25c5c258303f
Analyzes confirm the suspicion that the poison of an algal species widespread in the Oder is behind the fish and mussel deaths. The golden alga is a natural phenomenon, but not in a freshwater river. ....
Now it is clear what was fatal to the animals in the Oder: a species of algae that is native to brackish water, which consists of salt and fresh water. The assumptions about the suspected cause of the mass death of fish, mussels and snails have thus been confirmed the Leibniz Institute for Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) on Friday in Berlin. The algae species Prymnesium parvum do not occur in large numbers under natural conditions on the affected river sections. To do this, they need a salt content that can only be caused by industrial discharges. ....

so the industrial discharge of salt water into the Oder caused the deadly algae to bloom and kill all the fish? Nail that polluter! Pis must do this to save face
Nail that polluter! Pis must do this to save face
They won`t nail anyone if that was done by a state company. PiS, taking power in 2015, put their people in the boards of all state companies. Some of them hold positions in a few boards. There are dozens of articles describing PiS leeches sucking onto Polish state assets and becoming millionaires in result. Yuk!
They won`t nail anyone if that was done by a state company
True, however the river Odra is of course not solely a Polish matter being on an international border.
The authorities on the other side have little incentive to cover up any misdeeds them may find relating to the eastern side of their shared river.
They won`t nail anyone if that was done by a state company
But what if it was a company that was tied into the local area? which on a municpal and both levels above is controlled by PO? then whatcha gonna do?
that was tied into the local area?
If the area is PiS controlled, they will try to hush it down. If not, they will blow it out of all proportions.
After exactly one month the PiS govt is still doing their best to sweep the disaster scandal under the carpet.
Thank God, their incompetent handling of the crisis resulted in lower poll results.
Exactly and will affect the support for PiS.

stubbornly claimed nothing serious had happened
This wasn't well received in Germany.
And we still don`t know what caused the disaster. Amasing.
Certain ngo organisation led by a known theatre director is suing the Polish Police for 1 million PLN promised publicly to anybody who reveals the perpetrators of the Odra River pollution.
PiS police refuse to pay. They are like PiS - liars and cheaters. Apple falling from a tree very closely.......

The Central Foundation and its president, theater director Micha艂 Zadar, applied to the Chief Commander of the Police for payment of a reward of PLN 1 million - awarded by him a year ago for identifying those responsible for the Odra poisoning. The foundation identified those responsible, but did not receive the money. After several exchanges of letters and a pre-trial demand for payment, the Foundation and the law firm Dubois i Wsp贸lnicy representing it take the case to court. The payment deadline was September 20.
In August 2022, at the height of the ecological disaster on the Odra River, the Police Commander-in-Chief, General Jaros艂aw Szymczyk, offered a reward of PLN 1 million for "indicating the person responsible for polluting the river or providing information relevant to identifying the perpetrators." Information about the award was published in a short post on Twitter and on the websites of all police headquarters across the country. It was also published by the media, especially local and regional ones, along with a telephone number to contact. In February 2023, it turned out that the reward had not been paid, although several hundred people reported to the police claiming that they had information important for solving the case and arresting the perpetrators of poisoning the second river in Poland. Therefore, the Central Foundation and its head theater director, Micha艂 Zadara, decided to claim this PLN 1 million prize. They clearly state that state institutions are obliged to fulfill their promises and refer to Art. 919 搂1 of the Civil Code: "Whoever, by public announcement, promises a reward for performing a specified activity is obliged to keep the promise."
We reported the people responsible for polluting the Odra: these are undoubtedly ministers Henryk Kowalczyk and Marek Gr贸barczyk; Jastrz臋bska Sp贸艂ka W臋glowa, whose president is Tomasz Cudny; Polska Grupa G贸rnicza, whose president is Tomasz Rogala; the then president of W贸d Polskie, Przemys艂aw Daca, and the then Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection, Micha艂 Mistrza; Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa and the voivodes of Opole, Lower Silesia, Lubusz and West Pomerania, i.e. S艂awomir K艂osowski, Jaros艂aw Obremski, W艂adys艂aw Dajczak and Zbigniew Bogucki- enumerates Micha艂 Zadara, adding that the list ends with Mateusz Morawiecki, the prime minister of the government, who is responsible for the officials subordinate to him. He reminds us that during the disaster on the Odra River, Morawiecki dismissed both President Daca and Inspector Mistrzak. - This is probably the best proof that the Prime Minister was perfectly aware of their responsibility for the lack of appropriate actions that would have first prevented the disaster and then reduced its scale.
