Should Polonia and expat Poles lose voting rights in Polish elections?

But final result will have to wait till Polonia postal votes come in.

A record number of expat Poles have registered to take part in presidential elections - 387.000. Some of them have already received and submitted their voting cards, other complain they still haven`t.

wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/wiadomosci/7,143907,26065753,wybory-prezydenckie-2020-polacy-glosuja-za-granica-zapowiada.html

5 years ago 165.000 expat Poles voted. Kukiz won the first round with 38%. Duda got 25%, Komorowski 21%.
In the second round, Duda got 56%. In the USA it was 81% of all votes.

But nothing is given for ever. In 2019 parliamentary elections Polonia rejected PiS and voted the opposition.

That was known. Actually in some places it was supposed to be Friday. Don't see why those who want to vote should miss out...

Polonia that will miss out is the Polonia in places that don't do even postal voting (I think Chile is one of them)

I am not happy about it. I believe most Polonia won`t vote Duda.

American Polonia (the worst Polonia?) probably will.... the rest probably wouldn't....

Am Polonia isn`t unanimous or unified in their views. There is traditional peasant Chicago and new intelligence in California. Check the results in previous parliamentary elections.

First, thousands of ballot cards weren`t delivered in time to Polonia and people weren`t able to vote. Thank you, PiS.

Next, 15.000 cards were lost in the UK. Thank you, PiS.

Additionally, thousands who wanted to register for the second round and the deadline was last midnight, couldn`t do it due to net registration system failure. Thank you, PiS.

Kurwa mać, have those rightard morons carried out anything correctly from the beginning to the end???? Or is Chaos and Mess second names of PiS??

Lost 15.000 cards can be a sabotage

Someone who haven't been living in Poland in the last 10 years (or at all!) should not have the voting rights. they don't pay the taxes (as they live elsewhere), and- most importantly- wont face the consequences of their choice.

it's a bit different story if, for example, someone has emigrated to earn money for business/house etc and is coming back after a couple of years (or so)- then I think they should be allowed to partake in the elections only if they already know they will come back to PL (i.e. they already have dates) in foreseeble future (but not 'one day').

Then they must simply extend the deadline - I'm sure that would get a fair hearing in the constitutional court.

Sure all of our friends in Chicago and wherever agree that polonia should get their voting rights

PiS is trying to introduce major changes into the ballot system. One of them is depriving expat Poles the right to vote while abroad. The reason is that too many American Poles voted against PiS during the last national elections.

Amasing.

More exactly, it is a PiS attempt at deprivation by limiting the time of counting the votes to 24 hours - after this time, the ballot stations have to send the results to the ballot headquarters in Poland. If they don`t make it, votes will be annulled. Foreign Poles complain 24 hours isn`t enough. Fortunately, they are determined to cast a valid vote and are calling for all hand on the deck.

You see, I can`t tell you just like I don`t tell it directly to my students who to vote for in order to avoid cheap agitation. That would be below my dignity. I only tell them to go to elections and pay back the politicians who sentenced them to years of depressing torture in PIS deformed school system.

I am going to vote for Mr Honourable Donald Tusk`s party coz they are the wisest of all. And their deputy leader, Mr Honourable Warsaw Mayor Trzaskowski is an awesome man. Not politician - just a man.

But other opposition parties are also not so bad.

tbh i'm all for blocking the voting rights of those who live abroad for years (or even their whole life!). they are not going to face the consequences of their votes, so why should they vote?

so why should they vote?

Because they are not influenced by PiS propaganda

blocking the voting rights of those who live abroad for years

It should time out after a few years. And the idea of foreigner who've never lived in a country but only have family roots there voting is simply bizarre.

Good news. As many as 70 percent more Poles than four years ago.have registered to vote abroad this year. PiS will be flushed down the toilet into the cesspool where they belong. hahahaha

As many as 70 percent more Poles than four years ago.have registered to vote abroad this year.

That's a good sign. It's mostly the younger demographic presently living and working in Europe. Some countries have issued warnings to expect very long queues if you're intending to vote, Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland, Sweden and Luxembourg. The Polish Embassy in the Netherlands even suggested that voters there could instead register in Germany and Belgium! Ireland is expecting a fairly massive turnout.

In total it's over 600,000 which is double the number of the last parliamentary election.

"In western Europe, the Polish diaspora tends to vote for parties currently in opposition. For example, in 2019, the main opposition group, Civic Coalition (KO), received 43% of the vote among Poles in Germany while the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party got 24%. In the UK, KO got 37% and PiS 20%."
