AI rulez in Poland! The New Polish Open Language Model and AI Technologies.

The Ministry of Digital Affairs announced the launch of PLLuM today. This is another large, open language model, after Bielik.AI, which can be seen as a rival to projects such as the American ChatGPT or the Chinese DeepSeek. Experts emphasize that this is a breakthrough moment, because we are joining a small group of AI leaders who already have more than one such AI model.

There is no doubt that the debut of PLLuM is a signal that Poland is joining the ongoing AI race, as well as proof that it can use the potential of incredibly talented engineers, not only to power big tech projects, but also to create its own advanced technologies. According to experts, the next model after Bielik LLM will drive implementations in companies.

Of course, both technologies require a lot of improvement. What counts is they are already working.

Wow, the Staff, thank you for completing my thread name. But, if you are already on it, it might be also useful to add and other (or a similar one) at the end, cos we will probably talk about other AI technologies apart from language ones over these years when the forum is functioning. :):):)

Coming back to both Polish technologies. Their creators do not view each other as competition.

Two Polish AI models
Bielik.AI is a grassroots initiative of AI fans and experts gathered around the SpeakLeash/Spichlerz project. PLLuM, on the other hand, is a model created by the government and a consortium of research institutions, including NASK and the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Importantly, their work is not perceived by the creators of Bielik as competition at all. "What a beautiful day for Polish AI! We are glad that the Polish artificial intelligence ecosystem is becoming richer. Bielik.AI welcomes PLLuM to the family of Polish language models," wrote Jędrzej Paulus, Bielik's brand manager, on LinkedIn.

For those who don`t know Polish, Bielik is a common name for the white eagle species.

both technologies require a lot of improvement.

E.g, PLLuM uses 8 to 70 billion parameters while other like Chatetc up to 200 billion.

PLLuM

BTW, this name is very clever. You probably associate it with English fruit word but it also has its Polish meaning. What exactly???

Poland is joining the ongoing AI race

It is therefore useful and wise to acquaint oneself with the teaching of the Holy See on the matter in question...

Is he a Butlerian? Because AI really makes me think that Butler was on to something....

I like it that the Vatiacn document quotes Ecclesiasticus/Sirach near the beginning. "Ancient wisdom" is often nonsense however the book written by Yeshua Ben Sirach is not.

Wrong! :)

From 10.02.2025:

Poland's lagging AI sector 'not developing to its full potential,' experts say

tvpworld.com/84978324/polands-ai-sector-is-lagging-experts-say

The article goes on to blame the low investment in AI on the Polish and EU governments, as well as on technology export restrictions from the United States.

But let's face reality: in feminist Poland, AI is a "gendered" problem going in the "wrong" direction.

Sure, every generation has its Luddites, but while other nations invest billions in AI to revolutionize medicine, drive technological innovation, and improve quality of life, some sheltered members of the so-called 'fairer sex' appear more concerned with resisting progress, perhaps fearing that they might be reminded that their real contribution has always been limited to domestic chores.

The purpose of AI is to eliminate jobs. That's it.

AI

We've been using AI in our work for some time now. However, it requires constant monitoring, and it's not really that intelligent.

However, it requires constant monitoring, and it's not really that intelligent.

It has its uses. Doing drudge work that you'd not have time to. It does need going through carefully though due to some of the drivel it puts out. New though and in 10 years it'll be unrecognisable.

The purpose of AI is to eliminate jobs

That's certainly a use. Sadly the way of all tech. It won't make things much cheaper though; instead it will make bad people richer.

If domestic AI, available for £18 a month, can do all that, you can bet the farm that the AI used by the Chinese government can do a lot more.
