Petition for War Crimes Reparations for Poland

@10iwonka10

I love our history. Germany invented many of teh most important things we have today. Jet engine, space rocket, x-rays, nuclear power, chemical fertilizer just to name a few.

We have a proud history. We destroyed the roman troops when Augustus wanted conquer us and changed the way of history. We pushed the huns out of europe.

Some of the greatest artists are German. Bach, Beethoven, Dürer. Goethe, Schiller. Some of the greatest philosophers like Nietzsche and Kant.

Robert Koch discovered bacteria and this started to progress in healing terrible infections like tuberculosis.

I dont think 12 years of Hitler can undo what thousands of generations of Germans did before.

What i do admitt is that in 2015 a bad mistake was done. Our government failed and i think many Germans feel betrayed. We helped alot of european nations, yet know not a single time others helped us.

Also many of the worst, like chemical warfare Fritz Haber.

Fun fact, Fritz Haber also invented chemical fertilizer. Without the "Haber-Verfahren", industrial agriculture would been impossible. Its said, that billions of people would starve withouthis invention.

Beside that, chemical warfare was done before. Even the romans and persians used poison gas.

Serbian theologist Vladeta Jerotić:

Germans & Slavs are complementary, what the Germans have the Slavs don't have (in the positive sense) and what Germans don't have the Slavs have. Why couldn't there have been in the past more supplementation instead of almost always wars? Yes you go to war with your neighbours that you share borders with. Slavs have been neighbours with Germans since the 2nd century B.C. when the conflict began Germans won the war in North Germany as they had better organisation while the Slavs were squablling amongst themselves. A good portion of today's German nation are assimilated Slavs. Many cities and towns in East Germany have Slavic names. Prussian Germany is of Slavic origin. Already cooperation is happening in the field of culture & sports but not yet in politics. He forsees a divorce between Washington & Berlin and a future German - Russian Alliance.

Fritz Haber

Who interestingly enough probably saved more human lifes with his most famous invention than any other inventor in history. Not that this was his priority of course.

That being said, this thread highlights why it is a mistake to bring up reparation issue again. All it does is stir up old divisions on both sides, with some people being more influenced by it than others. And all of this just so that a certain party gets a few percentage more in the next elections (after which the issue will disappear again for a few more years until the next election).

Exactly the idea of demanding reparations in this day and age is ridiculous, the criminals are long dead, sadly politicians feel they need to use this as leverage from time to time, the rest of us sane folks need to shake hands and forget this crap and build a better prosperous future.

Those ungrateful greeks!

Screw 'em. Cooking the books to get in, living the good life for a while on somebody else's expense, and when the money runs out they go and bite the hand that feeds them by demanding war reparations that were settled decades ago.. They should be kicked out of the EU. Would solve part of the migrant crisis, too. Killing two birds with one stone.

I always wonder who profits from bringing this **** up again and again?

I mean evryone knows nobody will pay reparations since its impossible. All it creates is hate, anger and more division on both sides.

As for Greeks...Germany held them artificial alive. Meanwhile what good are they for?
They live from EU money, cant protect their borders.

And one thing...when Germany stayed hard in 2014 in Euro crisis...Germany said polish pensioners have much less money than greek pensioners. Yet the Greeks expect to not just get german money but also polish, estonia or slovakia money and demand their own terms? For what?

Germany got much fire for staying hard with the greeks but i think it was right decission.

Countries don't help each other. There is just politics and interests and cooperation for benefits of countries.

It is not just Hitler you invaded and wanted to annihilate Poland and it is not forgotten. You can't just erase it as it never happened.

Every country has their poets, writers, inventors, composer.....

They should be kicked out of the EU.

A non-EU Greece without the Euro sounds like a pretty good deal considering they've been in depression for 10 years with no end in sight...

Germany knew the books were cooked so they share a lot of the responsibility for that catastrophe

I think that raising again subject of reparation is just stirring up as everyone knows it is not going happen.

What is sad and worrying for me its burying under the carpet all what happened during second world war as if nothing happened and feeling as good Samaritans of Europe.

Bit of humbleness would be appreciated sometimes.

you invaded and wanted to annihilate Poland

When you use the word "you" are you pointing at people like Bratwurst and Weimarer , how do they or the Germans of today have any responsibility for that history?

Those responsible are mainly dead and in hell if you believe in hell, so unless you can talk to the dead there is not point in saying you.

And no Germany cannot, and I believe will not try and erase its history, they have admitted and their leaders have begged on their knees for forgiveness and understanding, unlike the Murdering Russian Bastards that today represent themselves as the saviours of Poland and Europe.

Germany invented many of teh most important things we have today[...], nuclear power...

What type of nuclear power?

@dolnoslask

By 'You' I mean nation and country. The same can be said to British as 'you' who invaded half of the world and created their colonies . It is just stating fact. British don't have problem admitting it. Germans usually say 'Nazi' as if it was some UFO from the moon.

Germans of today don't have responsibility of the history. I think everyone should only be responsible for their own action. But as I said some humbleness would be appreciated .

Germans usually say 'Nazi' as if it was some UFO from the moon.

Yeah that's kind of true but understandable.

I wish this thread was not here, most posting on this thread a genuine decent people , we would probably all go out for a meal and a few drinks and be friends, this whole toxic thing problem monster, is created by politicians and old wounds are now weeping.

I for one am out of this thread, I am more than happy to join you guys elsewhere on the forum, maybe to talk, argue and debate more positive things.

Bye

@Vlad1234

Nuclear fission was first done by Otto Hahn in 1938 in Berlin
Vlad1234 17 | 894
22 Apr 2019 #110
This prominent discovery has more relation to nuclear fission rather than nuclear power. In modern English word nuclear power is used for something perfectly controllable like nuclear power plants. If I no make mistake the first regularly operating nuclear power plant was built in Russia.

And to be perfectly honest let's not forget that the nuclear technology was stolen by Soviet security agency from the US :-P
Vlad1234 17 | 894
22 Apr 2019 #113
Mostly those technologies which are related to nuclear bomb. I'm not sure about "stolen" however, as some American scientists willingly transferred secrets to Soviets in hope to create global power military balance.

A non-EU Greece without the Euro sounds like a pretty good deal

It's not the Greek average Joe that is to blame, but the corrupt Greek politicians. They ran the country into the ground several times already, and to cover their own derrières, they point the finger at the usual boogeyman, the Germans. Just like all the other European politicians when they are in trouble at home. Talking about war reparations is one way how they do it.
mafketis 37 | 10,957
22 Apr 2019 #116
to blame, but the corrupt Greek politicians

They couldn't be so successfully corrupt in a vacuum, other EU leaders aided and abetted the fraud because they wanted a big roll out for the Euro...

As the old saying goes, you can't cheat an honest man....
Bratwurst Boy 12 | 11,892

They couldn't be so successfully corrupt in a vacuum

Do you remember how Greece looked like before the EU membership? They used donkeys on dusty streets...till 1974 they were ruled by a military junta ffs.

Without the EU and the EURO they would still look like this! They don't need anybody to be corrupt and a failed state.
Tacitus 2 | 1,405
22 Apr 2019 #118
And the Greeks remember this. Which is why even at the height of the Euro crisis, a majority of them wanted to keep the Euro.

other EU leaders aided and abetted the fraud because they wanted a big roll out for the Euro...

The other EU leaders can't be held responsible for this. Remember before the Euro crisis, there were little to no instruments in place to control the Euro countries, as most countries vehemently resisted against this.

Oh one final but important thing on this thread, I wish to apologise to Weimarer for flippantly calling him a Nazi boy, he is certainly not that and I respect his patriotism, I guess this toxic garbage got the better of me for a moment.

See you all somewhere else.
