To answer your question directly - why Germany and not Russia.
Germany lost that war and paid compensation to all, we all thought they paid us (Poland) as well, but as it seems they get away with not paying or paying just a token money...

So, Poland as a victim says if that was suffcient not a perpertaor (Germany). I think that fair.
If you want Russia to pay, you need to support a war party to take Moscow and make them !!!

Really? So why wasn`t this problem discussed by earlier governments of Poland for 20 years after communism collapsed?? PIS had also ruled during that period, and they didn`t demand any reperations in the years 2006-2007. This antiGerman mania originated recently when PiS started to break the rule of law in Poland and the EU reacted negatively. PiS assumes that Germans are behind those anti PiS acts.

If you want my personal opinion, I'd drop the reparations demand. Not because it's not fair or "idiotic" but because getting the money is unrealistic and one should not waste energy on something that is incredibly unlikely to happen. Good relations with Germany in the future is more important than constant going back to WW2 and opening the old wounds.

Having said that, Germans should at least return the stolen works of art still in German galleries and museums. This is a minimum of decency.

The matter has been over for many decades by now.

The previous Polish government knew this and just exploited this issue for domestic reasons. Good to see that with the new government reason and rationality returns to Warsaw's diplomacy. At a time when Putin openly seeks to redraw borders in Europe and a possible second Trump presidency that may prove fatal to NATO, this development comes no day too soon.
