Guys, if you ever come across a pub or restaurant run in Warsaw by Robert Surowiecki , don`t even think of going inside.
He planned to name his new premises after an infamous Austrian pedophile who kept and raped his daughter in the basement for many years.

After indignant reactions from the council and net users, he gave up his idea but admitted it was an excellent marketing move.

Poland moustache

thejournal.ie/fritzls-cellar-bar-poland-755380-Jan2013/

The manager of the club told one Polish news website that "marketing has its own rules" and said that market research had found 89 per cent of people surveyed had nothing against the proposed name for the bar. However, a host of outraged comments have been put on the club's Facebook page, while other social media outlets have been set alight with heated discussions on the issue.

If he ever opens any premises in Warsaw or Kłaj, don`t use them and let us know so that we can warn people about it.

Dear members, this guy will try to open his pub anyway at the same location under a new name. The exact address is Warszawa, ul. Nowy Świat 27. Please, stay away from his pub for the sake of our children!

The premises are located in this building: Nowy Świat 27

Amazing how Polish men can get infatuated with Polish females.

The head of Warsaw Stock Exchange lost his job because he loved his woman too much.

Sobolewski was suspended in December following reports that he and a subordinate were involved in soliciting funds from companies listed on the stock exchange for a commercial movie featuring Sobolewski's girlfriend.

Only Polish males are able to love their women so much. They will do everything for them.

New regulations caused it - a formal ban on cheap hoardings and ads. How simple! ????

Great news!

Actually, I see that the reactions in comments are mixed...

And I must admit I understand why... It may sound surprising but I somehow prefer the picture on the left:

Of course, the buildings should be renovated, but the place on the left looks climatic, and the one on the right looks just like any European city... It reminds me of Vienna. My impression of that city could fit in three words - clean, whitish and... boring... It's a nice city, beautiful architecture but I preffered Paris, despite it was... I don't know... more "dirty" I guess lol But interesting and alive at the same time...

Of course it depends on personal tastes but I think some compromise should be achieved to retain Kraków's atmosphere...

Don`t laugh. Only Polish men are able to get infatuated. Others just pretend.

Actually, I see that the reactions in comments are mixed...

Yes, but it is typical of novelties that they are received with doubt and suspicion.

Of course, the buildings should be renovated, but the place on the left looks climatic,

Yes, climatic when we think of 1990s when Poland threw off communism and adopted capitalism and new enterprises sprang up like mushrooms after rain. But in 21 century it is time to mature. Don`t you agree? :):):)

It reminds me of Vienna. My impression of that city could fit in three words - clean, whitish and... boring...

Hmm, yes, feeling bored is awful experience.

Hey, cheer up, you can always turn to the Polish forums to dissipate boredom! :):

Of course it depends on personal tastes but I think some compromise should be achieved to retain Kraków's atmosphere...

Let`s see how it develops. I think some places will always retain their old fashioned atmosphere.

E.g., Kazimierz, the Jewish district, today:

Just like Wałęsa said: "Jestem za, a nawet przeciw" :))
And on a more serious note:

I think some compromise should be achieved to retain Kraków's atmosphere...

Let`s see how it develops.

Yes, we'll see... I don't mind changes, I just think they should be well thought out.
For example, I don't really like the Disney-like colour of the renovated railway station in Wrocław:

It hurts my eyes ;/

Polish President shaved his moustache!

I saw the president today on TV giving some interview and I can't get used to it! I just can't lol He looked better with mustache in my opinion...

Only Polish males are able to love their women so much. They will do everything for them.

But they can be also very jealous. I just read that ex Stock Exchange chairman forced film directors to give up romantic scenes with his female partner because he couldn`t bear the thought she could kiss somebody else. !!! :):):)

he couldn`t bear the thought she could kiss somebody else. !!! :):):)

Although the lady doesn`t seem to be too smart. Or it is only stage fright. Still a surprising thing in an actress.

Anna Szarek , lifemate Ludwik Sobolewski , do not feel guilty about the loss of his position as CEO of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Even on the contrary - as told in " Fakty afternoon " on TVN 24 - herself in the story was " a valuable element that had to create the appearance of an appeal Sobolewski " as president of the WSE.

In Europe, becoming more and more rotten, only Polish people are still so loyal in marriage.

thenews.pl/1/9/Artykul/125945,Polish-couple-celebrate-longest-marriage-in-Europe

A Polish couple are celebrating their 82nd wedding anniversary today, marking the longest ongoing marriage in Europe.
Ignacy (104) and Stefania Stasiak (101) originally tied the knot way back in 1931.
They took their marriage vows 82 years ago today in their native town of Aleksandrow Lodzki, central Poland, where the pair still lives.

A snapshot from Krakow is making a furore in the photo world:

Heh. Komoruski was one of the least intelligent presidents of Poland. Along with Agent Bolek and Kwaśniewski. Undereducated morons. Tussk was close but he wans't a president. Luckilly.

The two people you mention (the first and third) are both educated and highly intelligent. High achievers too. The third teaches at Georgetown University. The second (that you don't try to spell the name of) is uneducated and right-win, but certainly a decent person.

An aggressive cow climbed onto the roof of an unfinished house and didn`t want to cooperate, neither with her owner nor fire brigade. Finally, they made a hole in the roof and brought it down.

Lol.
I've seen it today.
Cows seem to be quite rebelious apparently. Climbing roofs or joining a herd of bisons; )

Be careful when dealing with beavers in Poland - they can bite! A woman was bitten by a beaver which illegally entered her house - she had to be taken to hospital:

An ex-Afganistan veteran had been keeping a cougar as a feline pet. The court ordered him to give it to the zoo. Instead, he took the cat to the forest and is hiding there with it. The police have been trying to locate them for 2 days to no avail.

The cat looks quite big.

Rambo, give them hell!

Rambo, give them hell!

Well, eventually he gave up. The cat was taken to the Silesian zoo, close to man`s home. He can keep in touch with her as a volunteer.

It is a heartbreaking story coz we have always had many pets at home (two cats, a rabbit, turtle, tortoise, mice, snake right now) so I know how he feels. But the risk was too high - such big cats remain wild and you never know when they can snap and attack you or worse, your family.

Poles are planning to buy American Abram tanks after a recent road accident with catastrophic effects for two Soviet-designed tanks currently used by the Polish army.

Enough is enough! Those ex Soviet tanks are like living torches.

Let`s celebrate with another piece of news. The crew of Black Pearl pirate ship crashed into a Gdańsk harbour service ship. 7 passengers were injured. The police found out two pirate crew members were under the influence.

Two guys decided to take up smuggling for a living. They groomed a van so that it looked like an ambulance - semblance is striking - and tried to give a lift to 18 migrants. It wasn`t their lucky day, though. I am so old but I can be still amazed at some ideas of my compatriots.

If only they could channel their imagination and persistence into something legal and not harmful....

What a waste!

That is a pretty good idea. Full marks for effort!
