Here's one for Novi to have some fun with.
British monarchy will receive around $180 million in government funding, annual report shows.
Now that's taxpayers money, right ?
And they get what back for it ?
And then there is the scuttle about where poor little George will be attending secondary school.
Katie wants him to go to a co educational school like she did and Willie wants him to go to an all boys school like he did.
The drama in England these days is just to much.
Who do you think will prevail ?

The government earns more then it spends on the monarchy last time it was debated. Probably hasn't changed. They are funded for a reason, $180 million for a government is peanuts.

That's right. The revenues from the Crown Estates are paid in full to the government who give a portion of it back to cover expenses.

And then there is the scuttle

A coal scuttle?

Do you mean a parental discussion about which school a kid goes to? Nothing unusual and nobody's business except the kid's parents. It's nothing to do with the gender of the kids in school; it's simply a choice between Eton and Marlborough, which is nearer to which of their homes and a few other considerations.

They are funded for a reason, $180 million for a government is peanuts.

Especially since having a president costs the yank taxpayers $1.6 billion a year

Nothing unusual and nobody's business

I agree however my point was that this was big news in a British newspaper.
How can us Yanks ever diminish you like you diminish TACO if your countries leader never does anything news worthy.
Trump is babysitting the world and is bound to make a mistake or two that you run with.
If you don't do ANYTHING then you can't make any mistakes.
Ya trackin' with me now Mr. Twister ?
You couldn't begin to do Trumps job.

my point was that this was big news

It wasn't.

It wasn't even in the quality papers.

You couldn't begin to do *rumps job.

Nor can he.

It wasn't even in the quality papers.

Of course not, they are all "dodgy" according to you, except for the Woke ones that you agree with.
Whats new ?
It wasn't.

You think your one man opinion holds such authority to make such a broad statement ?
It doesn't.
Back to my point, Britain seldom has anything news worthy that the rest of the world would be interested in compared to America's daily news.
My post post #545 explained that already.

they are all "dodgy"

Ost of them yes. The owners are often tax avoiders living abroad.

There are three fairly respectable ones, all broadsheets, only one of which, The Guardian, can be called independent, and of the tabloids, only the Mirror doesn't have questionable ownership.

seldom has anything news worthy that the rest of the world would be interested

Yet you, the coffin-dodger and a couple of other bin-diving nomarks find plenty there that is newsworthy.

a choice between Eton and Marlborough

Is Marlborough fully co-ed now? It was single-sex up to the sixth form back when we used to play cricket against them. A friend of mine got kicked out of there for dealing coke in her first term (in the sixth form obviously).

Is Marlborough fully co-ed now? It

Not sure, The school I went to was somewhat different, When I was there it hit the front page of the Daily Mail with the headline "is this the worst school in Britain".

No OTC, no houses and definitely no copies of Jorrocks.

kicked out of there for dealing coke

Our maths teacher, Mrs Hobson, used to give us cigarettes as a reward for pupils who stayed quiet during the lesson and didn't chin each other or destroy anything. Two other teachers there (one male, one female) married pupils within weeks of them leaving school. One teacher was fired for throwing a kid out or PF a second floor window and the RE teacher was sectioned for taking all his clothes off and running out of the school during g the lunch break.

It burnt down in the end. The alumni from my time probably include more future murderers (I'm not joking here) than future graduates. Even when I was there, some of the 4th and 5th year girls were turning tricks in town, The school actually had a mother and baby unit, and this was 40 years ago.

No coke or even weed sadly in South Yorkshire pit village comprehensive schools back then, but plenty of glue.

It was geographically close to and similar in appearance to the school in Kes only far far worse, But hey, I survived more or less and have done reasonably well now the trauma has receded.

I'd quite have fancied a public school, that sort of self confidence that people get from them. That and an actual education as well and teachers with degrees or even opposable thumbs.

No OTC, no houses

Well, there wouldn't have been an OTC anyway, those are at the university level. My old house at school is also no more, it got pulled down and the site was sold for housing. I still have half a brick that I pulled from the rubble after hearing that the place had been demolished.

plenty of glue

To be fair, there was a lot more huffing of aerosols than sniffing of coke (although I personally never tried the former of those).

lot more huffing of aerosols

I'm a few years older and very much from the glue generation. Sid.Vicious was still alive when I started there.

UHU? Don't mind if I do!

wouldn't have been an OTC

Are they called cadet corps instead? Simon Raven writes about them.

Thinking about school, there was only really one teacher her I liked. He was very conscientious but only there formless than a year before suddenly leaving and never being mentioned again. He was later jailed for being one of the country's most prolific nonces with activities spanning decades.

I don't understand why you, no matter where you are, Poland, Britain, or Africa, show a propensity to support twats.

Why do you think TikTok and Instagram are banned???

Don't they plan to ban them in Britain? Soon, you will reach the glorious enlightenment of North Korea.
By the way, why do you support twats? It seems they've caught your fancy in some weird way.
Also, watch that YouTube vid I posted.

I couldn't agree with you more!Great video BTW!
People like Jon, who I like, are hoping that Kier Starmer will make good, but it is a forlorn hope, he is the most useless PM I can remember and I am 68 years old!

Why do you think TikTok and instagram are banned?

They aren't but Tik Tok should be banned.
jon357  73 | 24805

Tik Tok should be banned.

Probably since it's Chinese owned, however they don't like to ban things. Twitter and instagram bring no good to the world either, especially twitter.

I couldn't agree with you more

That guy has literally praised the Nazis.

he is the most useless PM I can remember

Did you miss Sunak, Truss, Johnson, May, Cameron, Major, The Milk Snatcher, Heath, Douglas-Home and MacMillan?

What don't you like about the current one who has a supermajority and will be in office for the next 9 years?

I don't. Why do you? Do tell...

You support Stamer, you support Biden, you support Kwasniewski and Tusk. I bet you support a long line of twats, including that major twat, Ramaphosa.
I course is that your preference, or there is something in the English water that makes many people from there support twats. Someone not unlike you sold down the river Rhodesia for some change. I guess it was for the greater good. LOL!

You still refuse to acknowledge the reality and the fact that they are twats.

So are you, come to that.

So which European politicians do you support?

Living ones, not Hitler, Franco, Dolfuss, Salazar and Mussolini.

tesk , no arguments, only personal insults.

So which European politicians do you support.

I don't care about European politicians.
Living ones, not Hitler, Franco and Mussolini.

Why would I support them? I mean, Franko wasn't that bad.
Do you still support Lenin, Stalin, Pol-pot and Mao?

Like your sense of humour, Jon. In reality, he would be lucky to last to the end of the year, as Labour are imploding a little bit more each day. This man was never meant to be a leader, and has left the country in a terrible mess. God knows what it will be like in 4 years time if a general election isn't called for soon.
jon357  73 | 24805

No we aren't.

and has left the country in a terrible mess

You're confusing us with the useless Johnson, Truss and Sunak.

if a general election isn't called for soon

Why would we call one? The Tories didn't. And he has a mathematically undefeatable supermajority.

BTW:
- we're now starting to puncture the Channel dinghies and return unwanted migrants (which the Tories never did),
- we have signed trade deals with the US and India
- we have increased the minimum wage by 7%, benefitting 3 million British workers
- and made a £22.6 billion increase to NHS spending
- cut waiting lists for 5 months in a row
- started to renationalise the railways (rather than let foreign private companies rip us off)
- banned no-fault evictions and limited sky-high ground rents
- achieved the fastest‑growing G7 economy in Q1 2025: GDP rose 0.7%, outperforming all other G7 countries
- Saved 5,000 steelworkers jobs in Scunthorpe and Port Talbot
- started restoring fiscal stability, enabling the Bank of England to cut interest rates four times since the election

and....

The FTSE 100 has just reached 9000 today; a record high.

Whatever you're smoking, it must be pretty good.
jon357  73 | 24805

And - we've returned/deported 34,978 migrants over the past 9 months, a 30% increase on the Tories' last two years in office

...and this is coming out just now?

How did he become your leader? A coin flip?
jon357  73 | 24805

A coin flip?

By winning an election with a massive supermajority that guarantees two 5 year terms of office.
Vincent  8 | 813

How did he become your leader? A coin flip?

He won by default, 75% of the country didn't vote because the Tories are just the same as Labour, just have a different name.
