How will Poland do in Euro 2024

Serbian ultras have already arrived in Germany.

Hopefully plenty will be locked up for a long time.

He's recovering in hospital.

One has to admire the restraint of the German police; they weren't trigger happy, didn't empty their clips as we often see happening in the USA. The guy was shot in the leg and given first aid right away - full professionalism.

Class - one thing that you just can't buy.

Koeman once wiped his arse with a german Shirt in 1988....it's not forgotten in Germany!

He was and stays an *******!

Serbia vs. England match has already begun outside the stadium.

Both are notorious for their troops...

Maybe we put them into Gelsenkirchen because of that? There can't be so much destroyed...;)

It has begun.

3 Serbs stole the flags from 15 Englishmen who hit the road and fled.

In the hooligans scene it is a big diss and embarrassment if you manage to lose your banner. What a humiliation.

who hit the road and fled.

Or rather didn't engage with the Serbian thugs.

In the hooligans scene

That's an Eastern European trash culture. England no longer has anything to do with such things.

As I say, hopefully the police in Germany will come down on some of them like a ton of bricks and they will be jailed, then excluded from entering the Schengen zone.

Both are notorious for their troops...

You're very out of date. Ours were locked up at home and have to surrender their passports in advance of overseas matches. We solved the problem; it seems that lesser countries in Eastern Europe are too weak to address the issue.

Same island, different cultures. English fans sing about the bombing of Germany while the Scottish bagpiper (or piper) plays the host's national anthem after theirs:

What a set play by Denmark! Not a good start by Slavic teams so far. :-/

We'll see what Serbia, Ukraine, Czechia and Slovakia will show.

always a heartbreak in the end.

It may have been you who warned me years ago that to support Poland soccer is to invite a life of heartbreak. After more than decade, I relent: it is heartbreak.

But, hope is alive! Those French twats need to be put in their place.

:(

Those French twats need to be put in their place.

Hopefully we can get at least a point against Austria and then win against the French reserve team in the final game (they will rest their first team before the knock-out stage after beating Austria and the Netherlands). This should be enough to qualify, if not from the 2nd then from the 3rd place.

Football? Yes.

Spare a thought for people in small towns whose team plays for the Biedronka league 2 south eastern division...

Or 'countries' that aren't even countries, just an unwanted bit of the Ottoman Empire who keep getting beaten in every war they try to start and can't even stop chunks of what they still believe is 'their' country separating from them and doing well.

Football? Yes.

You may not know that I'm an American, we call it soccer. If I call it football the astute posters may think I've gone mad and think I'm talking about, as Torqi puts it, cyborgball.

@Torq

Hope is still alive....in my broken heart.

Hey, tell me about it. I am Gryf Słupsk for life! :) Luckily, Lechia Gdańsk, an allied club of Gryf, came back to Ekstraklasa (they won 1. liga this season).

Also, I have much more respect for folks from small towns supporting their local teams than for twats in the same towns sporting Barcelona or Real Madrid jerseys.

Same island, different cultures.

It's true....the Scots have made many new friends and fans here (when they are not playing Germany, that is, heh:)

The English....well....hopefully it will be another entertaining game!

You're very out of date.

Better for Gelsenkirchen! :)

Hope is still alive....

...and there is reason for it! Poland showed up today, even made the Dutchies sweat for their three points....when they can repeat that PLUS Lewandowski!, who knows? :)

Hmff. Just think about Donny Rovers...

Me too. I'm in Africa now, in a place where people can name the whole Barca and Real teams but not a single member of their local one.

Scots have made

Britain is a diverse and rich culture; one thing about Scotland fans is that the women often travel to international games and lighten the atmosphere. I wish we/they'd leave the kilts and bagpipes at home though.

England fans seem to be reacting to Serbian 'ultras' with great restraint. The 'ultras' were obviously looking for trouble and made fools out of themselves.

I find the small town clubs and support they get to be immensely neat.

We have it with baseball minor leagues in the states, but it's not quite like the soccer clubs.

who knows? :)

Exactly Beebs!

Keep hold of it and never lose it!

Sadly it's cheaper now for a TV package to stream big matches than going on a cold Saturday morning to a local stadium. A great shame since things like that help to bring communities together.

A pic of the violence. These look like Serbians however there are reports that there are Albanian 'ultras' there too, because the Serbians are there.

Scottish fans: We will support Serbia against England

The Scots sang a song for Sportal that will enrage the English and delight the Serbs

The Scots created a frenzy, cheering for Serbia and raising three fingers: "Please, just beat the English"
"We hate England more than you".

It's a darn shame the Irish aren't there as they too would support Serbia.

:)

See jon357, the Scots are a people that hate you from the bottom of their soul.

Some British fans are among those thought to be injured after bloody punch-ups ensued, said to be sparked by Serbia's arch-rivals Albania attacking Serbs.

So it was shiptars living in Germany who started the whole thing.

See jon357, the Scots are a people that hate you from the bottom of their soul.

You're mistaking sport for real life, and Britain for 'Yugoslavia'.

Anyway, I'm half Scottish and I fúcking love myself.

I hope they are prosecuted to the maximum

They definitely will be. Most fans travelling from Western European countries are middle aged and well behaved, if a little loud. It looks as if the German police have figured this out.

Why is that seen by Serbs as historic already? It's just the first group game, isn't it.....

Serbia England

England has a frightening frontline with Kane, the Real Madrid guy Bellingham and Foden. It's weakness is the defence which is suspect with unproven Guehi replacing the injured Harry Maguire.

Otherwise, it is unbelievable to me that Southgate did not bring anyone from the triangle of Grealish, Maddison, Sancho to be on his bench, but decided on the unproven offensive players of Crystal Palace, West Ham... they will certainly help him in one hundred and one minutes against France or Germany when the freshness and individual quality of someone from the bench is decisive.
