Poland's aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 24

Would it become more authoritarian or would some form of Glasnost emerge ?

The $10 TRILLION DOLLAR QUESTION!

I think not much will change while the Old Man is in charge. He won't let anyone dismantle his legacy while he is around.

He doesn't listen to his kids, or his young trophy wife. He only listens to his buddies, who are just as old, and untraveled as he is.

But there is some hope, that liberals will be given more oxygen - so that we may be able to revive the economy for him. He knows the security clique is totally useless at managing the economy.

If he wants the help of Russian liberals in reviving the economy, he also has to hand out a few sweets. Unlock Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp - little things like that.

Business is gonna wanna know, that he's not gonna attack someone tomorrow again - and wreck things all over again. 4 years of this nonsense is enough.

Construction teams from every ******* region are working on rebuilding Mariupol, with billions being poured in.

They did after all destroy it and deliberately murder hundreds of its children and abduct even more.

if ****** _could_ compete in the lifestyle race it would

And it never has.

They could compete in a lifestyle race - lots of big mineral rich countries do like Canada, Australia, the US and even South Africa

But it means building institutions first which is difficult and time consuming - Argentina and Brazil still getting the hang of that, and in NN then they would really be starting from zero.

On the economy I agree with Bobko - it would be 4 or 5 years before there was meaningful foreign investment as they will want to know their assets won't be confiscated the next time Putler goes nuts. Of course some of Golden Cow's chancer friends would pile in and quickly be ripped off by smarter local operators. But even in the US the real money is all in publicly held companies who need to manage risks properly.

You're a westerner and think of people as individuals --- very unrussian.

russians think of people as a fungible substance... if they destroy a city of 200,000 killing tens of thousands and driving more away and then they 'rebuild' it and ship in people so that it has 200,000 people again --- then they haven't done anything bad to the city.

You're cooking an need a cup of milk... you spill it on the counter so you clean up and take more from the fridge and the recipe turns out...

That's how russians think of people

Russia is over, and it was a fake country that only existed for the last ~500 years anyway.
It's inevitable it will collapse and be balkanized sooner or later.

Areas that were fought over or divided have tended to become poor and depopulated. Though most have improved since EU entry.

Sudetenland, the Western Polish / German border areas, the Krajina. All full of empty villas and dusty gas stations. The government can sink money and tax breaks there but private investors hate contested territory and military restrictions offer make it difficult to buy large amount of land needed for factory or infrastructure.

That's probably the future for Donetsk - cut off from its natural markets

The Western part of Ukraine could prosper if they sort out corruption

The Western part of Ukraine could prosper if they sort out corruption

Infeasable in my opinion. One would have to create small pockets of low taxed suburbs with monasteries, factories and business firms with strict control with aim of fighting corruption.

With enough of such pockets spread through out the country (preferably 1 in each region) it could lead to the rest of the population to follow suit.

This forum is now a single-subject mental institution where Trump is stupid, Putin is evil, Zhole is a statesman, and the EU is wise.

Ukraine is winning. We should defend Ukraine to the last Ukrainian and cheer him from behind America's ATM.

My contempt for you, morons, reached the end of the scale.

This forum is...

... the place where you spend most of the rest of your life.

Stop complaining and embrace the love of all things European (especially Polish).

The same. It was noticeable.

Trump didn't like what Nawrocki said during the video conference - that he has to talk firmly to Putin and not give in. Hence, no invitation for the Europe-Ukraine-USA talks.

It might turn out for the better anyways - if Poland is absent from those talks, we won't have to accept any additional obligations towards Ukraine. I also hope that when the current government tries to push retarded bills to spend further billions on Ukraine without any sort of compensation for Poland, he will have enough balls to veto them.

If Russia remains in the war mode (militarily and economically), then of course we have to keep supporting Ukraine. However, when a credible peace deal is agreed upon and Poland, as usual, is predictably f*cked in the arse again (in both rebuilding contracts and Volhyn exhumation/commemoration issue) then Nawrocki gives a bit of hope that we might eventually exit the Kiev-Washington-Brussels anus and conduct at least partly sovereign foreign policies.

God knows I am trying...and can't find one damn Euro thing I would like to copy here.

Any suggestions? How about 50 languages for 50 US states...What a grand idea...

There is a place in the US known as Four Corners. In Europe, that place would be where we could hear 4 different languages...I am so jealous...

Oh, and those -isms...Euros are really creative...

Oh, and those -isms

Yeah, especially wokism... no... wait a minute - it's an American invention - just like political correctness and cancel culture.

Did I miss something? When did the Presidency become a policy making position in Poland?

One thing I've noticed in the last week or so is more Ukrainian employees in stores (after a period of absence/decline). You might not like it but Ukrainian labor was an important part of Poland's economic rise and it's better to have friends than follow the PiS policy of treating all neighbors as sworn enemies for all time....

I forgot about Euro-style divorce...Woman's head separated from the torso...no alimonies...no custody hearings...swift and so final...

Did you ever think that decapitating your kings and queens would be the highest rated show ever?

When did the Presidency become a policy making position in Poland?

Polish President is the commander-in-chief of Polish Armed Forces and he has the power to veto any bill that he deems retarded.

The current government doesn't have enough seats in Sejm to reject presidential veto, so Tusk cannot go full-retard or Nawrocki will veto him.

Ukrainian labor

I don't mind Ukrainian labor. I do mind half-wits waving genocidal banderite red-black flags in public places in Poland but luckily some of them are being deported as we speak. May their journey to Pokrovsk be swift and one-way.

Yeah, especially wokis

Except that American wokism didn't kill anyone. Colonialism, communism, and fascism did. You win.

Polish President is the commander-in-chief of Polish Armed Forces

Was he late for the meeting on Monday or just wasn't invited out of fear that he would say something really stupid...like "Putin is an evil dictator"....or "Never Forget Katyn"...

Colonialism, communism, and fascism

Colonialism is the only reason why there are still railways or water-works anywhere in Africa (quickly deteriorating in many places), communism gave you free engineering degree, and fascist mindset is a factory setting for MAGA crowd, so what are you complaining about?

American wokism

Do dot forget American Faggotry.
On the other hand faggotry in Poland is fake news and cope by westoid rightwingers, since they cant accept we stayed pure, and only their inferior countries fell to the corruption. If you actually ever visited Poland, you wont see much faggotry and shitskins on the streets, there are some of course, as in every country ever, but they're low in numbers and generally hiding, only emerging in big groups and being visible once or twice a year during some parades where they're protected by the police - otherwise they dont show themselves, because they know someone would quickly beat the sh!t out of them.

Russia launches missile attacks on central Ukraine hours after Trump-Zelensky meeting concludes

That was extremely nice of Russia...

I would launch during the meeting...after every missile gets a big red middle finger painted on it...

Now we know why Trump called Putin....

Seemingly during a meeting break Selensky told about an ukrainian kid, kidnapped by Russians and put into a kind of camp/offered for adoption, the parents know exactly where the kid is but can do nothing...as BILD reported Trump was very moved by that and as he was asked to contact Putin about the fate of the young one he spontaneous did!

Nice....

...This put the 19,500 abducted Ukrainian children at the top of the agenda of the Ukraine/Russia talks in Washington!....

Apres vous....

Do more North Koreans try to get to South Korea or vice versa?

Which one starved about 20% (conservatively speaking) of its population to death in the 1990s?

Which one is a cultural superpower?

@Bratwurst Boy

This is a nice story BB, but I don't believe it's true.

Maybe, in a better world, statesmen would bother to make such a call. But I think both Trump and Putin don't give a single sh*t about some orphaned child in Ukraine.
Bratwurst Boy  8 | 12348

but I don't believe it's true.

....I thought about that, Bobko....I very much doubt Selensky would want to be seen as a liar with this crowd!!!

Imagine the situation....all these leaders plus Trump, which sympathy he so needs. A good personal accord with this man could decide about the survival of his country!

If came out that Selensky's tear jearker was just propaganda and Trump would had been humiliated by Putin because of that, shown as a naive stupid, that would be a huge own goal...Selensky wouldn't dare!

So....seen in the light of that background it has to be true...IMHO!

And there is more to that:

...Zelensky and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had already addressed the issue of children at the beginning of the summit. Zelensky even handed Trump a letter from his wife, Olena, to Melania Trump in the Oval Office. It contained the fate of the abducted children. And a thank you to Melania Trump! She had written to Putin a week earlier about abducted children who were victims of war. Melania Trump told Putin: "When you protect the innocence of these children, you are doing more than just serving Russia-you are serving humanity."....

Melania's letter:
