In Cyprus the peacekeepers seem to hang around cafes, play football on the beach and go hiking, without problems. Last time I'm was there they were from Argentina and Canada I think.

Russia attacked Ukraine but they are not in NATO so the U.S.A. is not obligated to send troops to get killed.

Are you serious?! North of the Alps the US has one combat brigade permanently and one rotated helicopter brigade and armor/mech infantry brigade. Together that's about 11,000 personnel. By comparison, Lithuania has a regular army of 23,000. Poland has an army of 216,000, nearly 20 times that US presence, and several Polish brigades are better armed than those US troops too. In total NATO has between 80 and 82 ready-to-go brigades in Europe: three of those are from the US.

That's exactly the thing....the hurt british soldiers would not be hurt as part of Ukraine but part of NATO, and then also the US would be obligated to act.
But, admittedly THE TRUMP is still a totally dark horse on that....he could decide this way, but also that way!

That's from 2019. In 2025 it's the Second Cavalry, a Stryker unit permanently based in Germany. East of the Rhine and north of the Alps it's just 3nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, who are helping to protect the Sulwalki Gap. Also factor in 12th Aviation Brigade with their attack helicopter battalion with 24 Apache helicopter gunships.
There's also some air power, 3rd Air Force, which has the following fighting aircraft: 24 x F-35, 24 x F-15 and 24 x F-16. Compare that with the biggest NATO air forces in Europe (France, Greece, Spain, Germany, UK, Italy, Sweden, Poland and Finland, in that order) who can field 1,100 to 1,200 first-line NATO-standard fighter aircraft.

If you want logic about where peacekeepers come from then ask the US - everything to do with the "peace plan" is their idea and I am sure they have thought through all the detail.

Could be Sri Lankans - I have a vague memory of meeting Ukrainian peacekeepers in the mid 90s over there, so they could return the favor.

Ukraine rejects the US conditions and fights on. The EU intensifies its aid to Ukraine. Russia is still sanctioned and loses men by thousands every day. One day they have enough and rebel, like in 1917.
