Tomasz Stala got a first place on Konfederacja's electoral list in Częstochowa:

vibez.pl/myimpact/antysemita-homofob-i-rasista-tomasz-stala-liderem-na-liscie-konfederacji-6934317232081856a

He's an anti-Semite, homophobe and a racist, who published a book with Hitler's quotes and is selling T-shirts with such slogans as: "We don't want Jews, homosexuals, abortion, taxes and the European Union" or "Om nom nom nom... anti-Semitism drank with mother's milk."

Surprise, surprise... 🤮

A reason PiS should win upcoming election.
- stability
there is a war, Russia, border and issues like that...
Let be honest here PO is not fit or ready to take charge in Poland. that would be a mess.
Other parties are to weak and have neither enougfh support or enough people to run a counrty.
Overtly it would be good if PiS won, they would their last term anyways goven J Kaczynski age.

True, but look what happened after the war in England, Churchill and the established order was voted out in a landslide, regardless of heroes and 'national defence.'

Mind you, that was on a real labour platform, nationalisation, free healthcare and a decent wage.

I don't think if english Labour Party had campaigned on an anti Churchill platform, eight stars and jebac P*S they would have won.

I predict konfa vote 16-26 percent.

True, but look what happened after the war in England

In Britain?

It actually happened during the war, several months before the end, and surprised many people. Churchill was seen as a hero even by the people who voted him out. If they could have had a Labour government with Churchill as PM they'd have chosen that.

It could happen in Poland though I'm not at all sure there'll be change. As you say, what people voted for in 1945 was a National Health Service, nationalisation, unionised workplaces, health and safety at work, social housing and good pensions/sickness benefit.

500+ is a vote winner and it's hard to imagine people who depend on that risking its demise.

I don't think if english Labour Party had campaigned on an anti Churchill platform

Very much so. That would have been a non-starter. People voted for affordable homes, not against a much loved leader.

I'm not sure that any of the PiS figures (or any other politician from any party) are especially revered though.

It could happen in Poland though

Not now and not with PO which is nothing with Tusk at the helm, is neither Tories nor Labour in terms of content althought there is some resembalnce the way they sailing poiltical currents for example.

I think given the mood that PiS will still win this election it might be as well be their last. Will they carry full term - it is hard to predict . ,

There is no way that PO will win and there is no any other candidate for that..so PiS is all that i left.

I'm not sure that any of the PiS figures.

Very true. Duda up there but Zelensky not going to meet him publicly in the next five weeks.

1945 was a National Health Service, nationalisation, unionised workplaces, health and safety at work, social housing and good pensions/sickness benefit.

Sorry I missed a few of that revolutionary labour government :) What Poland needs since 89 and shock therapy.

PiS will still win this election

realistically with konfa in coalition, if it's with PO and neo-liberal, then god help us all.
Outlier is PiS/PSL in coalition.

The war would be over the next day

Almost right... they need to invite putain and manage to get him terminally sick.... and then not only does the war in Ukraine end.... it stops the next several wars that russia wants at the same time...

And watching russians backtrack about how they were always against the war but..... (lame excuse lame excuse lame excuse) which will be effin' hilarious.

the problem is russia... no other country.

Just read an article that claims that DT's party admitted putting out an ad which included a deep fake voiceover of the PM Mateusz Morawiecki. Yet this is not reported on at all??

europeanconservative.com/articles/news/poland-eu-silent-on-liberal-opposition-using-deep-fake-technology/

''So-called 'deep fakes' are a major concern for European lawmakers with fears that elections in the near future may be hijacked by sinister outside forces or authoritarian regimes. Despite this, the use of AI technology by Civic Platform to fake a political rival's voice does not seem to perturb the EU establishment or NGO sector who have not condemned the fabrication of the PM's voice.''

Yet this is not reported on at all??

As a funny thing is should be. But that is a piece of cake compared to how PIS are destroying Poland.

deep fake voiceover

Darling, not deep fake but artificial intelligence produced this voice to read Morawiecki mails which hugely discredit him as a liar, manipulator, azhole.

It's a step in a very bad direction and you know it. There is a difference between a private mail and reading it out loud, the latter has a far greater impact which is why they did what they did, how did they get access to the PMs mails anyway?

Political parties have been using black PR since before the term was invented. Including often enough in Poland.

The current ruling party should not throw stones (like the 'news' programming on TVPiS, presenting their point of view as 'news' on a TV station owned by everyone) while they live in a glass house.

This is a non-story, though out of an abundance of caution, perhaps they should hire a very skilled actor or actress to read them out in a particularly menacing tone.

There is a difference between a private mail

Mails can be private but they are not private people, they are politicians talking about and doing politics. In this situation, privacy doesn`t exist, sorry. .

In a decent democratic country gov ministers would have resigned 20 times after their scandals were disclosed to the public like PiS scandals have been so far. But we are in Eastern Europe so PiS think they can do what they want and refuse to resign.

how did they get access to the PMs mails anyway?

One PiS guy`s account was hacked by Russian intelligence and its discrediting content has been regularly published. We owe those Russians a big bottle of vodka for that. hahahaha

Who fights with the sword, dies by it, too. PiS was using Pegasus system to spy on the opposition and the things they acquired through it were later used by PiS.

Now it is PiS` turn to have their privacy spied on./
Perfect balance of nature. hahahaha

Yes this is the normal practice, though it seems it has been taken a step further by Civic Platform, and they have taken first tentative steps to legitimizing the use of deep fakes in Polish politics! Thank you for this wonderful step DT, may you reap what you sow...

We owe those Russians a big bottle of vodka for that. hahahaha

I'm sure you do pawian..

No, I'm fairly sure they won't actually, the forces against them are just too strong as the EU silence on this deep fake business proves.

Sigh! Thank you so much. I like you a little now. :):):)

EU silence

Come on , that`s nothing against the rule of law which PIS has been known for breaking for years.

He's an anti-Semite, homophobe and a racist,

Good, the more reasons to vote for him.

By the way if crazy radical progressive says things like that there is a 99,99% that a guy in question is an upstanding citizen that can be trusted.
jon357 74 | 22,204
30 Aug 2023 #259
and they have taken first tentative steps to legitimizing the use of deep fakes in Polish politics!

I doubt PiS would hold back either, not least because of their relentless pushing of fake news on public TV.

PiS wouldn't be able to come up with anything crazier than what they say anyway, so there is no need.

An interesting list of some of the wackier ideas of Konfa 'politicians'.

Including UFOs, 'cures' for autism, dog eating and abolishing speed limits.

pawian 224 | 24,691
31 Aug 2023 #264
abolishing speed limits.

I have always wondered at their amassing cheekiness - they want to abolish almost everything, yet they refuse to abolish the discrimination of women.

Fekk all those crazies and their grandpas!!!

Including UFOs, '

No, UFOs are most often unmanned alien aircraft... although the UFOs over Moscow are only Ukrainian drones.
jon357 74 | 22,204

unmanned

That's my feeling too.

We've had 'unmanned flights' since the first model aircraft decades ago, and now, even chimpanzees like us have AI. If we can do that now, someone/something way ahead of us certainly can do even more. There's just no reason to send little green men, and certainly no reason to send them to America. If they look for the most human development, it's the 'European Crescent', from more or less Manchester via the Ruhr and down as far as Milan, and if it's the fastest development, that's China. Definitely not farmers in Iowa.

And if there is anything going on, there's no way some booby from Konfa would know a thing about it.

Reading that list, they just look a bunch of nutters. One reason the U.K. stopped hereditary peers sitting in the upper house was because from time to time there'd be crazies with opinions like that. Here they're on an electoral list. At least it'll give europes journalists something to laugh at if they get in.

Politico says PiS vote about 40 percent. it all depends if PSL/trzece fake droga get above 8 percent. i hope not vote PO then stability.
as always those pesky konfa hovering about 15 20 percent, but i think poland sick of their russophilia as we are sick of kania jerking off to russians.

PO and the ruskis are scared to do any belarus border attacks, or any terrorist ukri nationlist, cause they scared it will just benefit PiS. Rock and a Hard Place etc.

Predict a pretty peaceful election period.
