What about the opt-outs? Are those binding on the EU? Britain, I believe, opted out on labour laws, neutral Ireland on possible troop contributions to a future EU

armed force and Poland on family law (abortions, homo "marriage", etc.).

Those were IIRC mostly negotiated ahead of time by countries that the EU really wanted to join (that is they wanted them to join enough that they made concessions to them). I don't think Poland was in any position to demand concessions....

Position or not, the opt-outs were facts. Whether they are still binding and for how long is the question. I believe Ireland for all time will be absolved from contributing troops to any future EU army that may be created. Atch would know about that.

No registration for same sex parents` child in Poland. Right?

After several previous rulings, today was the final one by Supreme Administrative Court. Two persons of the same sex can`t legally register their child coz according to the Polish law, parents must be of different sexes. It means the 4 year old boy, born in the UK and registered there as a child of two Polish women, won`t be reigistered in Poland and in result, may not receive PESEL number, identity card or passport etc. The Court stated that despite being unregistered, such children still have the right to obtain Pesel numbers and other documents but in reality, it will depend on the good will of regional Civil Offices.

Based on this case, the NSA had adopted a resolution in December 2019 stating it was impossible to have a woman registered as father in the Polish document.
